  • As a chicken owner I would just like to clarify that almost all eggs that you can buy at a supermarket are not fertile meaning that it can’t be hatched because they weren't made with a hen AND a rooster. (your not eating baby chickens if you buy the eggs from a store unless the company is sneaking fertile eggs in) Thanks for the vid!

    @chonksiemc7461@chonksiemc7461Ай бұрын
    • which is why this video is a bit misleading. For all his memes at the start he is using standard chicken eggs (a domesticated animal that was used for the egg production for a long long time). And then suddenly he will swap to the Quails eggs, that came to the market way more recently . So that animal is not yet properly domesticated well to steadily produce eggs (so most likely they have to use male animals to start the egg production cycle).

  • Hell Jay, Im a tractor supply company team leader and I wanted to give you a little advice on potential fore comings as this is the time of year when our company sells baby chicks. You are going to inevitably have some chicks die along the way however they are things you can prevent as they happen, one big one being compaction or pasting up of the cloaca. This happens when the excrement of the baby birds builds up around the outside of cloaca mixing with dirt and other debris and prevents further excrement from being able to exit their bodies. If you notice that a chick is pasting up underneath its tail feathers, you should gently hold the chick on under warm running water, not hot. As the water begins to soften it you can gently use a finger to rub in a circular motion in aid of removing the excess debris and stimulating the area around the cloaca enough to remove anything that is fully hardened in the opening. If done correctly the chick should soon after pass a large excrement.

Hatching chick's with 10k in fancy gear to turn his eggs so he doesn't have to and a motion sensing camera waking him up all night is probably easy, but for people who don't have sponsors paying for him. Getting awoke every 2 hours by a camera is gonna turn out to he alot work.

  • Great video and loved how excited you were through the whole process. Just a couple of points, you can do this with most (organic) eggs including Quail, Chicken and Duck because they often have roosters as guards against foxes. The fertilised eggs are perfectly safe to eat and leaving them in your cupboard will not make them hatch as they temp and humidity needs to be just right. They say to refrigerate them as they will have been washed which removes the protective bloom and they will go off quicker if left in a warm room. Also you are meant to turn off the automatic turners 3 days before they hatch so for Quail day 15, Chickens day 18 and Ducks day 25... just for next time ;)

  • This was an amazing watch. Also brings to light the differences in grocery practice between where you are and Canada (where I am). In Canada, all eggs in grocery stores are not only initially kept refrigerated in the shops, but they're also candled and pasteurized in the packaging process. It is exceedingly rare for an egg to develop after all that, and when one does manage it unfortunately it's even more rare for them to live for very long or be discovered before perishing inside the egg. Because of the pasteurizing process the eggs go bad faster outside of refrigeration, so most people just automatically put the pack in the fridge. Very cool, I hope you don't run into any legal trouble for this experiment!

    • Somehow, I have a strong hunch that MY "egg eating" days are over! As my Darling Husband was told 16 years ago that he was allergic to eggs, so he no longer ingests them. *(FINALLY* he found out _EXACTLY_ *WHY* he was coughing so much - testing revealed a *HUGE* list of allergies! *He was, AT THAT TIME, **_SIXTY-FOUR YEARS OLD!)_** I can always eat OTHER THINGS!, TOO!*

  • I loved the energy you gave off in this video! So fun to watch. So just to ease your conscious a little, bird eggs are laid in a "dormant" state. what that means is that the embryo does not begin to develop until the incubation heat is applied. So when you eat eggs for breakfast, you are eating something that has the potential to become a chick, but it is not yet a chick until incubation begins.

  • There is something oddly spiritual about being apart of the egg hatching process. Proud of ya for involving yourself into the world of bird eggs, not many dudes on youtube would do such a thing. Your excitement made it all the more worth it to watch through. Happy to know the chicks are gonna be thrivivng someplace other than the room you set up for them. Their bird dander is not something you really want to be living with in close quarters. Bless ya dear. Newly subscribed.

  • Someone may have already said this, but make sure when you incubate your eggs you put the small pointy end down in your trays. The air bubble needs to be at the top. Also make sure you turn your Turner off 2 to 3 days before hatch time and take your eggs out of the trays . place the eggs on their side for them to hatch.

    • @@BeforeThisNovember quality of the eggs is not guaranteed. If the eggs were marketed by the supplier as not being fertilized, then it looks bad on the supplier and the store may void the contract on those grounds. Obviously doesn't look good on the supplier if this is the case, however kind of sad if the supplier gives good quality of life to the quails while also struggling to make a profit. If you imagine yourself in the supplier's shoes, you can see why it might be hard to choose between giving the quails a good life, forming bonds and mating or making sure the product is exactly as advertised and industrializing the farm to turn more of a profit. But maybe they are turning a good profit and keeping the quality of life for the quails high? maybe that's why the eggs were fertilized in the first place while being marketed as not? Who knows.
