Nicola Sturgeon clashes with MSPs over Alex Salmond claims during FMQs
Nicola Sturgeon has been questioned about Alex Salmond claims at first minister’s questions. In a heated exchange, Jackie Baillie, the acting Scottish Labour leader at Holyrood, told Sturgeon there was 'something rotten at the core of the SNP and it is poisoning our democratic institutions'. Sturgeon said what was poisoning institutions was politicians 'hurling assertions and accusations without a shred of evidence to back them up'

Sturgeon goes on TV to declare there is not a shred of evidence for Salmond's claims and asks him to produce it. Then her government prevents him from producing that evidence.

@@gingerbaker4390 I mean under the current voting system its unfair to say all the people in the UK are represented. For example the last government in Westminster to win the majority of Scottish votes was Labour back in 2005. This is the likely reason why SNP have become a powerhouse in Scotland because for many people there vote doesn't feel like it really counts. The whole of Scotland could vote one way but it essentially only takes most of London to vote another way for Scotland to lose. We are one United Kingdom but we are also 4 individual nations with different opinions and ideas as shown with voting intentions. This becomes problematic on things such as Brexit when nations are being taken out even though the majority in that country voted to stay (Scotland) but the majority of a United set of nations voted to leave. Power feels so far away from home for Scottish people at the moment. Also I'm not an SNP voter or someone hooked on independence, I'd rather see a move to change to proportional representation. I'm just giving my humble opinion of what I think is going on.

I'm from Wales and I don't pretend to know anything about Scottish politics or any of the facts of this potential scandal but I clicked on this out of curiosity and, judging from the comment section, Nicola Sturgeon is a hated woman in Scotland.
Far from it Shikari. I'm in Scotland and the SNP are on track to win a huge majority in our Scottish elections in May. Nicola Sturgeon is one of the most respected and supported politicians on the planet. (do your own search for verification). What you are seeing on this page is unionist smear . Our Facebook and establishmnet media is full of this kind of attack, as they feebly try to cause division and split support. We are becoming immune to it and generally ignore it.

i listened to Mr Salmond giving evidence to the committee today, I a, no fan of. r Salmond politically, I am British and proud to be British but it must be difficult to fight your corner when you are being judged by some of the very people who’s views and actions you are trying to fight. it’s a shame such a politician is not committed to the UK because he is without doubt a very capable man, tough too, although this whole business must have been a terrible strain on him and his family. Cod speed Mr Salmond in everything you do other than the taking of Sc/outland from the Family that is Britain.

I’m a Scot living in Yorkshire. I think it’s time to give Scotland independence. Not because I want it as I’m pro union but because I’m sick and tired of the SNP. Let’s see Scotland join the EU in 10-20 years. The cut in public spending, no more free prescriptions or university, the list goes on. Then the hard border between Scotland and England by far its biggest trading partner at 65% of all exports go to England/Wales. Then no more Pound Sterling. No more military contracts as they must be done in the U.K. another huge part of the Scottish economy. Scotland are not prepared for all the cuts coming! Sturgeon is leading Scotland into the abyss!
