  • Your designs are great! The next level would be servo cover/protectors and finger grip indents.

    • Some designs have hand holds. At least the ones that really need them. I’ve had 2 control horns break in over 300 flights with them on the bottom. The servo arms are almost unbreakable at this scale and weight. 👍🏻

  • Just downloaded the Cutlass files. One thing I did not find is any recommendations on wall thicknesses, infill percentages, or any list of recommended components to complete. Am I missing something or is this shown on a build video?

    • My prints are not specific. As long as you have dialed in your printer to print active foaming LW pla you will be good to go. On cults I specify 1 wall, 1 or 2 top and bottom layers. I prefer grid infill at 3%. Every printer is so different it’s not useful to give any more info on specific settings. As for parts I list I used either a powerfun/ hobby fun 50mm edf and a 1300-2200 4s battery. Any 9g servo. People get worried when they don’t see instructions. Once you build one of my planes you understand the theory behind it. I have a few build videos that show everything you need to finish any of my builds. The way everything glues together it can’t be done wrong. You just glue the parts together how they fit. The Left elevon has an L printed in the bottom and the wings have CG bumps

    • @@classifiedmp standard pla would be very tricky especially on this design as it’s a bit larger than others in the 50 class. I don’t have a bare airframe to weigh, only have an airframe with servos and an edf. I’ll weigh that to give you a rough idea

  • ....i have subscribed and going thru your videos.....love the whole idea of 3D printed aircraft especially jets....i have been flying RC for 35 years and 3D aircraft brings a whole new dimension to RC.... 1. Do you have recommendations which 3D printer to purchase? 2. Do you have siggestions where to purchase the edf, servos, etc? Cant wait to get started. Thanks

    • Glad you’re interested! Technically you can get away with any printer but if you’re new and you want the best nothing compares to the Bambu P1s or carbon if you want multi color prints. I have two Bambu labs printers and they run all day long. No issues and no failed prints. Everyone gets stuck on print settings because they try and use pre foamed LW pla. I recommend using 3d lab print active foaming LW pla. If you join my Facebook group we can all help you get your printer setup. I can also email you the print settings.     • Also I highly recommend xfly 50mm edfs or powerfun hobby fun edfs on Amazon. For the 50mm size jets I like the 1300-2200 size batteries

  • First flight of shmiggen failed. Buddy hand tossed it and it immediately nosed into ground. I had CG on nubs and also was holding a bit of up elevator. I think maybe you need someone with a really strong throwing arm like this guy evidently has. Maybe my print was too heavy? What should finished weight be?

    • Sorry to hear that! The nose down thing is very strange. If you watch my shmiggen videos it’s the best high alpha jet I’ve ever flown. What fan, battery and weight? What material did you use?

    • It’s the slowest flying jet so it’s Inherently easy to throw.

  • How wide are the wings on the 64mm cartoon miggen? On my f106 I have them at 22in wing tip to wing tip. Will that be ok?

    • Any can scale up to 70 from 64. Retracts tip 3d printed planes into the heavy category in my option. I so obsessed with having a light weight flying experience I feel like any plane with added retracts would be a pig. If that makes sense. That’s where foam planes are superior

    • Just scale it to 128% and print the fuselage where the fan sits to fit your edf before you print the other parts
