----- Witness video captures a combat sortie by a Ukrainian Su-24 Fencer that finishes with a low-level flyby for the camera man. The footage was reportedly taken somewhere in the eastern part of Ukraine.
It's crazy to hear those birds singing so peacefully while the smoke of battle activities is rising at the horizon

The Su-24 was designed for this. In the 1980s this was the aircraft that gave NATO defence planners nightmares. During the confusion of Able Archer 83, these aircraft were on 'strip alert'; that is, sitting on the runway with the engines running.

Just FYI to all, this aircraft was the first Soviet aircraft with ground terrain radar which provides control at extremely low altitude like this. It is essentially a copy of the F-111. These aircraft come with ejection seats that allow for ejection at any elevation including during takeoff and landing because they were specifically designed for penetrating strikes and doing so while avoiding radar detection, hence the low elevation capability and likely why he's flying low here.
u can not eject at any angle, ac needs to be at a positive angle.

@@Sinistercabbage Yes, it's a different plane built to try and match the capabilities and characteristics of the F-111, hence copying the same systems.

0:35 Kinda scary flying that low if you struck a bird or even not enough time to eject.
Better then a rocket hitting you I'd say, I would take the chances myself personally.
Most Russian aircraft types have zero-zero ejection seats (short for zero altitude and zero airspeed) which means an ejection at that height should be survivable (in theory).
I mean beats that to getting shot by a russian anti air launcher
you will still have plenty of time to react if you strike a bird at that altitude. Its not like the jet is going to instantly completely explode from a bird strike.
Trade kinetic energy for altitude. In other words climb!

In the begging, you can see the jets rockets firing and hitting, I missed that on my first viewing. It looks like they fired an anti-tank missile at it, that did not look like anti-air.

I believe it's more about proving they have an air force that will repel Ivan than anything tactical. when they perform ground attack, firing rockets in an arc it's only because risk of AA is too great. probably ineffective. perhaps someone can comment on this?

Because no one has air supremacy, and both sides are afraid of the others ADA. That may have been one of Russia’s greatest strategic blunders of this war, not eliminating the UkrAF and ADA forces and allowing them to disperse.

I’m actually glad the Ukrainians won’t have to see their friendly su24s on the front. It’s best Ukraine use them all as stand off storm shadow carriers this also may help the Ukrainian infantry if they know that unless specifically told any su24 they see is an enemy. And anyone will know the difference between an su24 and su25.

If that was a Ukrainian (which we have no idea if it was or not) he was scuffling to get away from detection. A lot of combat footage here and elsewhere is doctored for a slant to the side of Ukraine. The only real stuff is from the personnel on the ground who send stuff out to their loved ones or friends! Russia doesn't put a lot of stuff out there because they are smarter then that. Tired of the pro nazi crap!
