  • I'm in the USA and always prefer my Japanese cars made in Japan by Japanese workers. I think many others feel the same and I think Mazda and their marketing team gets this. As of August 2023 I'm seeing more and more Mazda's on the road and in my neighborhood than before. Maybe it's because Toyota cannot keep up with demand and others like myself have started cross shopping Mazda and like what we see. I'm a 57 year life long old car enthusiast and remember the issues when they were with Ford but now that they are back on their own with the Japanese philosophy and they are hitting it out of the park now. My wife having owned a Lexus RX for the past 16 years and me an Acura have never looked at Mazda until a few months ago and really like what we see. When I compare the CX5 to the Rav 4 I easily fall for the looks of the CX5 over the Rav 4. I was pleasantly surprised Mazda hasn't done the annoying start stop feature until the 2024 model and they are still running tried and proven 6 speed autos. They seem slow to change sticking with what’s reliable and proven avoiding change just for the sake of change which I really like. Don't get me wrong, the Rav 4's 8 speed is nice especially with the 203 hp 2.5L and feels shockingly peppy but the Mazda is no slouch either. Moving forward I would like to see them continue to offer both naturally aspirated and turbo without penalty of trim choices. I also would really like to see them add port and direct injection as long term ownership reliability (Our Lexus RX has 392k miles) is most important to us and carbon build up on the valves, while mostly over inflated can occur on direct injection only. An 8 speed automatic would nice as well. Keep at it Mazda. I think you are on a roll now and could surpass others moving forward.
