Pro Exploiter Vs Strategy Game - Millennia Is A Perfectly Balanced Game With No Exploits
What happens if you take a professional video game exploiter and pay them to break an up and coming strategy game. Well the boffins over at paradox interactive decided that I should become a paid QA tester and push their game to the limits. Of Course this meant I discovered infinite gold exploits, teleportation exploits, god mode glitches and the ability to complete a science victory in the first turn of the game. All pretty standard behaviour for a pro exploiter like the spiffing brit!
If you enjoyed the new 4x Civilization like strategy game then you can check out millennia here: millennia.paradoxinteractive....
the tagline is simple: Create your own nation in Millennia, a historical turn-based 4X game that challenges your strategic prowess across 10,000 years of history, from the dawn of humanity to our possible futures.

Another one has bite the dust
glad they've welcomed the obvious thing to do :)
The Spiffing Brit, the inventor of "emergent gamebrake". Thanks for your videos!
Should we consider paradox the new maxis?
So you're basically a paid play tester here without any of the health insurance and other benefits the company would be normally forced to cover you as one of hteir employees.
Game devs are realizing that spiff doesn't only promote your game but he also makes quality control. Perfectly balanced.
I submitted over 25 bugs and feedback suggestions to the devs so yeah I like to think they got their moneys worth and the game will continue to improve :)
@@thespiffingbritA true fine gentleman indeed
@@thespiffingbrit I heard a myth that it was your actual profession (to play test games until breaking point). Is the myth true?

Meanwhile France is cheering in the background lol
Captain B. H. Liddell Hart and J. F. C. Fuller were British tea drinkers so...
That’s what I was thinking-
Spend money to make money, but in this case - the money is violence and the violence also cures you so long as you have the most violence. Spifftastic!
the natural wonderful cycle of violence
You know what they say, Blood for the Blood god
Spiffonomics applied to military history
"Paid in the blood of my enemies" takes a whole new meaning with this strategy, the truly British way of sharing one's culture
@@claudioledgard331Skulls for the Golden Throne?
Beginning with exploits. Ending with an AC130 bombing the French. Truly perfection
In 1545 AD too, when matchlock firearms had barely been invented 😂
I need more kleaper and spiff colabs to feed my hungry soul demon
Soldiers: "We like dis Emperor... We will pay him to be his army!"
For a raider, that might be a thing. Pay your own way for a share of the loot.
Couldn't get more British that that. For example, the Duke of Wellington, the guy who beat Napoleon at Waterloo, paid a commission to be granted a rank and given a command in the army.
@@Valchrist1313 Given the results, that was a very good move.
@@Valchrist1313”I will pay you to let me beat that guy”
@@Valchrist1313 Quite literally "You all suck, and i'll pay you to let me prove you all suck. Point me at the best one, i'll win."
This isn't the first time Paradox specifically has hired Spiff to break their games. They get promotion, quality control, and tea. It's really a perfectly balanced scenario for them.
with no exploits whatsoever
Tea is the most important of course
Seeing as how many time Paradox let Spiff break their games it sure look like it's worth it for them xD
@@gagamer7251 as all things should be ;)
this is not a good advertisement for the game, honestly.
For those curious for a real world history comparison. By the time Spiff is using early WWII bombers in 1520, in the real world of 1520, King Henry VIII was only 29 years old and was still married to his first wife. That is an insane leap forwards in tech.
His Lancaster bombers were build very close to a time of Lancastrian kings of Britain. 😀
@@mortisCZ It’s such a baffling high of technology for the time, Henry VIII could have attended his 5th wife’s funeral in a Ford Mustang.
To be fair, this happens in every 4x game. Civ 6 is no different.
14:40 "War, what is it good for? Well, the economy is doing well" is such a sad, accurate statement.
I always love seeing a game dev decide to hire spiff, they probably get a massive work load to fix bugs and glitches after he’s done with it.
Let's game it out is the true game test.
Much cheaper than hiring a "pro" testing company.
@@danhammond8406 I'd say they have different profession Spiff takes loopholes and breaks game mechanics to win. LGIO takes ungodly amounts of time and breaks limits of your computer. So Bug Catcher vs Stress tester I'd say ^^
@@SinclairWest lgia will also ignore the tutorial, all ingame messages, missions and waypoints. He would even not hit the "play button" if asked so. And he will find a way around every possible likit. Legendary guy.
I saw the anti kleper play this and then saw your video and knew I HAD to watch you break it
I saw his run. A valiant cheese indeed
5:10 Spiff breaking the game by summoning Bronze Age Collapse sounds...rather historically fitting, for once.
Don't think the Hittites were brought down by a B-29 raid followed by an assault from Heuy gunships, however.
The devs benefit hard from sponsorships like this. They paid Spiff for one video, and in turn found several dozen _features_ they didn't in their own playtesting! I wish devs did stuff like this more often!
And gained visibility and hype to boot! I'd never heard of this game, and now I can't wait to see the chaos unleashed upon release!
@@micahphilson They don't get any hype or visibility from this: the game looks bad, and this video tells me that not only does it look bad, it's actually bad.
@@TheFanatical1visibility is visibility, it doesn't have to be good
@@TheFanatical1 spiff is, for a lack of a better term, a well publicized play tester. he is literally doing what people like me do for the indie scene for contract. they pay him to play, break, and promote their game. in return they get a list of things to fix, advertising, and he gets money and content. its win win for both parties involved. hes QA for them.
the best part of waking up is folgers in your cup
you cheeky bastard
Heretic!!!
I only drink bean tea or harbor tea
thats right, it's Folgers!
Blue Mountain coffee Files Folgers is over priced floor dirt.
Other youtubers - age of blood sounds bad, let's avoid it Spiff - Hard turn towards age of blood, that sounds fantastic!
I was hoping to see someone try going for it and Spiff did not disappoint
Quill18 went for age of blood too but largely because of his viewers encouragement.
“Violence isn’t the answer, it is the question. The answer is yes.”
I love the fact that you are not afraid to use the adjective 'silly'. Such a good word that is rarely spoken these days.
While actual QA professionals are a resource that are woefully underappreciated and undervalued(most the time), shipping your game to Spiff to be broken is just a smart thing to do in any case :D And if you happen to make a game that Spiff can't exploit, well, that would certainly be a box cover note better than any "X gave it 10/10".
Was gonna say the same. Instead of paying QA staff, just send Spiff a free copy
@lfemomo77 I know it's a joke but please pay Q&A. Spiff videos cannot replace the work and current year releases are so often an incredibly buggy mess.
Bold Print in 30 font : "We finally made a game that Spiff could not break!" - No game developer, ever.
Definetaly a good note, especially as QA is talking of thousands of bug reports :D@@l0rf
This is a great move you get QA bug testing and advertisement at the same time, Ai isn't stealing jobs this perfectly balanced man is
Watching a tea-addicted british man breaking games with absolutely no effort really tickles my brain
Well, it took him 80 hours of playtime before making this video, so not really "no effort" 😂
Not the first time developers did that. Imo, every developer should pay Spiff to break their game for quality assurance. Heh.
"somehow, having a standing army makes me money" america would like to know your location
13:00 I see The Spiffing Brit, in true British fashion, brought blood, chaos and misery to the world and profited from it.
the best part of watching thespiffing brit is folgers in your cup
A spiff video means a good day
well I hope your having a lovely day now
that and some coffe.. . . (looks at spiffs armies) . . yorkshire tea
Ahh My favorite Yorkshire Tea Enjoyer once again conquering the world through devious machinations
Spiff is the best QA tester cause no matter the game he'll find a way to become a God
What's crazy is Ursa Ryan did basically this same strat totally "legit" on a random okay start and without the age of blood and still managed to get like 20 vassals or so by midgame and just absolutely ran away with the game on the highest difficulty. They probably need to cap the forced marches/reinforcement uses per unit per turn and fix the math so you can't be paid gold to have army, and maybe reduce the amount of healing those raiders get or something. Local reforms lets you giga capital while still spawning a ton of units and taking a ton of vassals. Then if you want some more cities later you can just integrate the best ones whenever. This build can get pretty unhinged.
The issue here is the ai is really bad at defending its cities, a very basic defense should stop this. Also this a game that's balanced around every being powerful, which spif does explain.
I had one too many Yorkshire teas and have Yorkshire Shat my britches 😢 I blame you, Sir Spiff >:(

Raiders > million vassals > kingdom is absolutely broken. Ursa Ryan did the same strategy and it is absolutely glorious
After hard days at work, I enjoy coming home and watching your videos. Thanks for always making great content
you are the kind of good and relaxing video that wait just around the corner when you dont anticipate thx for cup of tea
Nothing better than opening KZhead and theres a brand new Spif video. Stupendous
Shout out to MATN. I’ve been following him for a couple years now. I feel like the two of you should collab on a Fallout challenge video of some kind. Given Jon’s overall knowledge of the game and your propensity for breaking every game you get your hands on, it could make for some interesting content.
What a great video!!!! Fun from start to finish. Really enjoyed it!
I love that you upload Great exploits more frequently. 😊
When I saw other KZheadrs made videos about this new game, I waited for the king’s answer
Just sat down to have a cup of Yorkshire gold and this video came up… thanks spiff!
the kind of ad i want to see, an amazing spiff video AND iˋm excited to try this game!
So many tubers known for exploiting these games have been doing videos on this. This is the best fine tuning and bug-quashing method for a game I've ever seen.
"another strategy game from Paradox Interactive" You mean to say "Another game with a lot of future overpriced DLC from Paradox Interactive"
I cannot understand your concerns atop my golden plated horse Armor curtesy of Todd Howard
@@thespiffingbrit It just works :)
It's published by paradox. Not made by them.
I like paradox games, so I buy them. If it has a DLC I want, I buy it. If I don't, I am satisfied with the free content patch. It's really that simple. Now, if you don't, I don't care.
@@justjesse4276 And... it's like saying oh yes, Call of Duty isn't made by Activision, it's only published by Activision... It doesn't matter if it's Infinity Ward that makes the game, or if it's Treyarch that makes the game or Sledgehammer Games that makes the game... They just cycle the studios and there's one thing guaranteed battlepasses and DLC... for all eternity.
This is truly a playlist for us tea drinkers. Love the background music.
The cup part of foldgers up is waking in your best😂😂😂
I actually really want to see more, hopefully there might be a stream but spiff always does something interesting for culture victories
they really shouldn't have paid you for this because I was thinking about buying this game before I saw this video.

I've beeeeeen waiting for this😭😭 I knew he'd thrive on this😂
Perfect. I just finished watching Spiff's 10 hour montage of perfectly balanced Civ VI gameplay.
aside from the shift click instant research, ursa ryan has done the raiders failry comprehensively.
I absolutely convinced Paradox know exactly what they're doing when they send a game to Spiff.
Somebody is hiring the spiff to break a game.... Beautiful.
Seeing spiff release a video on you game wire "Zero Balance" in the thumbnail must be terrifying for all game devs
Spiff I love you even more for that spaceship troopers thing
From one brit to another, I believe we should rename London into Spifftopia. It's as intricate and elaborate as fine "British" art taken from only the finest French painters and is far less glum than London.
As another Brit I approve, The Thames should be renamed The Tea...
Fortnum and Mason can become the new royal mint
Shouldn't London have a glum name though ? It's not exactly bright, colorful and sunny
Yeah, but Spifftopia evokes and lights a fire within every British person, making them more patriotic towards their country
The combat looks like it was made 20 years ago, what the hell is this?
Sat back, had a cup of delicious Yorkshire Tea Gold and enjoying a Spiff video 🔥
Been binging spiff for the last 3 nights, a 12 hour shift is certainly far more enjoyable with that beautiful British accent. Glad to have a new video finally
58% reviews on steam, lots of reviewers calling it hot garbage, boring and only peer to peer multiplayer like its the year 2000 all over again.
The music choice of this Video and the overall pacing is crazy good. Keep it up
The drums at the start made it unwatchable for me. Does it change??
@10:50 I'd have to guess the Crossbow should be x3.0 damage but is instead +3.0x damage, thus dealing 4x damage... which is all kinds of pun worthy in a 4X game.
12:49 "would you like to know more" Starship Troopers lol
I was wondering if anyone else noticed lol
Rule Britannia, Britannia rule the waves, Britons never, never will be slaves. I think it's better than 'Long live the king'.
"britons" very notably were slaves
Barbary pirates raid, “hi”
Day 298 of asking Spiff to play Battle Realms. Paradox back at it again, making Spiff the balance tester of dreams.
Historians: "we never knew who these sea peoples were that caused a massive bronze age collapse" Spiff: "allow me to introduce myself~"
This is such a genius move man. Its just the gaming world version of hiring offensive security specialists, plus advertising bundled in.
Kind of sad how the UI and map look beautiful, but the combat looks like it's made by a 5 year old lol 🤣
congratulations to all of you who were here "first."

I believe Millennia is a great game, because the game brought me to this video and your channel
The best spiff videos are the ones that feature unintentional exponential growth
I didnt expect the starship troopers reference, thank you.
The marketing brain behind it is a genius. I know its for advertisment and i ENJOY it!!
1:00 that backing beat is dope in the early 90's hip-hop way.
"Cult of tea" what a delightful name for such a delightful game Excellent work king spiff
I do love that spiff is effectively a QA tester that decided to become an entertainer
I have nothing of note to say, I haven't even started the video. I just showed up, his the thumbs up and am about to enjoy 21 minutes and 18 seconds, which will take me half an hour because I'll need a refill half way through, of good Spiffing-ness. Ahoy-hoy, off we go.
I love the refrences to my boy MATN.
That is actually pretty clever marketing for the devs. Leave in exploits, invite Spiffing to have a field day with them disguissed as exploit find test playing, and then patch the exploits once the new players start arriving.
Love the Starship Troopers reference at 12:55 😂
Spiff with a game is like the Lock Picking Lawyer... give it to me, I'll have it cracked in no time...
The beat at the beginning of video was actually a banger
This is just so vintage and wonderful. Thanks for the entertainment, Spiff. Been a rough one, and I needed a good laugh!
Paradox Dev to his project manager: "Sir we have completed the testing and have found our game to be perfect and ready for the market with absolutely no bugs or glitches whatsoever. PM to Dev: Send it to the Spiff. Dev: ....Oh GOD!!!! PLEASE SIR ITS PERFECT Spiff: OH, YES IT IS AND ILL PROVE IT BY BREAKING IT
Oh wow. This is the most glorious game breaking I have ever seen from you. And the devs might actually patch it seeing as they asked you to play in the first place
Thanks for pointing to these game breaking 'features' Lets hope Paradox fix them asap.
I wanna know how many developers just slide into Spiff’s DMs like “break my game Daddy, I mean heeeeeey” xD
Just casually turning this game into a hold my beer (or in this case, tea) moment with other youtubers
tod howard would be proud to join a game like this, all the features you could ever dream of
i watch every video on the date of release and drink coffee while i do and NO ONE will stop me
Aah Paradox, never change! This is amazing :D
When I learned about how broken the Raiders are, I knew they made the perfect feature for you.
I loved the Starship Troopers reference haha
I absolutely love the Chaos Ages in this game. It’s an incredible mechanic.
The starship troopers drop would you like to know more was perfect
I love it when Spiff comes across an exploit that can best be described as "violating the laws of thermodynamics"
That powerpuff girls intro was pure class, especially with "chemical x" being "exploits". **chef's kiss** wonderful. ....also the "would you like to know more?" edit xD
Why do I feel like spiff would be successful in any endeavor? It's not just the accent trust me this guy is top notch.
