Supreme Court hears arguments in Trump immunity case

The Supreme Court weighed the question of whether former President Donald Trump should go to trial for plotting to overturn the 2020 election. Mr. Trump's lawyer argued that the Office of President would be hobbled without immunity, while the lawyer for the special counsel argued that there is no provision of immunity in the Constitution. Plus, David Pecker testified about what he knew of the payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep her relationship with Trump quiet. He also discussed an agreement the National Enquirer made with former Playboy model Karen McDougal. NBC News' Laura Jarrett and Vaughn Hillyard report.

  • A POTUS with complete immunity has no need of a Supreme Court.

  • Australia here! Question: What is the difference between a President and an every day person but for their title and call to duty, that what they do with their Life should subscribe to nothing other than human decency! There is nothing decent about granting a person - whoever they are! - such immunity that they can commit crimes with the sole intent of self-protection. And let's be honest, shall we? That is all Donald Trump is concerned about: his own protection, knowing full well that his is a criminal's mind, and one which when shrivelled up behind the closed doors of his gold-leafed delusional life, fears accountability!

  • This is ridiculous I don't care how important you think you are. If Justice is blind he should be held accountable for his crimes just like any American person I don't care how powerful or who you are. I would say the same thing about Biden or any other future president. This kind of thought process is the exact reason they pardoned Nixon. Because of one president can be held accountable, then every one after should be as well.

  • It's weird that conservative judges would be asking questions that somehow open the door to absolute immunity. The ruling in this case should be 9-0 in favor of no absolute immunity. They should have left the appeal court ruling stand.

Trump was the worst jobs president in recorded history. The distance separating America's highest and lowest income brackets grew by almost 9% annually. The Trump administration incurred the second-highest annual deficit of any president in history, and the federal debt held by the public increased 39%. 10 of the Dow's biggest single-day losses occurred under the Trump administration.
