@@rainsong7327 Just seen this comment. The main difference will be the drag system,strength of gears and IPX rating.
I got the dx battle and it's amazing.
I hope they also changed the main spool shaft metal to stainless steel. I have issue with the penn slammer 3 as the threads slowly stripping away over time as you adjusting your drag knob fighting the fish. I have mine replace withing 6 months of used and the new shaft i ordered is also slowly erode away(the thread getting thinner). The "titatium coat" dosent seem to last as they advertised. I think the metal inside the knob has more hardness than the main spool shaft metal.

Man slammer 3 is the best reel ever made by Penn. I just hate the auto bail close shit thing. I lost a lot of lures on that. Lucky, I manage to make it into Manuel.
Hi there i understand that the dx version has stainless steel gearing not brass but i wonder if its tempered stainless steel?
So your new one is a 7500? Why did you go for the bigger reel this go round?
Stainless gears sounds good but I've heard that brass will be smoother
Brass is a softer metal so it will be a smoother reel. Stainless will last longer
@@Jessewrightfishing maybe not stainless main gear wearing on stainless pinion gear will wear just as quick and be noisier to hard metals against each other

@@minicopilot1 I'm not 100% sure but I believe it does. Both drags on each reel is the same. Duradrag on everything 3500 and up
@@minicopilot1 It's a little big for what I've been doing. Even with throwing large swimbaits and jigs for Snook/Tarpon. The 8500 might be a tad larger or it might just have a larger rotpr and spool. I should have looked more at the size comparisons when I was at ICAST. I'm gonna keep fishing this 7500 until I can get my hands on a 5500. That seems to be the size I prefer for our fish.
Love penn but just dont like the idea of DX like the battle 3 the DX was a 5$ difference they should just get rid of the standard option and have the DX as the standard if you know what i mean

Icast this icast that. I'll never have to buy a Chinese made piece of crap reel again. I bought a vintage Penn 704 greenie on eBay unused, 160 bucks. Will last literally forever. These Chinese garbage reels will be in a landfill in about 5 years.
