We ordered NYC Cookies from Brooki Bakehouse in Australia!!
Brooki Bakehouse cookies took a few days but they just arrived to us in Canada and we were so excited to dig in and try them.
BUT it cost us $37 for 6 cookies (fair enough), plus $50 in international shipping (ok), but then we got surprise carrier/border fees of $24.60 (ugh) making them easily the most expensive cookies we've ever bought. It was for research though, so totally worth it!! Watch til the end to see which flavours we liked best!!
**TIP: We did reorder again, and got 2 boxes at the same shipping price, so order extra & toss some in your freezer to make it worth the shipping charge ;)

After making this video, someone pointed out that we skipped the optional reheating step to make the cookies even better - we were so excited that we skipped that step instead of waiting for our oven to preheat - so we may reorder some, to try that out. (This was our very first cookie unboxing video, and they def get better, I promise!! Thank you for your kindness)

I visited Brookie Bakehouse in Brisbane a week ago for the first time. I live about 2000km (1243 miles) from Brooke's. It was worth it. Amazing cookies, atmosphere and staff. Well worth the visit 😃🍪

I did fly down this time but have driven in the past. The main reason was to visit family. Well that's what I tell them anyway 🤣

But someone also recommended to watch for a sale on her cookie recipe online (I think full price is less than the shipping we’re paying…)

I have tried the Brooki bakehouse cookies they are delicious I traveled from far nth Queensland in Australia to try them.
Our new order just came and they were SOOOOOOOO extra delicious reheated. I can only imagine how good they are fresh from her bakery!!!

Depending on where you are, maybe it's not so much... it was the shipping and surprise fees. But we're still glad we did it. And she has so many fun unique flavours. Did you see the recent video where Brook hints at working on a cookbook!??! Maybe you'll be able to get that soon, and make all of them at home (for less than the price of shipping of her cookies)!! *fingers crossed* :)

@JimmiAlli They were all delicious, but we loved the Levain cookies best. I don't know if it's a fair comparison though... Levain baked them fresh to order and shipped them right away. Even if Brooki did the same, it took 2+ weeks to get to us. (Brooki & YVR def have some innovative flavours which makes theirs super fun for the kids though!)

...why not heat them though? I was surprised you didn't, it makes a huge difference. I always reheat a baked good, especially if it came from that far away
Yes!! You're totally right. We were so excited and it was late so we just opened them. But we did end up reordering so we could do it properly and reheat them and posted a new video (and we got her mini box too to try her red velvet with was all of our favourite). They were really good not heated, but OMG reheated was phenomenal.
I would love to try those cookies as well. But i think it's too expensive to order from where i live.
Ya, that's totally understandable. It's like $20 a cookie if you live near us. We've been trying to find more local (USA/Canada options) to try that are more cost effective. Levain wasn't too bad if you're in the US (it was only like $16 shipping or something). And we're thinking of coming across the border to get some Crumbl cookies to try soon...

@marysmindfulbakehouse Will do 👍.. You weren't able to pick your flavours cause they're pre-packaged? That's weird. They look nice and dense and the fact they're dairy free seemed appealing as I'm lactose intolerant. That price tag though that's gotta hurt a bit lol
@@ernskii77 I just went back to her website to double check, and there is a drop down menu, and you can pick from "Best Sellers" (what we got) which is a pre-set pack with: NYC Cookie (Dark Choc Walnut), Nutella Milk Choc Chip, White Choc Macadamia, Biscoff, Double Chocolate, & Classic Choc Chip. Or you can get a 6 pack of one of those above flavours. I found her ingredient list too: www.brookibakehouse.com/pages/cookies. Lots like they all might have butter, and some do have milk products.

I'm sorry! Cuz even if these places offer a gf version (we've just ordered from Scrumpchies in Canada who offer a gluten-free option and a vegan NYC Cookie, and Levain has a gf one), they're still made in the same facility... and still not celiac safe. :/ We def need more celiac-safe options in the world!!

she did hint in a recent video that she was considering a pop-up in the USA in the future, so who knows, maybe Brooki World Domination (in a good way!) is coming soon and we can all enjoy her cookies without the huge shipping cost :)

You should contest border fees, it’s good for gods sake
Lol! It's a "carrier fee" that certain companies slap on as a charge to get it across the border. DHL for sure does it, and I think UPS does it too (and don't release your package til you pay it!). So if you have a choice in carrier it's nice to avoid those ones. It's not actually a mandatory/border tax. It's so dumb.😅

:/ We didn't...we were soooo excited to try them after waiting a week that we didn't heat them. But I feel like we really dropped the ball on that one, so we're going to reorder them & retry with them heated.

Hey, yep her website says $44 Canadian for 6 cookies to pick up from the store, which is $7.33ea. The Original Levain/NYC Cookies are about that too $29 for 4. It's just that they're super huge cookies [between 150-200g (like 3-4 regular cookies)]. They were super good after reheating them (the second time we ordered them).

@@marysmindfulbakehouse I tried the same one as you did they are amazing if you heat them up a little crispy outside soft and gooey inside as the chocolate melt! The heat up instruction is on the card!

Have you tried her cookies before? I'm not sure if they ship frozen, but they were definitely room temp by the time they arrived. We were just too excited to try them, that we skipped the optional reheat step. But now we're thinking of reordering them, to try again, with them reheated. What do you think?

They look so dry
They were on the drier side - but I think that's the style of cookie? The YVR ones we tried were like that too.
Brookie specifically advises to warm up the shipped cookies prior to consuming them. If you purchase from her bakery directly, the cookies are fresh baked that day. The shipped cookies obviously are days old, so they need to be warmed up first before eating.
@t5066 Thanks, yes! you're totally right about the reheating! We dropped the ball on that one. We read the recommendation on the card when we opened the box, but were so excited to try them and it was already close to bedtime, so instead of waiting until the next day, we skipped it. I am kicking myself for that now... and thinking about reordering to try again. (Our box also had an expiry date sticker marked a few weeks before our order date, so that may factor in too... and another reason to try again.) Do you live nearby? Have you gotten them fresh from the bakery?? :) What's your fav flavour you've tried?

I often fly into her city though, so I will most definitely visit her bakery. I follow her on social media, so I’m well versed in her journey as a bakery owner and her practices. I reckon that’s how I happened upon your video on her 😊 the algorithm got me! Thanks for your video, it was really informative

(I do love to watch her videos too! What she has created is absolutely amazing & inspiring). And the more the algorithm pushes this video out, the more I feel we need to reorder and make a new video with properly reheated cookies, (to funnel people away from non-heated cookies) and give her proper representation.
