Can A Non-Car Guy Remove An Engine In 24 Hours?

2024 ж. 16 Қаң.

This week, Ethan is tasked by Jack and Edwin to remove an engine in 24 hours. He'll have to pull the legendary JDM 2JZ motor out of our Lexus GS300 completely alone with no help. He'll have to find creative DIY ways to pull the engine out of the car as quickly as possible, albeit with some challenges along the way. If he succeeds we'll buy him some mods for his new project car, the Honda SMX.
Want to find out about some other weird/mundane cars using the 2JZ? Head over here now:

  • I cant stress this enough. I really appreciate that Jack & Edwin didn't just bust Ethan's balls the whole time and make life more difficult for him unlike what Alex did when Ethan was working on his Z3, and it often came across as mean spirited. You had a few laughs at his misfortune when things went wrong, but ultimately, you went out of your way to keep him on the right track and encouraged Ethan when he was doing something right.

    • There's a recent video on autoalex where he mocks Rory (I think that's his name, his cameraman) for being a bit overweight and having put a few pounds on recently. He takes it too far and comes across as a bit of a dick. I reckon he's an alright guy just things like that don't rub off too well. I've kinda lost interest in his channel. These three are just so much more wholesome and the chemistry is so great.

  • The pros saying 3 hours to do what Ethan struggled to do in 24 is EXACTLY why no one should complain about shop rates. You’re paying for the knowledge and experience. Sure, you can do it in your driveway, but it’s gonna take you 10x as long as it takes me in the shop and I have access to torque specs and OEM procedures.

    @georgallasj@georgallasj3 ай бұрын

      @georgallasj@georgallasj3 ай бұрын
    • @@20thcenturygamer22 That doesn't mean that any price is acceptable. 200$ in labor for a brake job on a Miata in 30 minutes is a scam. Your experience (literally doing your job) is not worth every customer paying you 100s an hour. Especially when you pocket less than half that. (edit: Companies not publishing) Torque specs and OEM procedures violate the right to repair and can be found for most cars if you look hard enough.

Things like dropping the tools in the drain bucket or getting your hands caught by the spanners and then the all familiar sounds aarh withholding all the swearing. We all have been there I think.
