“It’s Strange As Islamic State Has No Beef With Russia” | Moscow Concert Hall Attack
Gunmen entered a concert venue near Moscow and opened fire on the crowd, resulting in over 100 deaths, including three children in which Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
The attackers, dressed in combat attire, also threw explosives, causing a large fire at the Crocus City Hall, located 15 miles west of the capital city.
Russia's investigative committee reported that the death toll has reached 115, with the possibility of further increases.
Additionally, at least 145 people were injured during the assault, which occurred shortly before the scheduled performance of the Soviet-era rock group Picnic.
Over 100 of the injured individuals remain hospitalised.

Reason being was that Russian attacks concentrated on aiding the ground assault by the Syrian army, and places where the Syrian army had the most resources just so happened to be located some considerable distance from ISIL held territories. ISIL was more numerous in Iraq and guess who aided the Iraqis in getting rid of them? Comparatively - ISIL received far less Russian attention than other groups. Which again makes what happened rather strange, there are far better targets for ISIL, and for them to select Moscow means that someone with far more resources than impoverished ISIS-k was very insistent on it being Russia.

We know they want to attack targets in Russia and elsewhere, and Russia have said they had previously stopped other attacks. Why did they bomb the Russian embassy when they did, instead of some other time? These attacks are planned in advance, they are not an immediate response to something that happened in the past few weeks. In 2024 alone ISIS have carried out attacks in Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Niger, Mozambique and Democratic Republic of Congo, it's not like this is out of nowhere. In recent years there have been dozens of attacks, many in Africa and Asia, but also smaller scale attacks in UK, France, Belgium, Austria, New Zealand, Australia and other western countries, why did they attack those specific countries, at that specific time? There are Muslim extremists all over the world that hate the countries they live in, or neighbouring countries. They have a deep seated hatred for anyone that doesn't share their beliefs, in many cases this will be a long term hatred, and whether it is an individual stabbing random people in the street, or a larger well planned and targeted attack, they can happen anywhere at any time.

So Mary this interviewee is a “former Moscow correspondent for The Times”. Curious woman. On looking into her career she also has written for The Guardian and Unherd. The writing is contradictory and pretty dumb. Look at her old articles on the pandemic and Trump supporters. She comes across as a bit of a “grifter” and this item confirms that.
I would imaging being a correspondent for The Times is quite an interesting and rewarding occupation...providing you are competent. There seems to be quite a long list of outlets she's worked for...but how many of them currently use her? And if not, why not?
