Florentino Pérez, as a civil engineer and CEO of a construction company, has thought the stadium from the smallest to the biggest piece. The idea of the retractable pitch was from him. Every big club tend to make a bigger stadium on the outskirts of their cities, increasing only in a few thousand seats capacity, but Florentino Pérez realized that Bernabéu is in the middle of the second biggest city of the European Union, just inside the financial district, and there is the value of the stadium. Their location.
The idea of a retractable pitch was invented by Vitesse Arnhem. Perez is a well travelled millionaire who has worked in football for decades. You think he hasn't seen the retractable pitch elsewhere?
@@gavriloking5637 The Gelredome pitch is taking out of the stadium. In the hypogeum system the pitch is saved underneath in pieces, so it's different and new. It is more difficult and it works. Florentino is a genius.

Don't speak for this boomer - I'm 68 & grew up about 5 blocks from the Bernabeu, became a member at 12, and absolutely love the new all-purpose stadium. Not to mention Florentino who's 77 years young and came up with the concept & chose this particular design. At the end of the day, it's a matter of taste, and you can't please everyone no matter what you choose. What you can be sure of is that Madridistas will love the fact that's a huge ATM for for the club - in that, we can all agree.
I love the classic aesthetics but if you're running a commercial business than you gotta go with the trends, and to be honest if we judge the new looks on modern standards than it looks outstanding. And of course the real deal is inside the stadium 🏟️

And this is why AC Milan really needs their own stadium as soon as possible. San Siro is iconic but it doesn’t regenerate money for the both teams to invest and keep up with other European giants.
Outside of the financial realities I don’t understand why both Inter & AC Milan, both European royalty steeped in history haven’t got one of their own. They should’ve done it during the hay day of Italian football late 80’s, 90’s into the mid 00’s. I fear it’s too late now for either of them to get an 80k seater for themselves.
@@teza1383 the city of Milan won’t allow neither of the teams to build a new stadium around the city because many residents go against it unfortunately… most Italians don’t understand that San Siro will rott (crumble to pieces) because the city won’t allow it to be demolished and build on top. Milan and inter have to build outside of Milan or stay at San Siro until it’s just not possible anymore..
You need to watch the video a second time then, Real Madrid didn't tear it down let alone build it elsewhere as the current AC Milan owners want to do. Florentino saw the value of renovating it because of its location and history

Errrrr, Spurs allready have a stadium that generates money every day of the week from events, concerts, football, rugby (union & league), boxing, NFL and Kart racing. They do this because thay have built a retractable pitch. They are just about to commence a new hotel complex. RM have literally copied every facet of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, this doesn'r make them one step ahead.

@@mbcannon Speaking without facts makes you look a fool. Levy started the Northumberland Development Project (the name given to Tottenhams new stadium plans) back in 2008!!!! The final plans getting approval in Oct 2013 (land acquisition for the new development had been going on pre-stadium plans back as far as 2007!!) It was until 2011 General Assembly meeting did the club announce it was to invite architects to come up with a design that would meet their requirements for Bernabéu’s redevelopment. The winning bid from architects L35, GMB and Ribas&Ribas was announced in 2014!!! Embarrassing lack of basic knowledge.

I'm a Real Madrid fan since my childhood. I've been in the stadium before, and I really loved the atmosphere there. The updated version of the Bernabeu is just amazing; it will surely enhance the quality of the experience inside. That said, there's just a little issue with the business model of the stadium. I guess it's sad to talk just about the money that Real Madrid will make from it. It's a little bit sad to consider the stadium as a money machine because it's more than that. It's the temple of euphoria, happiness, and sadness. It's a legacy to preserve for supporters around the world, not for a lucrative business model. And yes, nowadays it's all about money, but we are Real Madrid, and we have to be exceptional.

They sold their training ground for something like $450 mln to some semi-gov company (worth most of their debt) . And they got the ground near Barajas for 1 peseta . Real Madrid does not need its new stadium to be on the top, they have been on the top of the financial and sports success for the past seventy years or more.
I'm a little torn on the look of the stadium. It looks cool but slightly weird against the wider city. I prefer the more classic design of something like the San Siro, but times do change. One thing for sure is that the functionality of the stadium is incredible and Real seem to be growing stronger and stronger again.

According to many architects, this stadium has become a danger for the near future since its structure is more than 70 years old and currently it has to support additional weight with elements that cover its entire perimeter plus the roof. It must be added that now This stadium is also going to be used for music concerts in addition to football, it's crazy....!!!!

I think the design itself is very nice, but it doesn't fit well in Madrid. As was said in the video, the stadium looks like a massive futuristic spaceship in the middle of Madrid and that doesn't fit the surrounding classical architecture that makes up the rest of the city.
