Mike also loves to bend the laws, that only works in his favor till a cop pulls him over telling him the what for. I like Mike's video's, I watch every one he uploads. But I do wish that he'd stop bending the laws so much. Just put the dam chains on, now nobody is angry, and you can go on your way. But he's got to fight the matter constantly.

It’s Caltrans, not CDOT, and they’ll put chain control up for wet road. What’s really frustrating for locals is they’ll always close the road completely rather than go to R-3, which is 4wd with chains. I lived and worked on Donner Summit before I started started trucks 30 years ago. I’ve lived in Idaho for the last 10 years now and I’ve seen worse conditions here, and chains are never required, only recommended.

If you were local at Baxter or Truckee or the local area you could drive well in R-3 conditions but it’s a low percentage of drivers who live locally. Left overs from winter.. Feb to be exact

Oh, it has to be really bad before I chain
A couple of those CHP are pretty cool around that area, was black ice on 139 a couple months back and he told me to either chain up or go around 395 to grasshopper rd. Was probably a good thing that night, does suck when we have to chain up because there’s so many morons driving in it that have no clue.
and chains arnt gonna stop any better
Where did those two speeding chain-less trucks go?!? They seemed to just disappear 🧐🤔
I would’ve told the cop where to go and how to get there. I drive up in northern Canada, where the roads are even worse than that and we’re hauling bigger weights.
CHP officer was a real piece of.... work. (I kept it PG rated). 🤣
What hill did he need chains for?
Are you driving an automatic?
I can hear those drivers now as they pass saying look at that rookie creeping down the road with his chains on. Maybe the CHP officer went on break after he hassled you. That would be my luck.
They might have automatic chains?
@@larrybe2900 I didn't think of that. I've seen those. It's one of those things you say to yourself. Why didn't I think of that.
Officer didn’t hassle anyone sparky.
So why didn't those other trucks have chains on . Related to the Patrol officer ???
🚚🚚⛄⛄❄❄
I drove for just over 30 years in Alberta and northern BC Canada. I was never told to chain up and if the roads were bad I would stop but if I wanted to keep driving I would chain up and only once I put on every chain I had, both axles, steering and trailer, safe travels driver
Snow??? Wow. When did you make this video???
February. It’s in the video description
My guess those trucks have automatic chain slinger
No
Safety first!
Lmao every other video I get recommended is you talking about chains
pity you didnt call him a communist!
Aloha kay pass hola
Listen to the DOT OFFICER shotgun
Freight wouldn’t get anywhere in Canada, Alaska or even Wyoming on the two lanes with these rules
i guess you have never been forced to put on chains over I-80 in the rain cause it might snow then when you get to the 1/2 inch of snow all your chains are broken and slamming on your trailer and tractor from driving on asphalt in the rain
We need James Bond tires. Just push a button and steel spikes come out of the tires.
Officers always act like they know how to do your job and theirs. At best, they saw a demonstration or watched a video one time on chaining. And they also know how to drive a truck even though they’ve never been inside one much less drive one. Having the authority isn’t the same as having the knowledge
Bullshit.
Where did you go? Did ya leave ? They just cut our pay
Why did you not ask them using the CB ?
Because Mike doesn't use his CB, infact most truckers don't these days. And the last time Mike used his CB, he angered another trucker telling Mike to mind his own business.
CB radios save lives.
@@stellarproductions8888he’s a strong Wilkes ass
He is a strong willed stubborn ass. C.B. radio is a safety device.
Was it ponch or john ? Lol
Deputy Theodore Roosevelt "Trap" Applegate III or Deputy Dwayne "Thib" Thibideaux from 240-Robert. John and Ponch were posers.
Body in the road ? seriously ? if theres a body in the road they already dead Jim LOL
Chp was right your totally wrong.dosent matter how many yrs you have driven.
That’s BS California for ya.
Stay in Idaho.
Chain laws are in place for the lowest experienced driver in mind. If you were local at Baxter or Truckee or the local area you could drive well in R-3 conditions but it’s a low percentage of drivers who live locally. If it’s bad enough to chain 4- wheel drive then conditions exceed people’s experience level and skill level.
@@Steve_Hunts96stay out of California, you aren’t welcome. It’s the most important state in the union.
I don't get why you almost insist frequently in ignoring the rules of the road. Oh ya, because you're the best driver ever, in your opinion.
When you have done it you just know limits.
“Rules”? What other rules did he not follow. You use a plural to bolster a weak case. Simply some need chains more than others.
just stay in the slow lane and follow the rules. LMFAO
@@billhillify4924the basic rule of safety first. He’s an ego driven ass.
What rules? Elaborate so I can destroy any argument you have
The premise that you can stop suddenly with chains defies the laws of physics. The officer's scenario is faulty.
Officer didn’t say it’s possible to stop suddenly with chains.
Drama cop.
F?c( commi forna
I am not asking my friend.
Once that cop realized you are Mountain Man Mike, he should have said, "Sir! It's an honor! Here... let me give you my wife's number so you can make a woman out of her. Can I follow you on Facebook and Twitter?"
😂
Why do cops always have some stupid anecdotal story? "What if you have to stop". Well, I just did, so...
Riding shotgun is what we call complacent. Complacency kills. Don't care how much experience you've got bud. Hope we don't see something bad on one of these videos. As fast as you drive in some of these conditions you're the kind of driver I would not want to ride with, idc if you have 50 years.
Go look up "communist"; you won't understand the definition, but maybe you'll realize that you've been misusing the word every time you say it.
Adhering to the principles of communism, what's there to know here?
@@stewybrooks Ever hear of Karl Marx? Communism is his posited end state of human history, not a system of government.
A tad pompous.....
You think? Guy is disgusting
Man you way behind time on these videos. I used to look forward to watching your up too date videos . But now I guess I will just have to find a new channel to start watching.
Your speed tells your running cables. I ran real chains period
no, your wrong
The cop is probably the same drivers ed safety clown that says that you have to be a car length behind for every 10MPH of speed. So if you are doing 80 you have to be eight car lengths behind LOL. What these "safety experts" never figure out that if you see the car ahead of you hit its breaks, you hit yours too and you stop together.
What the heck weather has been crazy hay how have you been LEMAY NELSON VANCOUVER WASHINGTON NORTH WEST
I remember on a motorcycle done right pass caught in thunderstorm hail then rain then ice it was interesting and I about froze my tail off LEMAY NELSON VANCOUVER WASHINGTON NORTH WEST
So no communication with the north bound driver? Do you a C.B. radio?
WAH WAH I HATE BEING SAFE FOR OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROADS.
Aint nothin like Commiefornika
You have an incorrect understanding of freedom.
How did they get by without chains, you ask. Well they spin out. Then the trucks have to be pulled up the hill by tow trucks. Meanwhile, a major highway gets blocked by truckers too lazy to chain up. Happens every year on the Highway Thru Hell, named the Coquihalla Highway, British Columbia, Canada. That's why they want you to chain up, buddy.
Actually chains are for clowns that don’t know how to drive and maintain speed.
@@johnnydough8841 That's what they all say before they spin out. BTW, there are other vehicles on the road. So, being a road bully is not good or safe.
it's not Canada or the highway thru hell
@@johnnydough8841 stupid comment
You watch way too much reality TV. I am a Colorado driver and have NEVER owned a set of chains or snow tires in my life. My job is 75 miles away over one pass, one of the most dangerous in Colorado. Never spun out or been in a ditch. Chains are hard on the road and hard on the vehicle. If you know what you are doing you dont need chains. My advise to you is the next time it rains, chain up buddy.
