HEAR HISTORY: Supreme Court hears Donald Trump’s Jan. 6th immunity claim | MSNBC

2024 ж. 24 Сәу.
704 319 Рет қаралды

The Supreme Court is hearing arguments in Donald Trump’s broad presidential immunity claim. The arguments focus on Trump's criminal charges over his attempt to overturn the 2020 election results and whether they should be dismissed based on that broad claim of immunity. The decision could impact Trump’s criminal trial in Washington, D.C., the criminal classified documents case in Florida and the election interference criminal trial in Georgia.

    • @@triciasingleton8800There is no democratic country without limits for such offices. US have to have something special (like inches, feet or galons - no other country except for two 3rd world countries. Can you say how many 345 cubic feet is cubic inches, without usage of a calculator) In decimal system I can transfer any unit, just add zeros 1km (kilo means thousand) = 1000m = 100 000cm (centi means hundred 1$=100 cents) = 1000 000 mm mili like million). I love how they refer to Jefferson, Washington etc. Your system of justice and democracy is ridiculous. Undemocratic voting system. To register yourself, so you can vote. Anywhere else where is democracy, every adult gets in their post box envelope with voting leaves, each party has one with names of candidates. With your laws and constitution you live in 18th and 19th century. When do you take voting right from women and people of colour will be slaves again? You're really making America great again. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Our supreme court does not create laws just solves court appeals, do not create laws. Our jurisdical system is not based on stare decisis like in US. We also don't have jury with 11 jurors. Just two jurors that with a judge decide about guilt. There is always some decision - 2 vs 1 or all 3 decided the same. Supreme court judge's term is 10 years.

  • Under the American Constitution, even the president is equal before the law. To bend that would give the mentally ill Trump absolute power and rights. If the US Supreme Court were to do this, ``America would no longer be a democratic country.''

  • Not to worry - Thomas, Barrett,Gorsuch and Alito will do their best to send this to a lower court - they do this to help Trump knowing good and well that it will delay the document case. Indeed they are just blowing hot air - these legal scholars are debating whether someone who is president has total immunity - the answer should be no but they want to muddy the waters with legal BS.

  • I just can't understand the issue our country is currently facing. Could somebody please explain to me in the simplest way how one individual could have caused our country to be turned upside down like this?

    • One individual didn't. You are witnessing ⚪ people show you who they really are. They have their evil false god to do their vile deeds under the banner of... But they have *always* been this way. Ever since they first set foot and despoiled these lands with their presence in 1492.

    • Billionaires monetarily influencing members of our Constitutional checks & balances. The one individual you reference is a bona fide narcissist who serves as the disruptor figurehead leading the clown circus that is merely falling in step with what their billionaire benefactors are directing. As citizens we need to scrutinize this pattern in all political parties. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. We need to be looking for public servants and not politicians in every level of government: local, state & national.

    • Dictator... just for one day. A worthy POTUS wouldn't even have brain space that could lead to such a concept. Dictator... for a day... is how it starts, where, we, do not get to finish anything since it means we've lost our Country. It is no longer ours, it belongs to the Dictator and his mooks. Make America Great Again... don't trade our country for an inane slogan coined by an evangelist of criminality.

  • If the courts are honest and true to the EVIDENCE and the LAW and duly and honestly executed at every level, then why should ANY president need special immunity since an honest and just outcome could be expected should ANY president be charges with a crime? Like ANY other “citizen” , NO citizen is ABOVE THE LAW.
