    • I've found fresh cut bluegill around weedlines, usually on the shallower side, catch me quite a few. Older cutbait is not as good for some reason. I tend to catch a lot while going for catfish. Small live bluegill and even chicken livers work sometimes too. If in an area with current try to find backwater areas and slack water as they seem to prefer that over moving water. They can survive in water other fish cannot by gulping air just like gar and are happy to hang out in muddy backwaters and shallow coves sometimes. Weedlines are best bets though, on the bottom of course!

  • If you are using circle hooks I would recommend to just reel into the fish quickly. I have been told that with a circle hook you are not supposed to set the hook. I don't use circle hooks often though. I was just told that by an angler that I repect for his opinion.

    @tamserenity@tamserenity2 жыл бұрын
    • People should also use heavier tackle and heavier line than needed with catch and release, people don't realize that many fish end up dying after you release them due to exhaustion because of long fights where people reel them in for mad long because they are using 4-6lb line for big fish. A "long fight" is a bad thing for the fish.
