  • TH3D Has recently updated their downloads page, and updated the web pages I am viewing in this video. All of the steps are the exact same, they have just updated some of the sections to include more info. So don't worry if you are following along, and the webpage I am on, doesn't look the same, the process is the same. support.th3dstudio.com/hc/downloads/unified-2-firmware/creality/creality-ender-3-v2-firmware-lcd-firmware-v4-2-x-board/

I have the same exact files you have on your video except the file that you pick my file does not have bin. at the end. But all the file names and numbers that follow are exactly the same. I did not copy and paste to my fat 32 formatted caed yet because I am not sure its right. Also I have the 4.2.2.7 board. Should I copy that same file without the bin. onto my sd card? Hope you can help thank you

  • One thing to note that kept me in constant failure for hours is , the SD CARD Needed to be formatted in in FAT32 with 4K clusters . I originally was using an old 128mb SD card formatted fat 32 but there is obviously no 4k cluster option . Basically no firmware would load on the LCD or board unless its formatted with the 4k option, and there is nothing to warn you it didn't load either.

    • @@509drone2 Thanks for your reply, I solved it, i didn't realise that the Allocation unit size when formatting the sd card has to be 4096 bytes and it was set to 8192 bytes. Now it all works fine with the new firmware. It's amazing how this printer's quality is MUCH better than the one I bought for $3500 7 years ago. It was a Makerbot 5th gen and it still works fine, i never had the problems many others had. But the quality with this $250 printer is so much better, less stringing, less waving, smoother surfaces. And a lot quieter!

  • But why would you want/need to do this? Why not Marlin firmware? Why TH3D? Is M$ visual studio required for us linux users?

    @WalterBoring@WalterBoring3 жыл бұрын
    • You could use the marlin firmware if you want. The TH3D firmware is just an edited version of marlin to allow very easy changes to the firmware. As you can see in the video, its laid out very well. Its all free, and can be used on any OS.

    @somatic.cinema@somatic.cinema3 жыл бұрын
    • From my understanding the orginal firmware had bugs that would cause issues. I never ran into any of these issues, but the other benefits of upgrading the firmware are things like the ability to add auto bed leveling, and just a better layout within your printer lcd screen. Things are better defined, and broken down. But really if you're not having any issues, and you don't plan to change/add anything then you really don't need to upgrade it.
