  • Anderson Silva was a broken man. He could probably see himself in Israel Adesanya. He knew he was staring at a younger version of himself. Both great fighters.

  • You can tell the connection between Adesanya and Anderson. The story that they're portraying. Anderson being faced with his age and imminent retirement to a sport he'd dedicated his life to, and Adesanya watching his hero grow old and having to retire him. It's truly touching to imagine their experience.

It was the transition to a new era and I cried at the end of that fight because of what it meant. I wish that The Spider would have retired from MMA immediately after this fight but he went on to take two more losses, both of which were finishes, by lower caliber opponents than Israel.

  • Wow this was a rare gem of an Mma moment. Silva realizes that if he loses it’s his last fight, He sees this young killer and knows what a challenge is in front of him and realizes it may be the passing of the guard to a new generation. Israel knows it too and he doesn’t wanna end his hero’s career but he knows this has to be done to get him to the top. Bittersweet for both guys. I think they will hold nothing back but I also expect to see some real respect and humility after this fight is over.
