South America. What Does It Conceal?

And now, five centuries later, this continent never fails to amaze.
Today you're going to learn:
Where is the place that hasn't seen a single rainfall for 400 years?
What does a canyon look like that's even deeper than the Grand Canyon?
How could a sense of frustration have caused the demise of an entire civilization?
What ancient city lies at the bottom of Lake Titicaca?
And much more!
South America.

  • Christopher Columbus didn't discover any lands.

  • Beautiful images and amazing facts. It's great to see Latin America showcased in such detail. What an incredible continent, filled with vibrant cultures and important past civilizations of riveting histories. One small correction--At 23:10, the Andean Condor, like the California Condor, is a scavenging bird, a Cathartiforme, not an eagle.

    • @ericbenevides4250 Yeah but your metaphor, in Christopher Columbus’ case would be a human discovering humans already discovered fire and being praised for it. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  • Saying that the Portuguese language spoken in Brazil is a dialect of the Portuguese language spoken in Portugal is the same as saying that the English spoken in the USA is a dialect of the English spoken in the United Kingdom. Here in Brazil we speak the Portuguese language with small variations in pronunciation compared to Portuguese in Portugal. I'm Brazilian and I travel to Portugal frequently and the same language I use when talking to Portuguese people is the same language I use in Brazil.

    • Actually, parts of North America (USA) belonged to México! If México is in North America then so Guatemala, etc.😅 Decades ago, we were taught that Panama was the division between North and Central America/South America. These divisions changes seem to suit North America so that it may be perceived to be much larger!

  • Maybe you shouldn't comment on ethnicities considering you seem to have forgotten the millions of black slaves imported to South America with descendants, or the fact that many native peoples were enslaved and distributed around the entirety of South America. There has been a big mix of ethnicities that is mostly irrespective of national language.

  • Uruguay has a substantial German population. They own moost of the agricultural land in the inner territory away from the coast. You can retire there as an EXpat. They will allow you to bring everything you own in the country' one time without any duty fees,.including your guns. I was going to retire there but ended up going to the Philippines. What a big mistake that was The PI will kill you. I was lucky to get out of there on my last leg right after the year long quarantine in April 2021.
