We’re all visitors…
Profiling passionate people who've gravitated to the Northern Rivers for a more conscious lifestyle, The Way It Should Be series tells the stories of locals and their connection to our community, the environment and their craft.
Our latest video, featuring coastal custodian Dave Rastovich, reminds us that we are all visitors on this Earth and so we have a collective responsibility.
Rasta’s message is that by being conscious and treading lightly, we can move forward as individuals, as conscious businesses and as communities.
We’re so lucky to call the Northern Rivers home and we hope you can share the stoke and be inspired by this special place and its people too.

Daves business and life philosophy are so in one with the true meaning of living in harmony with the earth , Dave is livin ,he got it figured out. And thanks for all your work protecting the environment Dave. Keep groovin man!
The Rasta is the most like a fish walking on the land. A real waterman! 👌🏾
Your a great addition to this world Dave. And a hell of a surfer with fluid style

Regardless of how relevant or factual Rastas comments are, this is a beautiful video.
For some reason I always think of the band “ Midnight Oil “ when I see Rasta surf or speak. In my opinion they are a perfect combo 🤙🏼🔱
Wow, I been living and surfing this area for more than 25 years and have seen the massive changes and watched everyone trying to bring up a family getting squeezed out. But this ad really connected the dots. What blew me away was how I got sucked in the advert with Dave’s good vibes and pleasantries as well as the beautiful camera work and lulling folksy tune. But as it went on I had some unease. Thank you to all the commentary for waking me up further out of my stupor.
Amen bro. Planning to leave this area asap.
Great human being and he rips!
I love this dude. And I have that same t-shirt. Haha, target in norcal. $9.99. The SIMPLE things in life. 🤙

Keep the good vibes Rolling Rasta
By their deeds, ye shall know them.

if this is the truth it is the ultimate expression I've ever experienced related to surfing. if not, it is what i would now hope for thank you
Great Surfer
Stone and Wood use plastic labels stuck to their beers. If this is all true, choosing paper labels is really not that hard. But i guess when you gotta make money there is going to be a compromise somewhere.
This is a beer advert. Rasta is a cult hero. A dangerous mix. The omissions tell a more honest story. I think he's talking about incrementalism at first: ".... have a more gentle impact on the place that we love..." But lost me on "... we're this peripheral group of people almost.." No, sorry Rasta, 'almost' isn't a good enough qualification. Possibly the majority of the community he is referring to can't afford to live there anymore - or more to the core - and further not acknowledged by omissions in the mainstream narrative, and yes - he is spouting a mainstream narrative - he's talking about community and the area and "traditionally business..." with no reference to the Arakwal. And then it get 'progressively' worse. Spouting responsible capitalism, and it's people who grew up here, and those who've moved to raise families that making this responsible capitalism movement happen. The only people I know who've moved their to raise families are trustfund-kids and those PR, and they have a deep propensity to put a spin on everything that exits their breathing hole- Rasta seems to be one the PR types, it's a pity he surfs so well- such talent and hard work wasted on a sack of bag ideas- and sold to us in buckets.
true, man...... so many Trudy and Sebastians here with their money - good luck to them - who are "like todally sustainable" but can we ditch the "we're so meek and humble and earthy" trip now please? Increasingly it's just a wankzone
Where is nothern rivers? This is absolutely amazing!
Yeah, get over here. Every other Brazilian in the world is here so why not you. I surfed Tallows the other day and was out there for a whole hour before I heard someone speak English.
RASTA

To many Gold Tops is my only thought on that clip.

HIPSTER COMMUNITY (vomiting sounds)
The consumption of alcohol is bad for the human body
Admirable philosophy...but with mankind spiraling toward ten billion...sadly an exercise in futility brother!!!
No idea what this was about
Selling Beer to hipsters
@@spot1251 true dat. with a bit of "I'm so saintly" politix thrown in.
good surfer and seems like a nice bloke, but c'maaahhhhn....I saw him once with a board with "say no to oil" or some such painted on the bottom. The thing is, if he took a breaking from rooting the sun and giving mythical beasts hand jobs, and did a few mills of research, he would discover that oil is used for a zillion other things than powering "eeevil cars". Making surfboards for example.
Not to mention his pickup truck.
Hipster pose. Actually very rich and selfish people pose
I drove into byron one time...I saw a guy in a grass skirt and twigs in his hair and drove straight back out...never been again....I like aggression, impatience overcrowding and proper men that'll like fist fighting so i just stick to the goldy...heaven on earth for me
Adam Kane KOOK
Dave rastavich = midnight oil, beds are burning
Got no idea wtf he’s blabbing on about but looks nice
This place would be so much better if someone put a parking lot right on the sand so we wouldn't have to walk all the way through that bloody forest
marketing freaks!!!!
is it some sort of cult ? WTF
Australia Is 60% coal powered. Why don't you fix that before saying how sustainable you are ?

The political babble is absurd.
