A Huge thank you to PA CEO Marshall for throwing this my way for review. After getting my hands on the SLx 1x from Patreon supporter Lars, I immediately had high hopes for this. Fortunately, my expectations were met with assurance as to the ability of this thing.

  • I still feel they could out acog the acog if they really wanted to. They don't have any optics with fiber optic illumination and even if they could pull off an $800 price tag that's still several hundred less than the acog but you'll have the acss Reticles available to you. Idk I think a 4x or 5x prism plx would definitely sell because some people don't like spending money on trijicon when they refuse to update past 2005 features

    • Exactly all they need is to make is essentially an ACOG with a diopter. It’s insane that hasn’t happened yet.

  • I'd fall right into that small group of people that would buy a "PLX 2x" model if they made one, the GLX already has better FOV and eye relief than an ACOG, if they made a harder more improved version than it already is I'd say say money well spent.

  • this is an amazing optic, i always catch my self going back and forth between this GLX 2x and my LPVO lol. mainly because of weight. If I'm out shooting steel i take the GLX2x if im out shooting paper i take my LPVO. The LPVO definitely gets me tighter groups passed 200 yards because of the extra magnification, The GLX can and has gotten me to reach out passed 200 yards but its more difficult to get a bragging tight groups after 200 yards. The GLX 2X is a keeper in my inventory and is even more amazing when I paired it with an ADM mount. Since the last ZERO I gave it at 50 yards, its been on point every time I reattach it to my upper.

  • Excellent review. This is my favorite general purpose optic, by far. The Slx 1x is excellent as well, but this 2x gives an advantage on smaller targets at any reasonable distance, without giving away anything tangible at cqb distances. This is one of very few optics that I can hit A's at 10 yards, and go prone and smack 8" & 10" plates at 300 without flipping a magnifier, or cranking a mag ring. I can do it with a TA31, but it takes a lot more concentration. The eyebox is just so forgiving on the Glx 2x. I love ACOGs, but the TA44, TA45 & TA47 kinda suck in comparison.

  • Inspired by C_Does and his rimfire match, I threw this thing on a 10/22 and it is a hoot. I used the compact Ruger rimfire stock module (= short LOP) with the high comb. I low mounted the prism at the back of the 10/22 receiver’s Pic rail. These moves ensured a very comfortable mount and effortless eye relief. You’re struck by how clear and bright the GLX 2x prism is compared to typical budget red dots. It’s way fast on plate targets up close and pinpoint accurate (with the crisp illuminated chevron) at 50 yards, where I chose to zero it. Illumination on max is nice; it’s what I’d call “daylight useful”, just below daylight bright. It definitely makes the reticle easier to see, even in full sunlight. Just a pleasure to shoot.

  • I have one with the 7.62x39 reticle, it's excellent except for the battery cap as you mentioned. I think the illumination dial is a little too stiff too and it's a bit vague. Had it for about 2 years I think. It started on a PSA AK-103 and now lives on a Zastava M70. Really no issues with it and still has the original battery. I've thought off and on about getting a 5.56 model for an AR or the 9mm version for a PCC. 2x is pretty nice for sub 50 yards when shooting at something smaller than a full man sized target.

  • This concept of a low mag fixed prism is a lot older from a military standpoint than many may realize. The British SUSAT was a 1.5 or 1.75x? It had this big upside-down spike reticle, same deal with whatever that Steyr AUG optic is, but that has a donut reticle somewhat similar to this, that was the 70s and 80s though. Still, major militaries thought a low mag fixed was the way to go, and the glx 2x is way better than those.

    • Additional thought: Someone asks “why would I equip this rather than an LPVO?” Three possible reasons: (1) this is simple and fast; awesome eye relief; closer to a red dot (2) flat clean image (3) weighs less than an LPVO, though if you add on aftermarket mounts, spacers and stuff the difference narrows a bit. Now the LPVO will definitely be able to stretch out in some ways this optic can’t. But that’s your use case

    @mghegotagun@mghegotagun Жыл бұрын
    • The RT6 at 2x would be comparable, the 510c would have a massively larger eye box, because it isn't a scope, and the 510 also doesn't have parallax issues, and can be used with NV, if that's your thing, which is probably isn't since these are the optics you're asking about. The prism is something that retains zero when dropped, and weighs less than half than the RT6 when mounted, However, the RT6 is probably the best non China LPVO in its price range.

Even Japan, Taiwan and Korea all have billions (in terms of USD) of their production off-shored to China despite moderate to strong historical/ethnic grievances. In so far as America exists in it's self imposed post-industrial state China will necessarily be supported by American consumer money thanks to very poorly thought out short-sighted policy manuevers during the the cold war.

  • I know it's not apples to apples but, I can't bring myself to spend that much on a relatively simple optic when something like an Arken 4-16 or 6-24 can be produced and purchased for under $300 on sale. I would feel like I really got taken.

      @Clockwork0nions@Clockwork0nions Жыл бұрын
    • That's not a problem for most of the market. One reasonably is not going to put an Arken on 4-16 or 6-24 on all their firearms. This is lighter, more robust, better reticle for simple shooting, has a better warranty, clearer glass, better FOV, better illumination and eye box. It is an easy rationalization for anyone who needs it.

      @Ilost11@Ilost11 Жыл бұрын
    • @@Ilost11 I guess you missed my point completely. Of course there are different optics for different uses and needs. By the way Arken has a fully transferable lifetime warranty. I'd be willing to bet that Primary Arms could sell this prism scope at $250 and still have a higher profit margin than Arken does. That's about what I would be willing to pay for one. Otherwise I'll just stick with my Holoson red dot for that type of use.

      @rustynut1967@rustynut1967 Жыл бұрын
    • @@rustynut1967 I didn't miss your point. I just wanted to remind you that nobody cares what you think this is "worth". This product was clearly a success and an Arken 4-16 or 6-24 doesn't invalidate the existence or usefulness of this optic. People who know what good prisms cost not too long ago are happily buying this product. If you don't think it is worth it, that is your loss. It Is fascinating when people who have no familiarity with what it costs to manufacture, warranty, R&D, test, ship, distribute etc. place arbitrarily prices on products like "250".

    @fuckjewtube69@fuckjewtube69 Жыл бұрын
