SNTS study: Arranging a full track from a 1-bar loop

2024 ж. 26 Мам.
68 854 Рет қаралды

Here is part 2 in the study on how to make banging, relentless techno like SNTS. In part one we made a 1-bar loop, and now we use that to get from 1 bar to a full 5-minute arrangement.
The key to this style is creating 4 "checkpoints": four eight-bar loops that each are somewhat interesting and represent different moments in the track. Then, once those 4 checkpoints all sound good, move on to constructing bridges between them using subtractive arrangement and automation.
Judge the result for yourself. Here is the arranged track: / s-4hrbuswcy7q
We use Ableton Live 10 for this. Everything we do is pretty standard DAW functionality.
Content:
0:00 Going from one bar to longer phrases with turnarounds
1:35 Showing the 4 checkpoints in Ableton Live
13:20 Going from 32 bars into a full arrangement
15:15 Describing the arrangement
19:38 Full listen through
24:28 Next steps

    @timnordberg7204@timnordberg7204 Жыл бұрын
  • I know Oscar can’t do this on the video BUT usually when I do a track arrangement I create a “sample track” track at the top of my arrangement and add my favorite techno jam and slowly reference the arrangement and mimic it. Once I’m done mimicking the arrangement I’ll delete the sample and go back and really personalize the arrangement. Of course this is after you’ve found all of your drums and leads and elements etc. especially for techno like this (my genre). If you do this five times a day you’ll be able to arrange quickly in 32 bar movements. Before you know it you’ll have a 6 minute track. Voila. Also having a default template is critical.
