Inside the USA's Largest Luxury RVs: Deluxe Life on the Open Road | USA Super-rich Documentary
Forget cramped caravans, these luxury camping cars are more like palaces on wheels. Terri and Richard’s is the size of a bus, complete with made-to-measure marble kitchens and bathroom, extendable surfaces and heated toilet seats. It cost over $2 million but enables them to escape the heat of Florida every summer for Michigan. They’re what’s known as ’snowbirds’, spending seasons living in other states.
On average, snowbirds change their cars every two years, turbocharging the luxury van market. The market is also boosted by Hollywood stars. Mariah Carey's features side extensions and an unfolding second floor that can be transformed into a dance floor! Other camping cars come with a helicopter pad on the roof.
Over a million Americans have adopted the ’nomad’ way of life. Some, like Richard, are ‘part timers’, travelling for a few weeks alongside their work. Others, like, Jennifer and JR, who live aboard their bus with their two children, have left their old life behind completely and embraced life on the road.

The family with the dad with the bushy beard seems low key abusive. If a man can’t control his sassiness in front of company and the cameras then just imagine how he talks to his wife when she’s alone.
I feel sorry for those kids. I can see that they arent very " happy" having that full time life style without any friends,no school parties, birthday parties...growing up without enjoy the best of their youth. PS: and in a very "Stressful" environment, with the father in urgent need of a Xanax every 2 hours.
The guy makes me sick. Those poor kids and wife.
agree, its selfish
I am a truck driver living in my small truck. I only got ac fridge and microwave. Bottle of water as a sink and plastic bags as emergency poop toilet. And I am not alone like that.
Too stressful for JR. Think that family needs to rethink their choice. Not healthy.
J.R. needs to take a next-level anger management course.
I think he was stressed before he got on the road. He might have wanted to get away from his 8 to 5 job and imagined being on the road as his escape. But the problem is inside of him. His belief system where he is totally responsible for everything having to do with his wife, children, dogs, etc. is a lot of weight this man is carrying around on his shoulders. He seems to think as the man, it is only his duty to provide. That's why he is so angry when there is no wi-fi. She thinks it was a family decision. He thinks she didn't explain it well enough and now he is pissed off. He hasn't learned to share the pleasures and responsibilities with family members. He must make every decision, no matter how big or small. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't let her drive.
Absolutely!
Guy needs to go, they need to take him to a nice field, like an old dog... He's not fit for the cut.
I've heard good things about neutered subjects behaving better in these situations. Might be too old though.
" I'm going down the road and feel a little tired, I put massage on and get my back rubbed." ..that's my kind of retirement.
That would make me sleep. How scary. Waking up to my motor home being in a lake.

The guy with the kids I will bet he is pleasant to live with
How would you be stuck in a little box with your wife and a couple kids. This guy needs to get out more.
Imagine what he is like when there aren’t cameras on him😮
He handled himself quite well, considering what he had dealt with.
I bet they are divorced already, or will be soon....
uh, threw a hissy fit and left the campsite that they were spending time with her dad because of WIFI, that she told him there wasn't going to be any.... and the way he came at her like it was her fault, he handled the situation horribly... being snarky "Now I gotta get in the jeep and go work" Freaking out about a few scratches... like come on dude @@DanSmith-cb5vj
If JR remains this tense and uptight living the life he wants to live, I wonder how he was before this mobile life.
Right! I can tell he probably has a nasty temper.
I hope JR with his nasty temper and others alike understand what 18 Wheeler drivers got through and making pennies an hour.
At the same time he can EASILY buy himself a wifi booster that he can stop ANYWHERE and with a secure login, do ALL of his work from anywhere at anytime. He's choosing to be angry because he thinks it's not cutting edge technology enough (idk, mebeh?). This has been around for quite a while. I have a friend that camps at an event that is way off grid and can use his booster, and log on to the next major tower (bypass smaller towers) and work in the middle of nowhere the entire day without disconnects or lag. If they are already rich enough to afford the "lifestyle" that is dependant on dad's work, they are ABSOLUTLEY rich enough to add a booster OR TWO to be able to connect to their income without stress.
I'm just glad I can afford to eat at least 1 meal a day
Re: JR & wife (the couple with 2 kids)... You can tell: if the cameras weren't there, he would have absolutely freaked out with a full blown angry temper tantrum.
haha.....right? This type of guy scares me. I would RUN from someone like this. He is probably mean as fk. Men like him make me glad I am single and do not have to live with someone like that.
He seems to be driving very fast.
He's having a great time, but the kids have no friends, no school experience, no life.
Yes little man is quite angry.🤏🏻

6:23 “Robert is a senior executive at Macy’s, one biggest super market chains in America” Lmfao. Macy’s is definitely not a super market chain.
There’s a maceys grocery store but it’s not everywhere
Yeah, I'm only familiar with the Macy's department store and I'm not aware of a Macy's grocery store and if there is 1 then it's definitely not big.
There's a grocery store brand in UT and Intermountain West, and they remind me of Publix.
Yes- Macy’s does not sell groceries, but rather clothes, shoes, purses and makeup. Love that this was made about the US from a British ? Perspective
I shop at Macy’s all the time. It’s the only place I can get jeans that come in a “short” length rather then having to trip over “regular “ length or just not buy “petite” which are made for women who are smaller. But in all the years I’ve shopped there I have never come across a head of lettuce. Or a carton of eggs!
These things are huge!!! I would cringe every time that I'd have to fuel up!!! I used to have two crews of mobile wash rigs that cleaned, waxed and polished these things. Did it for ten years. Met a lot of interesting people!
23:33 the parents never think Abt the kids when they decide to live full time in a RV, the parents have a big ass bed a big ass bedroom but the kids are stuck in a match box room and then they also have to get rid of their toys etc smh heart breaking
@6:22. I am so excited and looking forward to doing all my future supermarket shopping at MACY’S!! 😂
Macy's isnt just a fancy department store, there is a Macy's grocery store chain as well
Lol, I thought I heard that too, so funny!
Yep, there are “Macey’s” grocery in Utah. Apparently 😂
JR clinched his fist, when he found out there wasn't any wifi
Not only Americans are into ultra luxury RVs but also Canadians greetings from southern Ontario Canada
I see some on the QEW on there way to Niagara on the lake
And especially from Fort Erie up the parkway past NF to Niagara on the Lake
Same country like it or not, they're indistinguishable
I also are from southern Ontario. This stuff is NOT camping. Come on, people!!!
Canadians are americans too right?😅
Most states in the US require a CDL if the motorhome's GVWR (weight) is 26,001 lbs or more. This is why "most" motorhomes sold here have a GVWR of 26,000 lbs. It has nothing to do with the number of axles, size of tires, type of fuel, or whether you're towing or not.
JR makes me anxious . He reminds me of my husband: nervous and bossy. My husband doesn’t get away with marginalizing me; I retort back. If I had to do it over again I don’t think I would have married him. I like a peaceful lifestyle.
right??? I sensed he was a bit of a dick. I would NEVER want to be with someone like that. I am so grateful I am single.
Yeah, he's a complete tool. Seems very narcissistic. I feel for the kids tho, not getting to experience longtime friendships and school days.
Wow! A little sexist in here!
Wifs is a nurse, aware of the stress husband is under, and his interreaction with her is a steam prsssure valve. Stress can cause heart attack & stroke from raised high blood pressure. Motel 6 allows cat & dog, only motel I used in 17 moves cross US of A.
What worries me is the daughter saying if her boyfriend or husband wasn't a good driver she wouldn't want to be on the road. And the mom saying that's true. Like the daughter can't drive herself around. They're teaching her to depend on a man instead of being independent, which is sad.
Hmm, what are kids gonna do without wifi? Could hike to a local natural attraction, RVing- the freedom to experience the outdoors!
Dude with the kids most likely make their lives being cooped up with him a living hell....
I agree! That guy is wound way too tight and I believe is a ticking time bomb. She needs to stand up against his unacceptable verbal abuse with a prerogative that says, " Get help for your anger or the kids and I are leaving and my attorney will call you.!
Guy with children, he handed himself quite well considering what he dealt with. Apparently, people that think otherwise must not understand.
The adrenaline surges he faced that day were pretty awful. Given his work required internet access, the tree branch incident could have been a disaster and the fear of the near accident because of that little car and I get it. I think most people with that many adrenaline surges all on one day would probably have been far more vocal. The work one was a total disaster and a perfect reason to have to move. And then to have to face getting back out of there? I think he handled it pretty well. Thank goodness the damage was only cosmetic, on the tree branch incident. I’ve had serious damage on a much lesser motorhome far from home. Not pleasant at all and I only had me to be concerned about. Just checked my own heart rate. It's up just thinking of his day. LOL
@@DindasayswhynotMost of his problems were self-inflicted. He needs to learn defensive driving skills and provide more space between himself and other vehicles and NEVER assume the other drivers actions.

Hey JR, calm TF down.
So many people go to Europe without exploring their own native country. RV looks like a wonderful life, with a little bit of elbow grease.
Rv's are too big, I'd rather take a little camping trailer and have the same fun with less baggage and stress. It is an absolutely beautiful thing but not for me. In my country, it will cost a fortune to fill up, and we will literally have nowhere to go with it because none of our camping sites will have space for such a monster.
my Jayco can go anywhere and is comfy. lol camper on wheels, not a home on wheels. To each their own.

Back in the 1988 we had a 32 ft Coachman motorhome, we took my brother to college in california, we drove from Howard County Maryland to Santa Monica CA. As we were there, we were on the beach and there was a motorhome that wasn't made out of a charter bus and you should have seen this thing it had everything in it, including washer and dryer bar and everything else, they were selling it for $250,000 and we were going to buy it.
Nice! I am from Kenya, but have lived in Santa Monica since 2009.
That guy cleaning his motor home need to see a doctor. All they had in their cabinets were chips and cookies. That’s crazy at their age.

Imagine: you have worked all your life to afford this, what a lifestyle!
I was born and raised in Petoskey and still living there!
Kudos to them to have all that. I don't know if, even if I was that rich, I could justify having that much opulence. Marble floors? Not just no, but hell no. That TV is what I call a neck wrecker. Have to watch from a sideways seated position and it's tiny. My $7,000 coach has a 49" TV in it thanks to a pull down window shade opposite the couch and a mini projector that I installed myself. Cost under $100. LOL Since I used a light filtering window shade, I can do rear projection and display video loops visible through the window which is great fun at holiday time.
Macy's is not a Supermarket chain, it's a Department store. They don't sell groceries at Macy's, just clothing, shoes, bedding, bric-a-brac, lighting, Makeup, Perfume, jewelry, and such. But never groceries. Supermarkets like Walmart sell everything, food, clothes, shoes, appliances, electronics, Garden supplies, automotive supplies, and automotive service. That is the definition of a Supermarket. With that said, it's nice to see how the other half live in lavish RVs and posh resorts that 99% of Americans can't afford.
They earned it. It’s their money they should spend it as they like. Added bonus is the RV’s create manufacturing jobs, mechanics, painters, tech writers, designers, and on.
Lol Macy's is a grocery chain in Utah
It's all God's plans. Honest money. Congrats to them. I would ❤️ it.
In that case more than 80% Americans consider very rich compared to most developing countries.. people in usa don't realize how lucky they are... be contained or you never fulfill your desires
@Joy-dx8ej Yes, a lot of people do not know that Macy's is a grocery store in Utah and a very good one.
I guess if you have the financial availability, you can build a villa next to your mega RV. Not sure why, but I guess if you got it flaunt it.

What a great vacation. Drive an enormous, fuel thirsty vehicle through traffic on the interstates only to park the behemoth next to another behemoth and try to out do each other with how luxurious their motor home is over everyone else’s. I love this subtle British English commentary humorous satire on American lifestyle. Told with a totally straight face that made me laughed so much. Funny that viewers don't notice it, which makes it totally brilliant! Reminds me a crazy song titled "Money can't buy you class" People to easily fall for an Instagram delusion of glamorous lifestyle at the RV parks. I have seen quite a few and it's nothing like that. Reality will hit you hard especially when you sell your house and commit 100% to this lifestyle without realizing what you are getting into and at least testing it for a while. It has nothing to do with freedom but rather opposite.
I noticed.
They are so lucky and happy!! A little bit of hoarders, but who cares when you can live like that. You just want to hug them all.
Pet peeve: when the driver had to brake for the truck that stopped he didn't slow down. He assumed the guy would turn rather than be careful and slow down in case he did have to stop. Just keep plowing on. And his anger needs to be worked on. Crap happens and the branch hitting it wasn't the end of the world like he portrayed. He's got a lot to learn. Sadly his kids watch their dad be a tool.
Thought I was the only one. Who cares how many times they could have turned? You have to drive defensively and to protect yourself. We’ve all done it but he’s uptight about a lot of things.
Not to mention how JR speaks to his wife. Poor thing!
Don’t expect perfection!🫤😄

They r lucky cause the kids get to see the world and meet people so don't think they will have problems social skills.
But study periods of 15 min are not conducive to learning very much. These kids are going to grow up lacking a decent education at the rate mom is going.
A simple car license indeed. Any able bodied driver with a class 5, maybe with an airbrake endorsement if needed, can put one of these down the highway. I've always said that operators of these units should require a good amount of driver training and be tested before given a license to drive them. No different than the Class 1 or A license.
Exactly, if they knew how to drive it they wouldn’t have a hard time parking it.
Yeah I have a regular license and I wouldn’t even attempt to drive one of these. Anyone that’s gonna drive one of these should have to get their CDL’s. Or at the very least be required to do classes and then a driving test to show you know how to drive and park it.
I agree (being a retired OTR truck driver that had a class A license for 10 years driving team with my husband). I observed JR driving WAY too fast on the narrow two lane hwy. and NOT driving defensively when he had to avoid the stopped vehicle turning left on the hwy. He was following too closely to control his stopping distance. I believe these RV drivers should be required to have a class A license in order to be trained and tested for safety reasons.
I’m fully licensed to drive anything up to 40 feet in length. In the USA my British driving license is recognised for driving any length of vehicle. Personally I believe it’s not safe just to practice for a couple of hours before hitting the road. I’d prefer to take lessons over a few days to include the basics of maintaining the vehicle in the event of a breakdown. It’s irresponsible to be driving such large RVS without any experience nor the ability to change a fuse or a tyre. The one thing that really bothers me is seeing all these luxury motorhomes and possibly one fire extinguisher 🧯 Your going to need one every few feet especially in bathrooms where there’s no exit. Too many people have died or been seriously injured due to fires 🔥 in my opinion. It’s a fantastic lifestyle and good to see that prices are plummeting and the latest models are not selling without very substantial discounts. Those covid days are over and the cutbacks are reflected in the quality or lack thereof and good quality support and spares. I’m suggesting that a number of the top manufacturers are heading towards bankruptcy. Just wait for the bubble to burst 💥 and then negotiate hard. New models are not selling. Embrace the experience and be safe.
You casually mention an airbrake. But surely you do realize there's frequent maintenance involved with airbrakes including draining the water and topping off with more air.

Blessings to them that they have financial freedom and spend all on themselves. 99% of the population is scratching to survive. Blessings to them.
Yes, the commentator makes it sound like everyone in the US is fluttering around with money to burn. He sounded jealous. I wish I could afford to lollygag around this great country paying $500 for a diesel fill up. Fuel, mechanical maintenance and cosmetic maintenance could run a hefty penny too. To do what these people are doing you'd have to be a multi-multi-millionaire. Most people with that kind of scratch don't want to swat skeeters.
Do they need blessings then?
@bakielh229 Everyone needs blessings for something. I.e. being blessed with wisdom to know who to marry, where to work, or how to maintain good family relationships. Not necessarily just financial security.

JR is one angry dude. Getting upset over scratches that he says can be buffed out of his expensive RV, having to drive his expensive Wrangler to get wifi, real rich man problems there. Also, he should leave some more following distance between him and the cars ahead, make it easier to stop in an emergency. Guy seems to want to blame everyone for his problems too.
By American standards JR is not rich , just a middle class guy.
You can get a very good RV with much less. My husband and I are planning to get a RV when we retire. It is the lifestyle and freedom to travel that attracted to so many people to own RV. There are over 10 million American own RV
And most of them are sitting in a storage yard somewhere.
