Living with the world's smallest SUV!
Meet the Citroen Ami Buggy!
It may be based on the regular Citroen Ami, but there are a couple of notable changes that make it a whole lot different to the regular mini Citroen EV… And Mat’s about to find out what it’s like to live with on a daily basis!
Starting with the design, although the front and rear may look the same as the regular Ami, the most notable difference is the doors… Or should that be, lack of doors! The plastic doors have been removed and replaced with a pair of metal bars on either side. The Buggy also comes in a new khaki green paint, coupled with some gold alloys. The Buggy also has a removable sunroof, as well as some plastic windows.
On the inside, the Buggy is very much the same as the Ami, bar a few styling changes. There are smattering of yellow stitching and storage throughout, and there’s even a removable bum bag strapped across the steering wheel! Thankfully, the gear selector has also been moved, and is now easy to access on the dash.
When it comes to performance, the Buggy matches the regular Ami. That means it comes with an 8hp motor as well as a 5kWh battery. This is good for a range of 46 miles, and a top speed of 28mph.
The question is, can you really live with the Ami Buggy on a daily basis?! You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself!

Loved this video!!! My parents had a a Citroën Dyane when I was growing up. I see lot of the same wacky but supercool design ethos in the Ami, starting with the roof that needs to be rolled up. Some of the old Citroën were amazing, like the Méhari (my dream car as a child) or the old DS, pure old school cool.

Why do ALL of these comments with people claiming they love it feel extremely bot-like to me? What exactly is likeable about a plastic shopping trolley with a top speed of about 20, oh and they are prone to tipping over at low speeds, (see the Fifth Gear Recharged test for evidence).
@@eyesodd I think people like it so much because it's a simple affordable EV. Not everyone wants TV screens, Android Auto and heated seats. Also most people who would never buy an EV (Including me) would maybe consider an Ami for commuting as it just makes sense.

The amount of people that come into the dealership and just to sit in! I have taken loads of people on a test drive in these and no one gets out of them without having a smile 😊 on their faces! You get more looks in one of these than a Porsche or a m3 for instance, People buy them just so they can advertise on them cause they get that much attention! My own experience of this was funny as I was going up a steep hill and a motability scooter overtook me 😂! You have to drive one if you can! They are brilliant and unique in there own way. The trim levels are not levels as such it’s just the stickers you pay for, the doors on the original open both ways because they only have to use the same door for the drivers and passenger sides! Drive one to appreciate one!

I absolutely love those crazy little cars. It's like Citroën does secret brainstorm meetings where every suggestion is allowed & the outcome is good. They need to release a version that can go 80 km/h for fast roads. That would go to 60% potential drivers to 90% for not much R & D.
