"Delivery" - Sci-Fi Thriller Short Film

2022 ж. 23 Мам.
59 369 Рет қаралды

This short sci-fi thriller, inspired by media like Black Mirror, tackles questions of AI and data collection in a not-so-distant and frighteningly plausible future. Grace, an unemployed college graduate and loyal customer of the Z-Box subscription service, is lured into the depths of a system that she quickly discovers is far over her head. How can you escape something that you've already given permission to track your every move?
Film made by Ryan Mayhan for his thesis in Digital Art and Media Production at Hamilton College.

  • This is almost exactly how spies get their “assets” to do their work for them. Great work! This would make an outstanding Black Mirror episode.

The music and the mood is fantastic and I think you really did and get job creating this future world with the simple but effective production design. Really did feel like Black Mirror, great job!

  • I get really frustrated with having a large flat screen, with high quality , high resolution viewing and then half of every single show is filmed in near darkness and difficult to see! Might as well be using a 1950s B&W tv to view.

  • This feeds into the paranoia of privacy invasion by entities we have given our uninformed consent to via an unread EULA, a good plot for a horror film, however the voice of the AI was loud and raucous, and it was unpleasant to listen to and distracting. The acting was a bit stiff and seemed forced, and the profanity felt like it had been used to crowbar emotional content.

  • The Kafka question to God - Why are you doing this to me? --- of course we have no way of understanding even if there was ever a response because our understanding is baked into the inability to understand at this point in this existence in this state of consciousness. ------ you love a puppy - you hold the puppy - and you explain to the puppy that there are things in this universe called black holes - you share what you know in a loving caring way for hours and at the end of all that - the puppy poops on your rug when you put him down. The woman asked too many questions and paid the price - much like humans who die from too many questions - instead of just living a nontoxic life of compassion kindness and patience. Centered in a loving state so they eat right - do not get cancers and do not develop heart problems and become the picture of what you see when you look up Use less Eater in the dictionary. Mostly lost to the pursuit of capitalistic parasitical cannibalism. I liked the way the movie was filmed - the lighting and the pace even if the script blew chunks. thank you.

  • Had she possessed just half a brain she'd have figured out that failing to deliver the packages, then claiming she gets easily confused/distracted, would have resulted in her not being given the job again, plus she'd still maintain her account. I take it, due to budgetary constraints, that the lighting bills could only be sporadically paid? And why adjust the vehicle temperature, only to put the attache case in the boot? Even weirder? Calls her friend in the middle of the night, they have a snack and beers, while watching a movie, yet her friend doesn't think to ask why she had to get out of bed and come over, she has to watch a movie first? The friend, being her replacement, was all too predictable. I'd have prefered her friend had been in on it, maybe even being the one to have suggested her as a candidate. Overall, not too shabby, however, poor lighting and stilted acting, at times, detracted from it.

Z-Box and Amazon may have something in common? Personally, I do not utilize Amazon nor do I use any Social Media whatsoever nor other apps such as Netflix or Cable TV. I truly minimize device usage and honor Security Protocols to maximize privacy and less distribution of private info. I do utilize You Tube for mini-movies / films. I work in the Security Services field and protect information and provide myself with minimalization concerning protocols. I also utilize private security enablers at ALL times. I respect the Right To Privacy. It's supposed to lead to a hopefully quieter life. _____ Jesus is King ✝️ _____

  • First of all its not scifi, but some paranormal thriller . Secondly, the plot is unfortunately not convincing and theres no clarity as to whats going on. It raised some curiosity but failed to provide any answers. And therefore all that development was too long, unnecessary. And that "we can see all" , "we control all your devices" and "we are everywhere" was just ridiculous. And no sane person would have agreed for such a job. Well, a big letdown. I expected scifi, but instead got a paranormal horror mystery with plotholes. Sorry, didnt like at all.
