What's behind the UK's deportation deal with Rwanda? | DW News

2022 ж. 17 Мау.

The British government insists it will carry on with its plan to send unwanted asylum seekers to Rwanda despite widespread criticism. The UK wants to prevent migrants from coming to its shores through unauthorized routes, so it's threatening any such potential arrivals that they'll be expelled to Rwanda. In return, Rwanda is getting 150 million dollars and a chance to promote itself as a hospitable haven.
Rwanda is offering asylum seekers up to 5 years stay with access to education and support. Human rights groups say the UK is shunning its responsibility to grant protection to asylum seekers, sending them to a country with a questionable human rights record.

    • We are unconscious when we are asleep or fainted. When we are unconscious, we have no thoughts, no emotions, and cannot see the world. When we are conscious, we know everything. Consciousness is thoughts, emotions, and everything in the world. This consciousness is one. Will consciousness be split in two? Consciousness is not divisible. Do you feel two consciousnesses when talking to a friend? Consciousness is felt only as one. Consciousness is one. I am Conscious and I am the World. Gospel of Thomas "For many of the first will be last, and will become a single one." Jesus said, "Two will recline on a couch; one will die, one will live." "For this reason I say, if one is whole, one will be filled with light, but if one is divided, one will be filled with darkness." Jesus said, "Why do you wash the outside of the cup? Don't you understand that the one who made the inside is also the one who made the outside?" Jesus said, "I am the light that is over all things. I am all: from me all came forth, and to me all attained. Split a piece of wood; I am there. Lift up the stone, and you will find me there." A [person said] to him, "Tell my brothers to divide my father's possessions with me." He said to the person, "Mister, who made me a divider?" He turned to his disciples and said to them, "I'm not a divider, am I?"

  • I think this policy can be improved, one way is to provide alternative destinations eg Australia. There are countries in need of the human resource and could benefit from such a policy

    • I think considering Australia has already implemented such a policy, they are not on board with that..

  • UK treating people as if they’re trash. In past times ethics and respect for life would’ve prevaled, and such propositions wouldn’t have even left the cabinet meeting.Asylum seekers are precisely looking for opportunities in countries that are supposedly respectful of human rights. That’s why they’ve chose to go to the UK. This is basically a sentence without trial. Yet there’s countless of vacant unskilled and low skilled jobs that Brits aren’t even considering to fulfil and that are contributing to the massive gap in the economy. I guess the only type of immigration allowed in the UK is for bankers and multimillionaires … but I wonder why in the world they’d go to the UK.
