It's true: great minds think alike!😊
They're inside the walls!
Absolutely loved your 'companion' video of katsudon that included leftover katsu (which anyone can sub for leftover fried meat tbh)!
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I really appreciate that Alvin very often shows or talks about doing something with the leftovers. 💖
I came here to say the same thing. Love the random distraction showing how to use everything they have.
I agree!! Love the side quest. Does he do this in all his videos? I don’t often watch the ones he makes
@@scarlettb_1738 In most of them, he does. Alvin's stuff is honestly really great. He's really charming and the way he cooks (and uses all his extra stuff to sort of mess around) is quite relatable.
kevin nation
Embodying the spirit of Sanji :D
I love how you always mention what happens with the leftovers and highlight ways to use the scraps. So many cooking shows seem to produce a ton of food waste and just never mention it.
The evolution of this segment's name is wonderful 😂. Anything with Alvin though is quite fitting. It has reached it's final form.
Wish he just stayed at Anime. Binging making video game food is so much better
@@dazedandconfused5711this isn't anime with Alvin, it's anything. They just posted 2 anime episodes. It's not taking over that sub series.
But the videogame food series is Arcade with Alvin @@dazedandconfused5711
The way Alvin talks about sharing food with all the hardworking members of Babish is very comforting.
I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but huge shoutout to Alvin and the crew absolutely Carrying the BCU with their talent while Andrew took care of himself.
Well it was also due to Andrew not making movie/TV content during the strikes.
@@Oregonduck09well he started with fake movie/tv show recipes, but those stopped as well after a while
WhaT happened with Andrew?
Is it a coincidence that both Kenji and Babish are making Katsudon videos at the exact same time?
Great minds etc 😊
right!
Ifkr?! I thought I was seeing double
Always wild to see two videos like that pop up one right next to another in your sub box.
I thought I was having a stroke
I didn't know whisks can grow so much when you feed them with a flour and egg mixture 6:18 . You learn something new everyday.
We get a leftover video AND an Alvin video, in one? We are truly blessed this day.
The creation with the left overs intrigued me more than the katsudon. I kinda want to try making that.
I always love Alvins leftover side-quests. I've noticed myself starting to do this too now; used the last of the broccolis from my garden for this season and only needed the florets for sunday lunch (am I british enough yet?). Steamed the stems a bit and used some leftover paella from earlier in the week and stripped the chicken carcass from the aforementioned lunch to make this sort of fried rice dish for the evening; was very tasty and surprisingly the rice didn't disintegrate!
Alvin just riffing in the kitchen, vibing with the food, makes such a relaxing video. Very onboard with anything more in this series.
I love how you guys try to keep using ingredients you have on hand from previous shows and attempt make use of as much as you can. Maybe other shows do that too, but its nice to see the Babish Universe goes out of their was to be mindful of waste.
Always down to watch anything with Alvin
This brand new spinoff episode totally reminds me of your days back at BuzzFeed, and I'm glad you're going back to relive it here in the BCU, Alvin.
It's so sweet that you feed Steve like that
Just made me think of a character who's favorite food is katsudon
Love how Alvin expanded to more than anime and video game food. Also Steve is one lucky man! 😃
I always get relaxed AND hungry from Alvin's videos!

Love your content 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Only reason, I don't get this. There's no such thing as frozen pork patties. And, when you got to the market. The cut's of pig are all hickory dickory doc. Cream of wheat tik cream of wheat tok.
LOVE that it’s now anything with Alvin! Love that guy!
Choujuku Shokupan 6 slices of medium-thick soft white bread. I always bought the bread from Pasco (Japanese bread brand company), which costs $1.13. I like it because the ingredients are simple. toasted bread with butter, 4 slices I prefer. sandwiches, 8 (or 10) slices. …usually numbered by slices (4, 5, 6 and 8) to indicate how many slices in the package and how thick the slices are.
I feel like giant katsu doesnt have the right breading to meat ratio, and a lot of the bites would just taste like pretty plain pork because its so thick. I normally find around 3/4" to be ideal, but the idea to use sous vide to precook the porkchops sound interesting, it would make cooking a whole lot of them faster and probably more juicy.
I enjoyed how you dealt with the leftover ingredients.
i love how i just learned how to make tonkatsu and katsudon this week and this comes out. now I can perfect my bowls
Soon: Everything, everywhere, all at once by Alvin.
if I recall correctly, in a documentary I watched they said panko breadcrumbs were made by cooking the bread with an electrical current which crystalizes the bread structure.
私の知ってるカツ丼ではないけれど、とても美味しそうです🤤
I like the casual way you're going on a sidequest 💜
it's fun, aesthetically the omelette was very close to a classic spanish tortilla (the eggs/chips/onions one). cool to see two meals instead of just one in a purely serendipitous way
I've been watching BCU for like five years, and I've never liked or commented on a video. Alvin, your action of letting your crew taste your delicious creation before you warmed my dark heart, and I felt inspired to like and comment. Bless you.🖤
I was just thinking about making this again! Nice to see it made in another way!
I actually miss seeing Alvin's face when he does these giant food episodes. He used to laugh and joke around and be silly when he did this and you can tell he had a lot of fun.
I love the side quests to use leftovers ❤️
i just love how you find ways not to waste food ❤️
Yesssssss i was wound about the sauce used and now I can make it my self
I appreciate this channel's dedication to not wasting food.
Stunningly beautiful. The fresh panko seemed to yield an especially nice texture and color. I think I'd still prefer normal, thinner slices for a higher ratio of bread to meat, but it sure looked perfectly cooked, and no doubt delicious with that sauce.
Steve is a well fed camera man
Freeze the bread slices before using the box grater. Works great to get those large bread crumbs.
my man Alvin almost broke his back carrying this channel
I want the mystery left over food so bad! :D❤
You couldn't recreate the panko because panko is made by running electricity through dough.
I'm taking its a sign. I just left the store with the ingredients to meal prep katsudon for the week
Ayo this has to be my favorite episode of Big Food with Alvin
I watch those type of videos when it's about asian dishes and how it is wonderful to see it.
I know others have said this but I want to say it too, that I really enjoy how Alvin always shows how to make something with whatever scraps or leftover things there are. This should be normalized for all cooking videos!
I was making this for over I year now, it's super delicious 😋
Amazed to see one of the very videos I've watched of Japanese katsudon being made while unable to sleep at 3AM at the beginning of this video !!
It doesn't physically contain any okonomiyaki ingredients, but given that the name just means "Fried favorites" I think it should count!
Thats not Panko. Panko is made from electrocuted dough, invented during world war II as a means to make bread without fire. They just used tank batteries. The texture is very different to common white bread.
Riffing over the bread crusts and ending up with that beautiful breakfast conglomerate was a great angle. Do that mor!
I love that Katsudon video!
Dang, that looks really yummy!🤤
Man he made 2 versions of a giant katsudon
"Anything with Alvin" sounds like my watch history.
If I ever get fired from my job I want to work in a place where Alvin regularly brings up leftover omelets for us.
Alvin should get his own channel fr
He has his own channel my guy. The cookie recipe is great.
I remember watching this same katsudon video while I skipped lunch!
Fun fact: Panko isn't actually a normal loaf-style bread, it's "baked" using an electrical current that gives it the distinct texture the crumbs made from it are known for.
Hey Babish, there's a specific scene in the film Transporter 3 that describes an exquisite dish based on Veal 😌 I haven't actually seen any you tube videos covering it so I think it would make a fun episode for this channel 🔥 plus based on how detailed the scene is, it could prove to be a decent challenge 😂
The toast omelette was better looking that the main event! I usually do a Spanish tortilla, but this also has some real possibility
You guys should make the pastrymenchen from fionna and cake!
Alvin going back to his roots by making giant food.
This is so beautiful and wholesome! Love the fact that y'all make something amazing with the leftover ingredients Edit: Whoa I'm early!
I'm loving alvin
4:00 oh it's almost like a savory bread pudding
Well I've learnt where panko breadcrumbs come from.....the more you know 🤷♀️❤️
Ahh basically making it big again!!!!!
"Oh he is going to make Crotons" "Never mind"
Steve is my favorite person. I wish I could be like Steve. I wish I could take home all the leftovers xD
Steve is the sweetest person ever!! A joy to work with and be around.
can you try the traditional katsudon sometime?
ive just had a nice dinner and im starving again
Freeze and THEN grate it! Works perfectly.
Makes sense. Firm it up, and the grater can do its job.
this looks delicious.😋🤤❤
Alvin is so precious 🥰
Alvin is carrying this channel
On your next anime based dish, you should make Oyakodon based from the 100 Girlfriends anime. If you haven't watched it, it's super funny
Thanks for showing a meal suggestion for the food scraps! Always great to show people ways to avoid wasting food.
you are saving this channel Alvin ✊
that rice looked perfect
Alvin should make the foxtail millet ramen from Dr Stone
Try doing homers bell pepper martini from the Simpsons
love your content❤
I have to admit, I like Alvin's non-soggy version best. But to each their own.
First it was Binging with Babish , then Anime with Alvin, and now it’s Snacking with Steve
7:28 what a beautiful crunch sound that can't be heard in the video.
This looks delicious.
i got a babish ad before the video even started
1:17 GENERAL KENOBI!!
Kenji and BCU making the same dish, uploaded at the same minute? How odd.
The ol' hold-the-knife-like-a-sword grip.
You're amazing! 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Shout out to the highly scientific finger section method for cooking rice. Still don’t understand how it works but it totally does.
For a future Arcade with Alvin, how about that wedding cake from Super Mario RPG?
Savory japanese "bread pudding" vibes
Why does the word “katsudon” seem like the name of a dinosaur to me? 😂
Odon is greek for tooth and a lot of prehistoric animals were named X-don to describe them. Iguanadon for example was named literally Iguana-Tooth.
And if anyone can make giant foods, it’s Alvin!
Alvin fr carrying this channel on his back
4:10 😂
That looks like something you'd eat in monster hunter
