If something is so heavy you have to arch your back to move it, consider a different approach. Back injuries are no joke!

      @PhatOof@PhatOof20 күн бұрын
    • @@PhatOofYeah, they did have a look at cheap gaming chairs, instead of only focusing on high end ones, but I think that's because the vast majority of ppl do buy cheap gaming chairs. However, that doesn't mean Razer and Secretlab don't use the same OEMs to source parts for their chairs, especially since both have factories in China. The quality of the parts are decent, but it's a moot point, because we know that they don't hold up as well when compared to most mid tier to high end office chairs.

  • step one - throw away the garbage plastic casters and replace them with those roller skate ones. I dunno why this isn't more popular it makes every chair so much better! No more stupid floor mats and it feels so smooth! I wonder if there is a roundup of the best brand I always kinda buy them randomly and they always work out. The ones I have now are more roller skate size but in the past I had much larger ones and I think I liked those better but its hard to say without comparing side by side.

  • I just bought a Herman miller x Logitech Embody on FB marketplace for $600. Destroys any of these “gamer” chairs and built like an absolute tank. I’d recommend that over these gamer chairs.

    @SquarePenix.@SquarePenix.20 күн бұрын
    • That's a pretty good deal but this chair actually has more adjustability than the embody. Every chair has different benefits and matches to a specific distribution of body types. The chair is only one part of the picture though as I mentioned :)

      @1HP@1HP5 күн бұрын
    • @@1HPyou’re correct about the adjustability. If that’s what you value then I can see why this would be appealing; but why not go for an established brand with lots of adjustability such as the Steelcase Leap v2/Gesture or something similar? I just have a bad impression about any major gamer brand when they make chairs. These type of racer type of seats were designed to be in sports cars to hold you in place when taking the corner at high speeds (hence the bolstering) so I’m not sure how this translates into a desk chair. I can see that you specialize in ergonomics so I won’t try to debate you. I am a plastic surgery resident so I somewhat know about posture and such but mainly deal with soft tissues; just my two cents :)

Racing seats, which gaming chairs are modeled after, weren't designed for ergonomics or longterm comfort, they're designed to lock you in place so you don't get knocked around while taking corners and bumps at speed. A pair of stiff armrests, a couch pillow and a bit of lumbar support can only go so far to improve the ergonomics.

    @daleykun@daleykun20 күн бұрын
    • To defend the doctor here. He told him to lower his chair so he can give an example of how the angles of the legs are supposed to be and feet fully planted on the ground. When he tells him to raise the chair back up. He's giving him use cases of why foot rests are important in the event desks are too high compared to the user. You can see the foot rest soon after he says this to make up for the lack of height. He's still sitting in the ideal position this way even after raising the height to match the desk.

      @GardeninT00l@GardeninT00l20 күн бұрын
    • Because the standard desk height is too goddamn high and I don't understand why. From looking at various desks I noticed most of them are around 74 cm tall, but this is too high. At that height, you have to lift up your chair to the max, which in most cases means you're barely touching the ground with your feet so you also need a footrest. I'm 1.85m tall, so not short by any means.

      @GDRobbye@GDRobbye20 күн бұрын
    • @@GDRobbye wow, just checked how low my $300 "SHW Adjustable Desk" lowers, and it hits 70.5cm, which seems low enough for a child! I'm 6 foot tall, and my preferred desk height is 75cm. I definitely agree with you that 74cms should not be the absolute minimum for one of these desk; way too high.

    • And Secret Labs' arm rests are actually horrendous; especially for a CAD$900 freakin' chair! >_< I bought one and regret it... The arm rests feel like they're from a $25 chair. They're not even solid; they wiggle every single way and it was this way right out of the box. These things aren't built well at all. Companies are just jumping on the band wagon of creating "premium" products for gamers, but aren't actually creating "premium" products. Just their price tags are premium. Never again with a Secret Labs chair. Such garbage. Worth like $250 max! Not the $900 I spent.

I've bought many $300-500 chair and the secret lab one I have now is by far the best. I will agree the normal arm rests aren't super plush but I got the memory foam up graded ones and they are a dream. It felt cheap to the point of almost breaking it after long amounts of usage (I work from home) The ergonomics on the chair aren't that good either. There's this some point in usage where I adjust the recliner, the gear would slip very often on the chair backrest of this Razer model. From months of usage. I decided to dispose the Razer chair instead. Pretty terrible products on Razer. Recently, I got a couple of office chairs that came from a business liquidation sales (I can't seem to find the manufacturer and model on these chairs, the models printed on the cloth have been cut off.) These office chairs had better true ergonomic feeling than what I bought from Razer. No more back pain, no more tiredness, and no more Razer! It saves your wallet. Office chairs are the way to go.

I really don’t game very much at all. - Most of the time I try to keep my spine straight at work, or lay down for relief (like when I’m watching your video right now, laying down) The only thing that I would love would be an inversion table. Or something that would put me upside down. That way I could straighten out my spine with gravity:-/

It started squeaking after few months and after 3 years the "leather" is starting to break and it feels like it'll soon completely apart.

  • Dr. Matthew Hwu, Razer Spokesperson. Not thrilled about the less-than-clear transparency about that here. I mean, common sense and all... this is obviously just a big ad for the chair... But I'd have still liked to see a more clearly defined "hey! This guy is the doctor from Razer's commercials!" If you absolutely have to feature him.

    • Agreed, also didn't know this. If there's going to be a medical professional giving advice, there needs to be a disclaimer if the professional is also being paid by a company for his appearance. I don't think his statements were wrong, but it does matter.

    • I don't get the issue here. It's not like he was extolling the virtues of the chair. In fact, he didn't say a single word about the chair that I noticed. Just some perfectly reasonable posture advice that would apply equally to pretty much any desk chair. What exactly does him being sponsored change about that? If instead LMG had paid him to come on and say the same things instead, would that advice somehow be more valid?

  • You failed to mention the most important difference to the Iskur v1 as far as I can see, and the reason I went for the Enki instead of the original Iskur. From this video, it looks like there are no more "wings" on the seat, you know, those wings on the side of the seat with metal bars on them that push your thighs towards the inside. From the video it looks like they are now soft, same as the Enki, which is a big improvement, and honestly the biggest improvement from v1. Weird you never mentioned it, it was the single deciding factor for me not buying the original.

I was always at risk for scoliosis or other back problems. Now that I’m older, I’m just dealing with those musculo skeletal issues (related to abdominal defects) The fact I’m 42 and still functioning OK says a lot. I’m just trying to be careful with my lumbar spine right now:-/ I need to not sit most of the time now . I don’t have the luxury of A) a chiropractor B) a massage therapist and C) additional income to ameliorate those issues (swimming is naturally easier on the spine) If I had the money, I would have a standing desk. I realize now a regular sitting desk is just not tenable now
