  • Hi Peter & Cameron, what about sprint Races in a new format. On Saturday teams will have a sprint qualy followed by a sprint race, and have team principals as drivers, only points available are constructors points. Sunday we have a normal F1 race with F1 drivers and only points on offer are Driver championship points. Now teams can focus on constructors tittle and f1 drivers can just race for themselves without being influenced by factory.

In racing, still being available with your car after turn 1 i guess ranks quite highly. At Ferrari, I'm sure you could force a survival clause - make sure you're still both racing at lap 2. For 3rd drivers - why not make the top 5 teams push local talent in the sprint races?

  • I think in every industry or sport the CEO should change jobs or position within a company after x years (probably max 10 years). Eventually you stuck within your own points of views, and have the same vision as always. It is inevitable that you dont stay that focused and eager as when you started and build the team up with all the success. The edges or slowly of it. It should be a natural thing, and not only Toto. It is applicable for everyone, being the CEO of Coca Cola, Apple, or Mercedes AMG F1 or Redbull F1. Toto should move into an advisory or board role (like Niki Lauda had or Marko has). Toto is with the team since 2012/13? It should be a natural evolution of your role within the team. But anyway, every company decide itself how and what. But same with Christian Horner, also should move to a more advisory role.

Having the qualifying for the main race just 2hrs after the sprint race is ridiculous. Think about it, if 2 teams were on even points with the championship deciding race falling on a sprint weekend, one of those csrs goes into the wall during the sprint race with no chance of rebuilding it in 2hrs, there goes qualifying, they start 20th on the grid, bye bye championship and for what? Spectator value....

Sure he apologises now and again when prudent. Not many clean drivers in F1 but don't say Hamilton is clean. • BTW the solution to the sprint format me and my friends already solved years ago. There should be an identical spec class of cars different than say F2, F3 etc. Say formula Ford, something easy and cheap. It's a mini race series within F1 that all the drivers take part in throughout the year. That way we solve the biggest part of F1 in the best drivers never being on equal equipment. It's the only way it can happen legally. If it was a separate series apart from F1 then the drivers contracts would never allow them to jump around to different teams.

  • I notice a pattern of team bosses at the cusp success, suddenly starting to say that the team is not dependent on certain individuals, but the team as a whole is the reason for the success. They then stop valuing key people, and those key people feel neglected, and then leave to another team. Their departure is then dismissed as unimportant, but they leave a hole that the boss, consumed by his own brilliance in creating this successful team, disregards, and pretty soon holes appear throughout the organization, because the importance of the virtuoso designer/engineer/driver is not recognized. I might be wrong, but I have noticed a pattern there. Before Mclaren's massive slump, Ron Dennis dismissed Adrian Newey leaving saying that the car is built and designed by a team and not one individual....well they really struggled after that, and we all see the success of Red Bull. A lot of talent has also left Mercedes, and they are struggling. If crucial people get offers from other teams, you should match or better the offer. People are always the greatest asset of an organization. If you forget that you are heading downhill.

As one would expect, Peter's answers were informative, logical and very well considered. An interesting and entertaining video. Cameron is making moves and is clearly hear to stay in this space. Well done all around.

If they would have not been allowed to unlap there still would have been a racing lap. You can't change a race order in that situation. Only if it finished under a safety car would that even have a chance of making sense

    • @@SunsetWingmanthe race should have ended under a safety car by all accounts, by the rule book, everything, so if Mercedes pits Lewis, they literally hand the championship to Max under a safety car finish. The rules were broken, and Max was gifted the championship, Michael Masi was fired because of it but it didn't resolve anything.

    • @@joshn1678i understand what you are getting at. But at the very moment of the incident it was a 50/50 if the race would end under SC. They took a loooot of time to clear Latifis car, it might as well have been resolved quicker and we could have had even 2 laps of racing. Not denying that the unlap decision is controversial nor the same lap SC IN. If the marshalls weren‘t that slow, all the cars could‘ve unlapped and nobody would be asking questions. In both cases HAM wouldn‘t have pitted because of track position, which is logical. Merc gambled that the race would end under SC, they can‘t possibly not pit HAM otherwise - sometimes gamble pays off, sometimes not. If HAM had pitted, he would have been P2 on the restart with new softs, RB then would have opted for track position. The same thing would‘ve happened the other way around… it was a gamble, the crash happened at a very stupid moment and under liberty media, there was no way this race would end under SC. They would have red flagged the race worst case…

And no Masi was fired because of woke cancel culture people on social media whining. He didn't break the rules as written, that was proven by there being no legal case able to stand on its own 2 feet once people actually read the rules. I agree with him that it was the right move for Lando to make to stay on the outside and try and take that position, but I disagree when he says Lewis would be "clean". Moving wide and edging people off the track on the outside is something Lewis has done throughout his career - it's one of his signature manoeuvres.

These are a couple F1 fans on KZhead, coming up with brilliant ideas on the fly that would elevate the stock and faith people have in the team that ide argue at least 1/3 of F1 fans adore. Now these are two of the greatest minds in the field, here on YT not to take anything away of the two were listening to, (there's a reason in the thousands of channels these are the two that I don't miss. Your opinions are coveted.) But it is interesting isn't it? I think it shines a light on what the 2/3 of folks that arnt high on Mercedes and compare them to the "Evil Empire" what they probably feel and reinforces their narrative. I'm not a huge LH fan, but no man can take away from the Lion that driver has been over the life of his career. Given the car that could get the job done, who among us wouldn't love to see him and MV1 battle it out again?! Sorry this is so long winded, but this whole thing over with my guy Horner jas really taken the wind out of my sails. I've been spending more and more time with LcLaren now.
