  • The strength and agility of raccoons absolutely amazes me. Not only was she able to do all the crazy climbing to get up there but then she does it getting down with the added weight of the baby. Must have been exhausting but she didn’t stop until she had each and every baby. Remarkable. Also the way she doesn’t hesitate about the new babies, she’s just like, whelp guess I have double the babies now 🤷‍♀️. You’re a total rockstar mama ❤.

  • I really like the way you act towards these precious creatures! One absolutely innocent curiosity: I understand the need to find another mum for the little orphans but isn’t it a lot to burden the surrogate mum with other 4 babies? How can she deal with that crowd of creatures in need? I know nothing about raccoons so believe me my question is not at all polemic. Thank you for what you do, I really appreciate it. 👍🏻👏🏻

    • Im pretty sure since they are older they are less of a burden then if they were all younger (eyes closed, can’t walk, only drinking milk etc.) i cant tell exact age from the video but they are atleast able to move on their own, eyes open and most likely also eating solid foods (bugs, human food waste, dead or small live animals, berries, nuts, etc.) so hopefully it won’t be too much of a bother. Juvenile raccoons do stay with their family a bit longer than other species but thats even after they are entirely weened. Im not super sure on how this might impact the mom since I haven’t worked with raccoons personally before (not allowed to work with rabies vector species yet) so im hoping these folks can reply with a better answer than i can give.

  • Mama raccoons are a vibe on their own. I came home one night with my newborn nephew in the car crying. I got out and went to walk around to the backseat to get him out but, before could make it to his door, a huge raccoon dove onto the roof of the car, stood up on her back legs, screaming at me and straight up lunging at me if I got too close to the car. My pop heard me scream and ran outside. Fortunately, he knew exactly what was happening. He explained that it was a mama, who likely had babies in the garage, being protective of my nephew. My pop went through the house and turned on the light in the garage and distracted her long enough for me to grab the car seat and run in the house. I gained a whole new level of love & adoration for mama raccoons that night. And, pop was right, she had 4 little babies in the loft of the garage. I enjoyed watching them grow and start exploring on their own. I did this from afar, of course. ❤🦝

  • We had a family of Possums, a mother and 6 baby's under our house. I read that if you leave a bright light and a radio with a talk show on they would leave so I put the radio station on Rush Limbaugh, they were gone in no time!

  • I live in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in the US. Own a corner house a block away is a large park called Fairmount Park. I've lived here for twenty-eight years and have cats and dogs and I've always had cat kibble and raccoons come through. The mothers visit n bring their babies through. And one of the babies came back as a mother this spring and she dened in my house accessing it from my third-story roof. I had a bricked off stove vent and I could hear the babies on the first floor and I fed her and kept her close to my house. I didn't want her getting hit by a car, I didn't want anything to happen to the babies. I would have had to have demolition into the brick to get them out and the brick is expose which I did back in the 90s. After two months she left under the cover of night with her babies on Mother's Day weekend. I still leave eggs and kibble out for her I haven't met her babies. I don't know how many babies she had but I know that she was getting hungry and she was coming out three times a day. With this surrogate mother how is she going to feed nine babies are they going to be getting close enough to the age to start foraging with her because she's going to run the risk of exposing herself to getting hit or trapped because she's going to need to forage for extra food to feed all those mouths. That's why I fed a lot of food consistently out for Mama Madonna I didn't want anything to happen to her. I have pictures of her when she was a baby and visited my backyard. I hope they will make it I wish people would just let the mother's just stay for the two months that they need. I learned so much from your videos while I had the mother raccoon in my house and she was coming up and down a ladder and then getting her way up to the third floor. She trusted me enough to know that she would safely have food and shelter. So intuitive, instinctive and devoted and just tireless the way she went up to three stories and then went head-first all the way back down three stories a few times a day. • As smart as Raccoons are, I thought she would have kept a count. Amazing she accepts them so easily.
