F1 driver is no rally driver, rally driver is no F1 driver, I can say many subjective opinions but facts are facts. 1) F1 drivers need to be more physically fit and need to act, adapt, and process much faster than rally drivers.

spiralnapkin You can't have staff sanctioned through out the entire course and you most certainly can't tow the wrecked cars out before the other rally drivers get there. Usually the spectators are there to warn the incoming drivers like you see in the video, but from the looks of what I've seen ( with the evo ) there was a crash and someone on the one of the public roads decided to block part of the road. Someone should have warned the drivers below the blind hill, but shit happens.

This is why I consider rally drivers some of the best drivers or if not the best drivers the drivers who possess the biggest balls in the world. They don't constantly practice on a circuit all day logging lap times checking computer data for the best set up specifically for that track. Most teams may do 1 reconnaissance run for the stage and thats it in rally. So technically the driver really doesn't know the course too well unless he's been racing for years and even then there could've been changes made to the stage so it may be different from the years before. They have to depend on a navigator and trust them while making sure they and their navigator run the fastest time and dont die in the process, and as you just seen they have to deal with a lot of random shit that could happen in the blink of an eye so their response has to be that much better. People who race on tracks really dont have that to worry about all the random shit rally drivers do. Also rally drivers dont have all the protection gimmicks track drivers do. One wrong jump into a tree and everybody is dead. No barriers or whatever that stuff is they have on the tracks to slow your car down in case of an accident. On top of that their cars are a hell of a lot more likely to flip or crash due to jumps, cliffs, trees, steep angles and shit so they have to be able to always be compensating for different conditions constantly unlike a track where everything is smooth and knowable and they have to be able to control and recover a car should a jump not go as planned or a corner not go as smoothly. Now factor in this as well...Night time. The tracks are lit up to a certain degree Where rally car drivers are its normally pitch black save their headlights. Not even an F1 driver would want to hop in a rally car with so many unknown variables and limited visibility of sight where practically anything can happen. Only ppl with more balls than a rally driver are Isle of TT drivers. Those guys are insane but two wheels is another story.

Rally drivers are the best. They're insane. Don't forget how they drive in all conditions, snow, dirt, ball bearing sized gravel, tarmac, wet, dry etc (and like you said, the lighting which varies). There are so many variables they have to take into account.

Rally drivers are the best, that's true but you're wrong at one point - professional rally drivers know their tracks perfectly, they have onboard videos from recce or previous years and they study those onboards all the time before the actual race. They didn't have these gadgets 20-30 years ago but it's pretty standard nowadays even during smaller rallies. If you dont know the track perfectly, you can't win.

F1 driver is no rally driver, rally driver is no F1 driver, I can say many subjective opinions but facts are facts. 1) F1 drivers need to be more physically fit and need to act, adapt, and process much faster than rally drivers.

I feel like maybe someone didn't do their job when there are random parked cars in the middle of the road of a rally track.
spiralnapkin You can't have staff sanctioned through out the entire course and you most certainly can't tow the wrecked cars out before the other rally drivers get there. Usually the spectators are there to warn the incoming drivers like you see in the video, but from the looks of what I've seen ( with the evo ) there was a crash and someone on the one of the public roads decided to block part of the road. Someone should have warned the drivers below the blind hill, but shit happens.

This is why I consider rally drivers some of the best drivers or if not the best drivers the drivers who possess the biggest balls in the world. They don't constantly practice on a circuit all day logging lap times checking computer data for the best set up specifically for that track. Most teams may do 1 reconnaissance run for the stage and thats it in rally. So technically the driver really doesn't know the course too well unless he's been racing for years and even then there could've been changes made to the stage so it may be different from the years before. They have to depend on a navigator and trust them while making sure they and their navigator run the fastest time and dont die in the process, and as you just seen they have to deal with a lot of random shit that could happen in the blink of an eye so their response has to be that much better. People who race on tracks really dont have that to worry about all the random shit rally drivers do. Also rally drivers dont have all the protection gimmicks track drivers do. One wrong jump into a tree and everybody is dead. No barriers or whatever that stuff is they have on the tracks to slow your car down in case of an accident. On top of that their cars are a hell of a lot more likely to flip or crash due to jumps, cliffs, trees, steep angles and shit so they have to be able to always be compensating for different conditions constantly unlike a track where everything is smooth and knowable and they have to be able to control and recover a car should a jump not go as planned or a corner not go as smoothly. Now factor in this as well...Night time. The tracks are lit up to a certain degree Where rally car drivers are its normally pitch black save their headlights. Not even an F1 driver would want to hop in a rally car with so many unknown variables and limited visibility of sight where practically anything can happen. Only ppl with more balls than a rally driver are Isle of TT drivers. Those guys are insane but two wheels is another story.

Rally drivers are the best. They're insane. Don't forget how they drive in all conditions, snow, dirt, ball bearing sized gravel, tarmac, wet, dry etc (and like you said, the lighting which varies). There are so many variables they have to take into account.
Rally drivers are the best, that's true but you're wrong at one point - professional rally drivers know their tracks perfectly, they have onboard videos from recce or previous years and they study those onboards all the time before the actual race. They didn't have these gadgets 20-30 years ago but it's pretty standard nowadays even during smaller rallies. If you dont know the track perfectly, you can't win.
