DC explained himself well. He said he'd take Derrick with a short camp, but he wouldn't take Stipe. He explained Stipe has too many weapons and too many threats. He was also quick to say he wasn't dissing Derrick, that he felt comfortable taking a short camp to train against a dangerous puncher like Derrick, but not one as diverse as Stipe. It makes sense for DC. He may never get that RoidBoy fight (we can hope, Brock has nu fucking business EVER in the UFC again) and so he still has time to do a camp for either Stipe 2 or Jones 3.

I see your point and yes, its a gigantic mismatch and Lewis ia gonna get beaten really bad - Derrick himself knows that and that's why he dismissed the titleshot when speaking to Rogan in the ring. But at the end of the day, Lewis is nr. 2 in the rankings and DC already beat nr. 1, so in that sense, the choice of given Lewis the shot can be defended.

Joe has to call things like they are instead of trying to hype everything, of course anything can happen but the level of skill between these two fighters is astronomically large. One thing that’s always been underrated for DC is his cardio, he’s not going to let Lewis rest at all. I think this will be a round 2 submission for DC

I’m getting more and more convinced that Lesner pissed hot. There is no other major reason for DC to take this fight, risk losing he belt, or getting hurt before the Lesner fight in FEB/March/April 2019. The only other reason could be, that he’s getting paid WAY above his normal rate, for bailing out UFC 230. DC wants to make money off being a true CHAMP-CHAMP, and he deserves to.

I can't stand the UFC allowing fighters to contest other belts in other weight classes. You can't defend both belts in a timely manner. They should just strip the person once they try and contest another belt. Looking back at it, I don't think there's a single person who's defended both belts. All it does is make the weight division stagnant. It also looks bad when you strip a someone of a belt or interim belt. It just makes the whole belt system seems meaningless.

But at the end of the day, Lewis is nr. 2 in the rankings and DC already beat nr. 1, so in that sense, the choice of given Lewis the shot can be defended.

One thing that’s always been underrated for DC is his cardio, he’s not going to let Lewis rest at all. I think this will be a round 2 submission for DC

There is no other major reason for DC to take this fight, risk losing he belt, or getting hurt before the Lesner fight in FEB/March/April 2019.
