      @bohemondiofantioch539@bohemondiofantioch5396 жыл бұрын
    • +GodKingVivec Well yeah, I imagine that's how much it cost the U.S military to build them, the guys who already done all the R&D and have the facilities to build one while not needing to cut through all the legal red tape required for civilians to build their own tanks... but that's not really the point. My point is that these fights are always going to have to be at least a little dumb and impractical because giant robots are an inherently inferior design to tanks. You can't just have a competition to see who can build the best 50 or 60 tonne killing machine, because we already know what they look like, we have 100 years of engineering and military tradition, as well as real world combat with human lives on the line (something these events can never simulate) telling us what those look like, and they don't look like giant fighting robots. I thought this fight was awesome, and I am optimistic to see what these guys come out with next, but this isn't battle bots, it never will be, and we shouldn't try to change that. There is no point in trying to make this into a game that all the major military powers in the world have been playing better than us for a goddamned century. Imho this sport would be best to distance itself from battle bots and really try to be its own thing.

  • This was a cool experience but the outcomes were pretty obvious. First match: both robots independently built around the same weight class for their creators pleasure. Let’s call it medium weight class. America went for a ranged turret bot and Japan for a melee lancer bot. Melee won when it got the charge in especially since these are concept bots and the American bot was not actually created to use live ammunition. Makes sense. Second match: America custom built a bot specifically for defeating Japan’s bot that was double its weight class. That’s like a assault mech vs a medium mech in Battletech terms. Really it was obvious Japan was fighting at a huge disadvantage in that and makes sense for America to win. Also chain saw and cannons in a supposedly melee duel lol.

For example, one of the robots fall over after being pushed. This might have been fun experiencing inside of the robot since you are still falling to a degree but from the outside, to me it looks just as exciting as a trashcan being blown over by the wind.
