YES!! going for a modern borderline minimalist aesthetic doesn't really work with that ottoman (it looks out of place), that item is made for a more busy, patterned and bright-colored house

Maybe for a future community challenge you could do a build inspired by a specific item challenge instead of having the same shell everyone needs to use the same item or the same few items picked by you. It would be very interesting to see what crazy ideas people could come up with given the same items.

Part of me is thankful that she pack restricts, and the other part of me thinks that videos like this where you're matching a specific item you should just use all the packs available so that you can get the best matching things

I would have completely flipped her downstairs floor plan lol, as soon as she blocked off the right side I was thinking that would be a good kitchen and dining room since it has the door to the outside, kind of makes me want to download this and rebuild the downstairs 😂
Same here, the whole time I sat here thinking "why on Earth would you have a back door in the kid's room?" Once I get the High School pack, I may download this house and change it up.
I was thinking the same. Although I usually prefer an open floor plan, I think it would have worked well with an archway under the stairs into a kitchen. But her finished product is very nice. Kayla, you are a very talented builder and decorator. Love your builds❤

You should have more confidence in your wall choices because they are great! The green leaf wall, the few dark green accent walls, plus white walls are just perfect! I honestly really love this house.

kayla, i beg you, USE TINTED LIGHTS IN YOUR BUILDS!!! a warmer tinted light would be amazing in this build and it totally makes everything blend together. please try it😭 it’s a life saver
But you need to have a household in to be able to change the light color and then it restrict you in the building.

I was crying the whole time because of the floors had been a lighter color, it wouldn’t have really been as hard to pick colors. The floors were just slightly too yellow-y and ended up clashing very subtly with a lot of the swatches.
Yes! As a maximalist builder my rule of thumb is "when in doubt, use a lighter, understated floor" It makes the room look bigger, doesn't clash and you can put as many rugs on top as you want to!
Genuinely love the fresh video with no limitations, fully creative, different wallpapers which look really good, and new items. It's a good change of pace. Don't be so hard on yourself. We like this stuff.
I like that there's more color than usual and the style is more modern! I would've done some things more differently, but it still turned out great! 😊

This house feels really Sims 2 to me in a weird way, especially before some of the extra interior walls/cut offs were added. This sorta brightly coloured wooden house and the light wood furniture along with the huge back porches... it's just a Sims 2 vibe.
I thought this garden was perfect for a little greenhouse, with the pretty glass roofs 🌱♥️

i actually like when the build is more improvised, it definitely makes you try new things and use items you might not have normally, and i feel like the results are always more unique

I feel like Kayak had a hard time because that ottoman is very art-deco, maximalist, "trendy" as she said, and she's usually more comfortable with a suburban, minimalist, traditional style. It's great to see her branching out tho! Simsie, I love seeing you trying new stuff, I hope you'll try to do other challenges like this and be a little more bold and experimental with the finished build. Love your videos!

To be honest, this is my favorite build from simsie, nothing else has surpassed how much I love absolutely everything about this house.

Hey simsie, to fix the gap in the fridge and the wall you can put a cabinet above and then go one down and place it underneath and then repeat it’s still use able and it should look right! I Hope you see this and it helps! I got this information from Emma Nicole’s KZhead short- How to create a built-in Fridge in the sims!
This pack is a little bit out of your comfort zone and I think u made it looks so good in this house!
Will go SO well with Blooming Rooms kit, Cottage Living, the leaf paintings from Tiny Living...would even make a great apartment. Don't forget the leafy wallpapers.
The beauty of decorating with green is that you can mix shades and it looks good because it mimics nature imo, I love greens with jewel tones as well :)

i actually think the brighter yellow rug works really well with the green bedroom. it looks really interesting and gives kind of a midcentury modern bedroom vibe :>
So pretty! I just decorated the living room in my new house around a rug, with a dark green accent wall and teal and golden yellow accents.
as a builder who furnishes every house in a maximalist style, you saying "is it too much?" absolutely makes me cackle!! my houses are ALWAYS so colourful & have patterns on patterns so i'm here like no lil, you CAN go over the top there's no such thing as too much!

Kayla, I know you were kinda iffy on some things and wondered if the plant wallpaper was too much or whatever, but this house is so cute!!! If my ancient laptop could run the Sims, I'd download this in a heartbeat! (Also I vote for the seating on the back porch! It looked like it fit in that space more than the chess table, imo.)
