I'm A Nurse Living At A Hospital Parking Lot In My Car (The VanLife Nursing Dream)

My name is Arslan and I’ve been living in vehicles for the past few years. My journey of alternative living began after I was fed up with the high cost of rent in the United States. I fell in love with the idea of living on the road, so over the years, I converted a sprinter van, a Camaro and most recently been living in my 2014 chevy suburban camper car. I enjoy making KZhead videos and recording my different experiences to share with you guys. I’m also a nurse half days of the week because I have a significant passion for helping people.
In This video: I show you what my day looks like while working at a hospital as a registered nurse in the united states and living in my car.
KZhead Posting Schedule: I usually post on Saturdays 9am EST (NY time). I'm currently posting 1 video every 2 weeks but I'm working towards posting 1 video a week.
I love reading your comments and wish I could reply to all of you but my schedule doesn't allow. But I always reply to SUPER CHATS because they pop up on my phone!
P.S. If I need to tell you guys something, I will comment and pin it on my latest video.
All of my long form videos can be found in this playlist: • How I Live In My Car W...

I seriously admire what you’ve created for yourself and there have been times I’ve contemplated selling my house and getting a camper trailer to live in. • My husband lived in his car in a hospital underground parking garage for four days. Miles away from home he couldn’t afford a hotel room because everything in the general area was very expensive, but there he was living in his car while waiting for me to get through surgery and recovery. He said it was tough at times but being able to visit and spend time with me every day without having to travel so far made it an easy choice. I love him everyday for it.

I always told him, if there were no nurses in the hospital people wouldn't go there even though they were sick! The nurses are your connection to the rest of the sometimes complicated medical system. They are God's angels. His hands and feet and, most importantly, smile and positive spirit. You can't put a price on what that means to the patient! Big love to all of you!❤️🩷🩵💛

  • I'm an EMT and I work 9am to 10pm 3 days in a row plus overtime. I work an hour away from my apartment so I'm doing partial van life on my work days. I head in the night before when my family goes to bed and live outside the station for the next 3 days. It saves me over 100 miles and about 5 hours of driving every week. I don't really miss out on family time since I'd get home after they are in bed and leave right when they wake up. Plus I get more downtime without the daily commute. I have a plug, all the conveniences of home (sofa, bed, toilet, tv/dvd, kitchenette) and a gym nearby to shower. Everyone I work with knows what I do but the neighboring businesses don't. It's a very comfortable situation for maximizing my time and minimizing my expenses and gives me 4 days off every week to spend with my family. Loved the video. Feels like having a virtual neighbor.

Most RN's I've dealt with especially the newbies walk around with a chip on their shoulder and put themselves at the same level as Doctors. They need to be knocked down a couple of notches. All you see now is nurses congregating around the nurses station, laughing and joking around and staying on their phones while patients have called upon them for an hour. It's the CNA's and LPN's that do most the work with the patients. I've concluded that I'm not fond of RN's.

  • Male Nurse in England here and i have nothing but respect for you. We need MORE male nurses ❤ I work in my car all day as i’m a District Nurse (i couldn’t work in a hospital now, i love seeing patients get well at home!) so i know being in a car for any extended length of time is hard, but that set up is EPIC!!

    • There is a difference between the number of male nurses versus female nurses. Statistically, male nurses are at a record high of 21% in 2021 compared to 7% in 2008 based on "registered nurse" statistics. I worked for a phone company for 18 years, and there was a 20 to 1 female versus male in that industry. So, speaking about an industry that in past years was primarily women IS GOOD. I will not be told what to think or speak about because I grew up in the US in the 60s and 70s. I know the power of freedom of speech. It keeps us free!

  • I really wish that I'd had the courage to do something like this when I was younger. I actually thought about it, but it was really frowned upon in the 80s when I graduated from college. It was considered quite fringe back then. Now, people of all ages are living their best lives as nomads in vehicles with minimal worries and bills. It is now my retirement goal. Kudos to this young man.

    • I had a van. But my situation was worse. I did think I bet I could make a small living space in here. & Then thought, wait, I can't build or wire nothing & that's as far as my thought process went. But being young & single, yeah, that makes it way more convenient living in the hospitals garage. Security must never bug him. He must be like I work here, _literally live here too_ chill. Imagine getting so used to convenience tho., imagine getting up like no! I absolutely don't want to walk across the freaking street. Them streets r dangerous 😤✋

    • @@blackcherry6877 You, obviously, didn't read the whole comment or else your comprehension is off, but you keep doing you. Just because people want to live in a way that you do not comprehend nor agree with doesn't make them less "blessed." In fact, you, nor anyone else, gets to decide what other people's blessing are. This young man may think of himself as incredibly blessed while you scoff his choices and think that they are not. In this case, you lose because you are not living his life nor paying his bills. We're just going to have to agree that you stay in your lane, and I'll stay in mine. Thanks for your input though.

  • My mother was an RN trained in late 30’s to early 1940’s for 3 years at St Francis hospital in San Francisco. They had quite a lot of the Pacific war injured come into the Bay Area. It was horrific for all these young nurses, she never got over it IMO. God bless you for all you do to help others…❤

  • My mom recently had surgery and she wanted to nominate all of her nurses for the daisy award LOL but she was so excited when writing the nurse she chose, it's truly life-changing to be taken care of by nurses who care. One of my friends is becoming a nurse and I saw the hard work you put in to go into this field. Truly inspiring, you basically mashed the two categories I love into one, nurses and living out of a car! I would love to experience living out of a car at least once, praise God it is a choice I'd love to make and not a necessity! Keep up the great videos, sorry for my comment being all over the place, just so excited for your videos, first of many! You just got a new subscriber :)
