How to Find and Fix Engine Noises That are Hard To Pinpoint
In this video I'll go over how you can find engine noises that increase and decrease with the rpm of the engine as well as engine noises that have their own frequency. Whether you have a bad serpentine belt roller bearing, tensioner bearing, power steering pump, timing belt roller bearing, alternator, ac compressor pump bearing and clutch, air injection pump, clogged pcv, clogged catalytic converter, I will show you can you can fix them.

The best way to make noises stop is to take it to someone so they can hear it. Every time I do that, the noises stop and the guy thinks im crazy!😂
good one :)
😂😂😂😂 so accurate though
😂😂😂
Always informative, well explained and edited for ease of viewing.
Hey hey hey
Do it yourselfers :)
You can register it in some states. Washington no longer has smog testing.
Today's video is a great example of why I'm subbed, and have been subbed a long time. You have in-depth information to help us Diy'ers. I appreciate your teaching , tricks to locate & fix engine noises. Thank you again.
I often use a broom stick and cup my ear to it and move it around inside the engine bay. I've done this many a time and people tend to look at me rather weird but hey, it works the majority of times like no other! Hell, everybody has a broom stick!
haha whatever works
It 107% works. Especially a nice hard wood. I can hear each one of my injectors tick. Moving across the valve cover you can isolate which cylinder is making valve noise, etc. Just as one would with a stethoscope.
You bet pal! I've used that trick ever since about 1973!@@joshuagibson2520
Do you have relatives in N.E. Penna??@@joshuagibson2520
Really appreciate your videos. You are a great teacher.
Always appreciate your Videos... ALWAYS!
Awesome man! Thank you. Happy Holidays!
Another Great video from a great mechanic , thanks again!
Well done some great tips in the video. Nice one
Thank you for the insights
This is an excellent video. Thanks for posting it.
Been watching your videos for years man, I always wondered if you are Persian. Cheers!
Great video
Sounds like a business opportunity for someone to rebuild those air pumps
I have a very difficult time getting mechanics to take the time to diagnose noises. I hate noises, it is the vehicle telling you something is wrong.
Pop pop pop 🍿😆💕👍 Great Video. Still don't know your name 🤔
My name is Eman :)

I have a puff sound when I shut off the engine of my 2011 Chevy Silverado. It sounds like it coming from the filter box but checked the hose connections to no avail.
Hi can I install external alternator regulator kit on my 2011 town and country? because my alternator stopped charging still even after installing new alternator and battery.
LoL I dunno about pulling the alternator fuse, 150 amp bus fuse? ZAP! LoL
don't touch that one, the fuse for the dc voltage supplies to the alternators voltage regulator.
@myRatchets lol yeah but I don't think you mentioned the fuse for the regulator. Instantly I imagined a paste eater taking out the main bus. ZAP a spritz of burnt hair smoke and he says "vtec just kicked in yo" as he fall flat backwards. DIY at its finest
Wait.. what? So pulling alternator fuses can kill you if you pull the wrong one and there was no disclaimer? ⚡️😭
@auginater4200 lol I dunno if it'd kill or not but can certainly arc. Typically don't manuals state to disconnect the battery before doing any work on electrical? I'd say normal spade fuses have never given me a problem. I'm talking more so the 100 to 150 amp fuse for the alternator which on some cars is like a bus bar fuse. Fuses like this kzhead.info/sun/bJugfc-uol-geoE/bejne.htmlfeature=shared
I was told I need to replace my blinker fluid pump on my 2019 VW because it squeals like a pig. Do you know if it’s hard to do. The mechanic wanted $1475 plus labor. I thought that was high so I didn’t have him do it.
Na that's cheap...we charge 2200 for that repair
@@da9ej1eg99 oh great and I thought he was trying to rip me off
thats what you get for driving a VW :)
When you doing any C5 RS6 content?
I got a California ecu but I don’t have the smog pump is that normal I have 2 different ecus to choose from that are not California ecus
Is there anyway to quiet the AC compressor or do I have to buy a new one. It has that whining soundike the bearing is starting to go
Buy a new one
👍
In Indiana there is no smog emission requirement for registration, many states are like that, so just sell your car to one of those states :>
What if I dont want to sell my car :)
@@myRatchets Lived in CA for 20 years. Gotta find a few people with the same model, and pay them a small fee to 'borrow' their air pump for a couple days to get smogged.... Maybe offer them some free repair hours in the future?
I also like to play doctor!
I have a 2GR-FE, it's nothing BUT NOISE!!! 😀
Car care nut just made a vid on that motor lmao
Mine purrs like a kitten. Wtf did you do?
@@isorozco511he just did, yesterday...
@@nickoloes bought it.
That sound ... is your wallet being sucked dry. Always.
I have a 1992 LS400 the alternator has a fusible link. It has to be unbolted it can’t just be unplugged.
don't touch that one, the fuse for the dc voltage supplies to the alternators voltage regulator.
i had a whining noise that sound like a bearing noise from the alternator, it turn out i had a bad rectifier, one of the diodes was blown
The fuse trick would have helped with that.
What’s emissions
👍
