We have to start thinking about the planet we are going to leave behind for Keith Richards.
Keith Richards was never born, but he can never die.
😂😂
lmao
I first heard this joke in 2019 lol
Brilliant
I loved Keith in the 1700's, 1800's, 1900's, and especially his work in the 2000's to now. Can't wait to see what he does in the year 3000.
The vampire of rock and roll. 🧛♂🦇🎶🤘
Are you saying he will still be here long after the cockroaches have left us?
Reincarnation is natural law! ✌...so, friends are forever!
Banger
😂😂
I met Keith totally by mistake back in the '90s (we drove into the wrong Atlanta venue parking lot). He was just wandering around by himself before the show. Absolutely the nicest, sweetest guy ever.
Wow... nice one,!
Querido. Educado. E enorme professor. Ele tem 80 anos.
omg WOW!
Great story. Me and my friend from dealing days were on our way to Jamaica and we pulled up on Cheech and Chong, right after that first album had come out. We had memorized the abum, and so we made iidiots of ourselves, they laughed and said they wished they coukld go with us. Yeah right. Daves not Here.
Wow that's so cool! I'm very jealous! But so happy for you, I bet you were floored afterwards!
When you look at Keith after 60 years of playing you can see he still loves performing
the level of coolness Keith gives off is scary.
Yeah man and to me, that was always the difference between The Stones and the Beatles. Keith brought the cool the band. The Beatles were good but they didn't have the "cool". They didn't have a Kieth. The Stones every day of the week for me. Not even a question.
@@robertocarrion4878 He is a disciple of his hero Chuck Berry. Let's give credit where credit is due. Berry was the godfather of Rock. Keef is the god of Rock.
@@chrisd913 yeah same beatles dont seem cool like the stones
Like the coolest grandfather! They'll all cool. It's a tie for me between Mick and the late Charlie Watts. Mick Jagger is the only Rolling Stones member I ever met and that "Jagger Swagger" is in incredible. When I met him, Mick appeared to have a diamond between his teeth! It looked to be there sonwhen he smiled and a picture was taken, he would have a sparkle in his smile. Like in an old Ultrabrite toothpaste commercial! As for Charlie Watts, I'm also a Jazz fan and I loved his releases.
@teleguy5699 Chuck Berry once said his whole career was a Rosetta Tharpe imitation. Keith took influence from Tharpe too. But Tharpe never had the recognition she deserved. Rosetta Tharpe invented rock and roll.
Keith has played these songs millions of times and yet still has a smile on his face when he does so. The GOAT!
He brings smiles to millions of people when he plays the tunes, many of them he wrote
Yeah!! He's been playing these songs for millions of years. I mean, what's the point if you're not capable of smiling? Definitely THE GOAT🗿🍷🤌
The goat come on man… mediocre at best.
BOAT..... bestest of ALL time! or a goat on a boat! Peace!
@@G.u74 Keith better live than any shredder I've seen including EVH. He has a sense of tone and dynamics that is unmatched.
Name somebody cooler than the 80 YO Mr. Keith Richards playing an Acoustic guitar like that? A true ICON! I salute you🍻
😂😂👍👍🎸
No one thats who
anyone
Someone cooler than 80 year old Keith Richards? Try an 80 year old Albert Lee. He plays better now than Keith Richards ever did. Check out the video with him playing at Norman's Rare Guitars. The guy played with everyone, including the Everly Brothers for 20 years, Eric Clapton, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, and dozens of other musicians. Amazing.
Anyone who doesn't promote degeneracy and self-abuse to gullible young people is much cooler than this vile freak ever was or will be !
Keith - absolute legend. Talent does what it can, but genius does what it must.
"Segovia might disagree" 😂😂 Keith is a down to earth, bona fide legend. Respect. Huge respect to Jimmy for those superb vocals!

Jimmy Fallon's impersonation of Mick Jagger's voice is spot on!
That’s probably why he wanted Keith on the show so he could show how good he imitates Mick. I think Jimmy secretly always wanted to be a rockstar but it wasn’t in the cards.
@@GigiCorrado1Jimmy is better at music then comedy
One person who was even better at impersonating Mick, was David Bowie!
Is it tho? I'm not there with ya.
for real!i was impressed
One of life’s greatest mysteries how Keith is still here and performing, what a legend 👌🏼
Hair on the back of my neck stands up when he starts these riffs...they are simply our lifetime...as are the Rolling Stones
Agree
OH YES!!..could not agree more. I doubt today's non-entities when aged 80, could with just a plain basic guitar stummed just a few basic notes and create such magic, response and attention as he did. The older I get, the more grateful, blessed and thankful that in my teens and young man-years groups liked the Rolling Stones gave us such marvellous music which we took for granted and most likely will go on in the future as Mozart and Beethoven have done.
I read your post just as he began playing - and my hair did that thing!
@@wakeupuk3860 I could not have said it better myself. Amazing the Stones are still relevant in the music world. Nobody today has anything on them. Keith just picks up and plays the classics..memories of my teenage years.

Once the band gets the groove, Keef smiles. That's the ticket right there. He lives for the music. LEGEND!
It's more than a "gig",it's FUN... And you get paid quite well in the process.
ICON.mate....ICON..!
Yes he lives for the music and the band. I am not a Fallon fan, but he does a damn good job singing like Mick.
It brought tears hearing Keith hit that first note on that acoustic guitar. Even considering his age, he hit each note like they just finished recording them that morning. Also Jimmy was at his best imitating Mick. Excellent interview.
Keith Richards is the very definition of COOL. He's such an ICON AND A LEGEND. Keith is the Real Rock Star in the Rolling Stones. Keith loves music 🎶 🎵 ❤️
Keith has always been the leader of the band. So many Stones songs start with his riffs. Charlie would kick in then Bill. It always seemed so loose but this is a very tight band.
Every intro is pure magic, two chords and you know the song. His fingers are so deformed with arthritis yet he still plays amazingly, the guys a legend.
YO Well said.
The only thing pure is the crank that Keith smokes out of his rectum
Jimmy does a great Jagger impression; That old SNL sketch where he plays Mick Jagger’s mirror reflection is priceless! So glad Mick, Keith and Ron are still alive and well enough to tour and create new music!!!
I’m pointing my fingers, pointing my fingers, pointing at you!
Would have liked to see Mick Taylor back for a song or two. It was the Rolling Stone's greatest era when he was with them.
His Mick was just pouting his lips, putting his hands at his side, and walking like a chicken. Pretty tame
@@williamgullett5911 Yeah, lame indeed.
The Stones are rubbish now , Richards is a bumbling idiot that has been elevated into some sort of figure of adoration and the band are just driven by narcissistic greed . They were past their best 15 years ago , Jagger cannot even hold a note anymore . Pathetic old men trying too hard to be cool.
Love how quickly Keith and the audience sync together. He is so good.
I'm 50 years old I've been a Keith Richards fan since I was a small child and seeing this interview was FANTASTIC!!!
Jumpin Jack Flash isn’t even played in Open G which makes his on the spot improvisation on national television all the more impressive. Keef is another level of cool.
Missing the capo on the 4 fret
True, but they been playing it in Open G since '72.

It was great to see Keith. He's very candid and an amazing musician. I was quite surprised at how close Jimmy Fallon could imitate Mick Jagger. Well done!
Well, am I correct that NBC dumped Jimmy? If they did, then Jimmy can tour The Comedy Club's Circuits, and hire just a few starving comedy/musician's who need a "Big Break" and they can do a fun funny Jimmi Tation of a few Rolling Stone Song's and?
What a fool. Really nice of Keith to humor him like that.

Best interview ever. Jimmy and keith are phenomenal.
Jimmy is a spaz
Man...he's had arthritis for decades and he still kills that guitar. Not to mention all the other hurdles in his life. True musician.
Hurdles? Dudes been stoned since 1965, got to do the best drugs on the planet, travel the world, ejaculate inside random women every night. Yeah poor guy. What tough struggles he had 😂 I've read his autobiography. Other than some legal trouble he almost got into, he been fine. Also like, smoking cigarettes up until a few years ago? Thats insane. Good for him
Yes, and his swag at 80 is soooo cooool! Even sitting in the chair playing the body language just oozes rock guitarist rock icon rock god! The dude is what Michael Jackson calls Bad! By the way, the Stones were one of Michael’s most favorite groups, he and they were really good friends…the only English giant before the stones are the Beatles, after six years the Beatles were musically dead, but the stones have been a powerhouse since the first time they stepped on stage!
His groove is so in the pocket. It’s insane. You can play the same notes but you can’t get that feel. It’s unique.
This is very true. I've been playing in a modestly successful Stones cover band for five years and although the other guitarist and l have mastered all the licks, we still fall short getting the feel at times. There's something ironclad about Keith's timing that's elusive.
It’s interesting to see his right hand technique in this video. I think I’d have to unlearn a lot of what I think of as “correct” movement to play these riffs. He’s very loose and uneconomical with his hand motion. It’s so relaxed and yet when he strikes the note it’s at the perfect point in the beat. It’s interesting to hear how questlove is struggling a bit to lock in to the beat but Richards just grooves on without missing anything. It’s honestly more impressive than any guitar shredder I’ve seen.
Something the Joe Satriani fans can’t get their head round
True. It's uncanny. The first two bars of honky tonk women have that stones groove, and he's just playing the open strings with his right hand.
flash was a bit rusty though :)
Keith is having the world's longest party and he's loving it !!!!!!
Don't watch much Late night TV anymore but I can say 2 things. Keef is a legend and Jimmy Fallon can imitate so many rock stars that it is amazing.
He doesn’t put on airs, he’s just a dude who plays guitar and had a little success along the way, down to earth!
"I know I can do it, I just don't know how." That's what pop music misses these days...
Keith Richards does it so effortlessly. In fact, it seems like he's just fooling around. The sound coming out of that acoustic tells a different tale. One of my all time favourite guitar players.
Why?
Watch closely, he's not playing everything you're hearing.
This was the Best interview with Keith Richards that I have watched.
I can’t watch this enough. He is so unassuming, but he is running the whole show and it’s pure joy. Thank you for posting
One of my favourite things about Keith isn’t that he is the epitome of cool, is that he once joined a March to save his local NHS hospital in Chichester and despite being at the front of the march, he wasn’t interviewed by the press as he said others would be better at it than him. Truly cool people have no ego
He wasn’t interviewed because he wasn’t get paid!!

Thanks for that random , little known, and virtually unproveable account (Seriously???). STFU, and just admit he's one VERY COOL MOFO!
I expected Keith to be phenomenal, but Jimmy's Mick Jagger was very well done! 🤯
This is great. I actually have met Keith Richards twice as he lives near where I do in Connecticut. While he lives in Weston, CT I live in Wllton, CT. Saw hiim twice as our post office when we both were mailing a letter. Happy 80th birthday Keith Richards!!!
I like how Jimmy showcased Keith's amazing talent. Instead of Keith just showing some riffs Jimmy used the Roots and his own ability to impersonate Mick and put some vocals to the riffs. You can truly see Keith's face light up when Jimmy started to sing. Priceless.

Keith's recognition of Andrés Segovia says a lot about him and his incredible guitar and artistic tastes. Segovia, as well as Paco de Lucia, have been the greatest geniuses playing any guitar... while Keith took rock and roll (and also blues) to its maximum.
Yes, it is. But maybe Paco and Andres wouldn't have been able to compose these great modern songs if they had been Rock 'n Roll guitarists!! It never knows. Each one has his own abilities!!
When you look back at the Rolling Stones catalog (of songs), it is staggering and just about overwhelming. All the songs on the vinyl stuff (from my memory), all had "Jagger/ Richards" under the title. Simply amazing.
P.S. - Forgot to say that a lot if the Stones records had covers of blues artists also.
Segovia, was a classical guitar player, genius classical guitar player. The differences between the two styles are "stunning" some would say using a sports analogy, they are different as tennis is to bowling, keeping in mind Keith Richard's gut wrenching piledriving riffs.
