I never like comments but this was too based to ignore
Logical gg why not
Agree, but i would slightly prefer 1 or 2 because gukesh is so young and will likely become wc at some point anyway.
The thing with Hikaru is simply that he is a personality, and a truly interesting player. I think that chess could be such a fantastically interesting thing if more players had a channel/platform which they could stand on. Hans, Hikaru, Magnus, Levi, etc. Not that chess alone isn't already fantastic, of course...

About the betterhelp sponsorship: I'm not trying to get on your ass, Levy, but a competitive pokémon youtuber that I follow called Freezai recently got into some hot waters for taking a betterhelp sponsorship. I didn't even know about this drama until I saw a comunity post with an apology on his channel. I fully believe you were not aware of this when taking this sponsor and that you also have some contractual obligations you have to abide by. I wish you well no matter what stance you take on this. It's because BetterHelp scams people by claiming to have licenced therapists when they don't. It is also significantly more expensive than normal therapy. It's a complete scam, just like Established Titles

27:46 I think Pragg is mathematically eliminated no? He has 6 points and can reach a maximum of 8 points, while Gukesh, Hikaru and Nepo have 7.5 points. Hikaru will play against both Gukesh and Nepo, and a decisive game between Hikaru and Gukesh/Nepo means one of those 3 players would reach 8.5 points. The other alternative is Hikaru drawing both games, and in that scenerio Hikaru would reach 8.5 points anyway. Hikaru playing against both of the other co-leaders means Pragg is mathematically eliminated.
Hikeru's next 3 match with...!!??
Yep he is. I didn't think about it until u pointed out but one of Hikaru Nepo and Gukesh is guaranteed to get 8.5 .
Yes that's the correct. Levy can't do basic math. I expected more from an IM. LOL

What a guy
The candidates are just taking turns on Nijat Abasov at this point. Why won't the arbiter get this man a cup of hot chocolate and a warm blanket?
I mean, it’s depressing but I expected it. Wish the best for Abasov
I predicted before the tournament that the candidates winner will win both of their games against Abasov. I just sort of assumed that multiple people would accomplish that.
Crazy to think that ian drew both games and is still joined first place.
You’re an idiot. Your opinion is demonstrably false for any round robin tournament (hence the design), and seems to just pick on one player out of some need to assert understanding of chess or insight?
Meh, he qualified. Carlsen chose not to take the spot. It's good practice for him and some nice money. Kind of like with Alekseenko who isn't a terrible player, just happened to benefit from the Grand Swiss.
Nijat hadn't lost with white pieces in this tournament until he faced Gukesh
Gukesh, Hikaru, Ian and Fabi all are in top spot now. Support for all of them! They all deserve to win for different reasons.... may the best player win! What a treat for chess fans!!
Fabi is not in top spot
Guy above me is correct. Gukesh, Hikaru, and Ian are tied for first place at 7.5/11. Fabiano is behind them at 7/11. This might not seem like much but it means Fabiano MUST win his games. If he draws, he cannot win the tournament because he is already behind.
@@07Lightless the winner will probably have 9 points, so Fabi definitely needs to win both of his games get 1st place.
@@07LightlessYou are right because no matter what One of the three will get 8.5 anyhow. While Fabi is mathematically still there, he is likely not going to win. Other players are not going to clear the way for him. Right now, IMO Gukesh has the highest chances among the three, since he is against Ali who is not focused these days, especially the day after he defeated Gukesh. If Gukesh can convert that into a win he will likely win the tournament. Since Nepo is against Fabi and Hikaru while Hikaru is against Nepo and Gukesh.
@@HarshRaj-px9se i am rooting for Gukesh. He has really surprised me this tournament. I did not expect to see such strong performances from him. Levy was right about this last game, he literally felt like Magnus Carlsen exploiting a significantly weaker player and winning with ease.

Respectfully, what the absolute fuck was Alireza thinking with that pawn to G5 move?! I’m in the 900-1000 range online and my jaw dropped IMMEDIATELY. I assumed there was something complex I was missing. Just absolutely shocking blunder.
My only guess is that Alireza knows it’s over, like his tournament run, he needs a win, draw or loss doesn’t do anything so I think he went G5 as a hail merry plan just in case Hikaru chokes the game away.

Really glad you're showing all the games and not skipping relatively uneventful draws (though there hasn't been that many of those really). So glad both the open and women's is being held at the same time. And both are putting on a great show! Is it possible that both could end in ties for first? How would they decide? Is there a fast format playoff procedure, or is it determined by some formula or who beat who earlier, etc?

Chess is a brutal game, one could lose a completely winning game because of a single move and what makes its impossibly difficult here is the format of Candidates. These players have been constantly playing chess matches for 6 hours straight every day and are still sitting at their peak somehow!
