    • Loved that! And his last bit in the show about silliness. I'm a 67 year old grandma who is actually very silly with the grandkids. The parents look down on it. But it's necessary in life. You need to keep your joy and Joe you are a blessing for reminding us.

You bring me joy in my sad days. Watching you is like taking an antidepressant that works immediately. Without you my mental health would be much worse than it is. Thank you very much Joe Lycett, and please carry on! :)

With the world being messed up as it currently is, and with me being sucked into the whole 'Ricky-Gervais-are-some-jokes-too-offensive' thingy, I kind of lost the joy of stand-up. • Just to add to your knowledge - they do get about... :-) WW2 Spitfire pilot Robert Cowell became Roberta Cowell post war. She raced cars pre and post war. ATA pilot Irene Joy Ferguson WW2 became Jonathon Ferguson post war - and the only real change in her life was a pay rise, as men were paid more than women in the civil service. The most beautifully written book about changing is written by Jan Morris. CONUNDRUM. Also wrote as James Morris. Exquisite travel writer. I have acres of research on WW2. So much on gays in service. Jimmy Edwards DFC with the huge moustache was gay. Secretly. He grew the moustache to cover scars when he crash landed his fighter. But he was a hunting Tory. THAT is his awful truth. Ian Gleed DFC. Led a fighter sqn. Adored by his men. Wrote his autobiography and publisher said "It's a bit obvious... " So they invented a fiance. Pamela, I think it was... Ian's family said WHO THE HELL IS PAMELA? When he was killed, publisher got a pile of letters to send to Pamela, wanting to comfort her on her loss SO. many gays in the services! Hope this helps with thinking about how you think of of trans people. One of the most famous plastic surgeons who worked on burns and injuries in Air Force, WW2, Harold Gillies completed Robert Cowell's transition. Couldn't remove testes. At the time, illegal - but once that was done, he could complete work.

    • @@georgielancaster1356 these are great stories, but they still are wonderful EXCEPTIONs. we dont' need to re-order society for the 1%. and just to give some balance, the despicable Dr Money, upon whose work much of this psuedoscience is based, was a quack. Lycett is being a fool to embrace trans like they are the same as him, because the transpeople will turn on the "straight gays" at some point. Laugh now, don't make me come back in 3 years and comment again, when Joe is being labelled a bigot for not wanting to date a transwoman with a penis. Joe protecting Muslims is also so very, very weird. His whole "story" about being fake person on the right is hilarious, because ... well I won't openly say what his glaring errors were, but the first is to assume all right wingers love Katie Hopkins. Granted this is just a fun story where the audience gets to laugh at people.... and promote a religion that hates gay people, whilst denigrating a local political party for doing the same, despite any modern evidence of that. and this is why 🤡 clownworld became a thing.

    • What a lovely sentiment! That joke always cracks me up! Just to let you know most trans people don’t use transsexual as a word to describe them, it’s more preferred to use the word “transgender” as “transsexual” is outdated and could be seen as a derogatory term in the past (also “tranny” was/is also used as a slur these days and in the past :/ ) Thank you for being open to learning about us, you give me hope for the future 🥰
