Anderson Silva was a broken man. He could probably see himself in Israel Adesanya. He knew he was staring at a younger version of himself. Both great fighters.
I agree.

Aidan Guimont facts
At 1:35 you clearly see Andersson passing the torch to Adesanya
You can tell the connection between Adesanya and Anderson. The story that they're portraying. Anderson being faced with his age and imminent retirement to a sport he'd dedicated his life to, and Adesanya watching his hero grow old and having to retire him. It's truly touching to imagine their experience.
Truly was a passing of the torch.
As a casual fan, learning about this really did hit me kinda hard.

This really does feel like a passing of the torch moment.. But can't write Anderson off yet
Against my better judgement I find myself hoping he wins.
Remember he almost beat DC on short notice
Remember he barely beat Brunson and other than that hasn’t won since 2012.
You can write Silva off. Rhythm and timing fighters don't age well. Give my man some steroids and he has a chance, otherwise this fight is kind of silly. I don't think anyone wants to see Anderson get beat up, especially standing.
Are you guys forgetting that Bisping KOed Rockhold clean on short notice? Anything can happen in there.

This moment is just incredible. Silva literally passed the torch to Izzie and everyone can just see that’s what this fight meant symbolically. It was the transition to a new era and I cried at the end of that fight because of what it meant. I wish that The Spider would have retired from MMA immediately after this fight but he went on to take two more losses, both of which were finishes, by lower caliber opponents than Israel.
This made me love both these fighters. True classy exchange between two titans on either end of a time stream. Silva passed his torch to Stylebender, Stylebender knows exactly how much that means, and conducts himself like a consummate professional. Well done to both men.

Wow this was a rare gem of an Mma moment. Silva realizes that if he loses it’s his last fight, He sees this young killer and knows what a challenge is in front of him and realizes it may be the passing of the guard to a new generation. Israel knows it too and he doesn’t wanna end his hero’s career but he knows this has to be done to get him to the top. Bittersweet for both guys. I think they will hold nothing back but I also expect to see some real respect and humility after this fight is over.
Why would it end his career. Sorry I need a bit of catching up

This is a very honorable and respectable moment. This doesn't happen ever that I have seen in the ufc. Big ups to both of these guys.
This is what a true warrior is about. Fights but also 110% respect! Much love to this man!
The most badass people can also be soft and gentle, that's beautiful.
Having big muscles and being a good fighter doesn't mean anything. We're all still human.
Actually that's real martial arts. If someone bottles up their emotion it causes hardness, and hardness isn't as flexible or aware. Bruce Lee wrote some about the subject. Silva has always been really open and that's why his fighting is so fluid.

The one and only legend in the ufc history always been a huge fan of this man
I remember back in the day when everyone thought Anderson might retire after his contract was up, he shocked the community by signing I think an 8 fight deal which was unheard of... especially for a veteran. Most fighters go by 3 or 4 fight contacts. He later snapped his leg in half and everyone thought surely that was retirement. But he's still here. Amazing.

@Be Judicious he has never been cut where his muscles look ripped. Trust me he's in shape. But he's up against a young hungry lion looking to prove himself. Will be a big challenge for Silva.
He snapped his leg completely in half in his last fight. He’s emotional because he’s made such a long hard recovery. He realizes he could’ve easily never fought again. He’s feeling incredibly blessed here.
