  • As an adult, it’s so hard to make friends, I think adults don’t like making new friends. Which is really hard when you move to a new place and you’re trying to make friends.

    @Vermontguy87@Vermontguy87 Жыл бұрын
    • It is actually remarkably easy. I travel all over the country for work, and I have made a ton of friends along the way. I've been invited into their houses, went on their boats, and went fishing and hunting with them. All because I strike up conversations at airports, bars, and restaurants. The problem is that people won't initiate the conversations, and so many people live in their own little bubble. Everyone just stares at their phones when they are out in public alone. I don't give them that opportunity (unless they insist) because I will strike up a conversation about anything. Genuinely showing interest in the other person helps also.

  • I'm so happy you did this because I have never been a fan of the huge divide. No one is ever going to agree 100% on the same thing. Anyone too extreme on any side should remain open minded to change and other's perspectives. The best advice to take is if you disagree with it, take time to understand it. When someone says something i dont typcially agree with i ask them what makes them have that belief and its so helpful. My husband and I use to be more conservative growing up (me being raised in a Mormon household as well), but now we lean in the middle. We are close to people on both sides, and some who have mixed beliefs. As long as you talk respectfully to another and try to see their point of view it rly isn't bad. The problem with the divide is people not wanting to interact with those who have different opinions, and that in itself won't help anyone. Those who surround themselves with people alike end up being the quickest to judge others; and Helen was the perfect example for that.

    @anyadarlingg@anyadarlingg Жыл бұрын
    • There are certain beliefs and concerns that are at least somewhat understandable. However, the problem is when their beliefs are factually wrong or are claims that have little to no evidence (ie conspiracy theories). Tolerating such beliefs will just lead to the continuing of misinformation to run rampant.

  • I would totally volunteer to try the reverse experiment, a conservative trying to make 100 friends that are liberal. As a younger white male conservative from the Midwest I would be very curious what I would experience.

  • Ya know what? Respect. Simply respect. I have my complaints but it was pretty even handed. We can disagree and still love eachother as people. We all want a better future, but what that means and how we go about it is often different. This one guy? I like him.

  • One of my favorite videos so far, it’s great that people see outside their political bubble and realize that most of the country is friendly and in the middle but we normally only see/hear the extremes of either side.
