Funny but I can somewhat understand the reasoning. Unlike the Ultra Beasts, which are numerous in gen 7, those legendaries are one of a kind, if you exclude bringing them from another copy of the game because at that point you are pulling a gen 7 by going to a alternative universe to get a Pokemon

I decided to have my own try at a team for Magnolia that is a bit more geared towards her personality. Its mostly Pokemon that can be found on Route 2, since she can catch them without even needing to leave her garden (and she obviously doesn't get out much). 1. Orbeetle I think Orbeetle would work really well as a Gigantamax ace for her. It's said to be a very intelligent Pokémon, it's found outside her home and isn't used by any other major Trainer. 2. Corviknight. She has it on her cane and is found on route 2. Nuff said. 3. Milotic Can be fished up in the lake next to her house and it feels like a better fit for her than Drednaw or Gyarados. 4. Eldegoss Magnolia seems to be fond of gardening if the outside of her house is anything to go by. Seems fitting that she's have the regional "Old Lady Flower" Pokémon. 5. Polteageist "There are other things that are worth knowing about, too, you know. Like how many different types of tea there are!" If Professor Magnolia could only have one Pokémon, it would be Polteageist. She even has one in the Manga" 6. Obstagoon Can be caught on route 2, and there is an area across the lake from her home that is full of Zigzagoon and a wild Obstagoon. It doesn't really fit her personality as we see it, but I like the implication that Magnolia had a wild streak when she was younger and is secretly a massive punk rocker.

Ik that Laventon was part of Legends Arceus, and this video came out a year ago, but I thought I'd take a crack at it. 1&2: the 2 starters you didn't pick fully evolved. 3&4: Weavile and Unovan Braviary (because studying other forms would be good for a Pokedex) 5&6: Froslass and Gallade (the branching evolutions would be harder for Laventon to study, so he would just already catch them. )

@@therealcanada12 First off, their ace would be the either the box legendary, or if that's too op, Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant, respectively. For Sada, I feel like a fossil team would fit. Mainly Tyrantrum, Aerodactyl, Craydilly, and either Dracovish and Arctozolt, or Arctovish and Dracozolt. Gives her team more diversity than just rocks. For Turo, I think Magnezone, Klingklang, Probopass, Porygon-Z, and Beheeyem is my best bet. The futuristic feel shines in this team, and since Sada had 3 rock types, I gave Turo 3 steel types. No matter who you fight, bring a ground type.

There is a fan theory that Professor Oak WAS INDEED a former champion. He has access to Kanto Champion Hall and logs in to the computer to record your team when you beat the Epite 4 and champ is Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow as if it's a commonplace recurrence for him to do so. Also, it's stated in various games and the anime/ manga that Oak was a very strong and respected trainer in his youth. It's very likely Oak is a former Champ of the Indigo League.
In the pokemon manga, oak was a former champion, and fought and beat Agatha during the championship tourney.

What I would’ve done for Rowan: keep two or three of the evolution-themed Pokémon you already picked but replace at least one with Pokémon that don’t evolve (perhaps Spiritomb or Carnivine). Reason being that one key aspect of his research is also finding out why certain Pokémon DON’T evolve, like what makes them different.
I could see oak with an executor and the starter that was never chosen by you or your rival.

So just a little thing that I noticed. When Sonia moves to the Crown Tundra for her research on the Swords of Justice, there is a Beldum living in her “house”. I think this would be a cool Pokémon to add as a nod to her travelling all over for her research.

Rowan was likely a champion at some point, Oak(who as you know was supposed to be the secret final boss and a champion as well) learned from him and Cynthia received her pokedex and likely her starter from him as well, plus he's present in the Hall of Fame alongside Cynthia when you beat her just like Oak was in Gen 1 when you beat Blue and as we know the Hall of Fame is stated in R/S/E to be reserved to the Champions only So the likely timeline would be something like this: -Rowan the Sinnoh Champion and pokemon researcher at some point went to Kanto to learn about the evolutions there -He found the young aspiring trainer Sam Oak and taught him for a bit -Oak became the Kanto Champion after beating Agatha and later retired to make the kantonian Pokedex Project -This inspired Rowan to give one pokedex to his new promising student Cynthia in order to update the Sinnoh's dex -Cynthia did so and eventually grew up to become the trainer we know her to be, beat her former teacher and becoming the new champion in the process -Being the new Champion made Cynthia too busy so she eventually had to ditch her pokedex, but she still keeps her archeological research during her free time as that is her passion -Rowan retired as a full time pokemon professor becoming most important specialist on pokemon evolution in the entire world, helping young trainers such as Dawn to start their journey and keep improving the Sinnoh Dex just like he did with Cynthia years ago

Yeah, kinda like Pikachu in the anime refusing the Thunderstone, perhaps Nidorino has built a bond with Oak, and through that bond - even on type advantage or disadvantage - Oak can rely on Nidorino no matter how bad the situation (and could perhaps get clutch victories because of it)
I thought that Professor Rowan would have an Eevee Evolution on his team in some way, since Eevee is the embodiment of Pokémon Evolution - stones, time of day, friendliness, location, it works extremely well.
The issue is probably picking the type of it. Unless he uses two eevees, he would have to favor one of the evolutions. Maybe he could use sylveon, considering it's an evolution that's not actually seen in anywhere in his region (even in the remakes) but it's included in legends arceus. Maybe nobody knows how to get it and his research involves bringing that evolution back.

It makes sense that Kukui is the strongest in Pokémon battles, since he studies Pokémon moves. It's somewhat well known that each professor specialises in a specific field. (Minor spoilers for some character development in Sword and Shield, so if you don't know who I'm talking about, then assume you haven't got that far into the game yet) Prof. Samuel Oak (Kanto Oak) studies Pokémon and human relationships, Prof. Elm studies Pokémon breeding, Prof. Birch studies Pokémon habitats, Prof. Rowan studies Pokémon evolution and form changes, Prof. Juniper studies the origin of Pokémon, Prof. Sycamore studies Mega Evolution, Prof. Kukui, as I've already mentioned, studies Pokémon moves, Prof. Samson Oak (Alola Oak) studies Totem Pokémon and Regional Variants, Prof. Magnolia studies dynamaxing, And Prof. Sonia studies the history of Galar. There are some more, but these are the ones from the mainline game, and noticeably only Kukui actually studies battles. Sure, Sycamore and Magnolia study Mega evolution and Dynamaxing respectively, but while those are used for battle, they aren't central to Pokémon battles, like moves are.

The vast majority of these characters use a number of canonical Pokemon in the manga. For instance, Oak is shown winning a previous Pokemon league championship alongside a Kangaskhan, Elm uses a Sentret during Silver's heist, Birch has a Wailord and Tropius that his daughter borrows, and Cedric Juniper uses a lot of his Samurott throughout the BW arc.
Yeah but the manga universe is so different that you can't really use its feats for the videogame characters; that's why he didn't use the books as reference for the Every Protagonist Team video.
@@darkfiredragon3410 That's different because they're separate characters. For instance the G/S male protagonist from the manga is "Gold" and in the games is "Ethan." The only shared ones are Red, Blue, and Green, who all already had canonical teams anyway.

I know he never uses one in the games, but I think genesect (despite being a lagendary) should be on Colress' team, Colress' team seems to be based around technology and he's a former scientist of team Plasma, so a pokemon that was scientifically altered by team Plasma would be a good fit, I even believe that Colress was the one to create genesect to begin with

With Elm's team, I would switch out either togetic or corsola for the starter that was left over, corsola was only shown to be owned by him in the anime and the player character is the one who eventually gets the togeoi egg in the games, maybe replace the other with raichu since pichu is another well known baby pokemon
Also, as someone else noted here he was very surprised by the Togepi egg and said that it seems to belong to a species not usually found in Johto, so it's hard to believe that he managed to find another one so quickly after Mr. Pokemon did AND/or raise it to be usable on a Champion-level team.

I love the Kalos games, I really like the idea of mega evolution. I’m so pleased they carried it on in the Alolan games. Dyna/Gigantamaxing is fine too I guess.
So I was sad that mega evolution only appears in 3 battles in X and Y

Game freak only had 9 months to develop the Kalos games They had to make over 600 Pokemon 3D models, story, 30 fps 3d animations for all the 3D Pokemon models Sure they might not be the best, but what they did in the time they had was amazing. XnY don't deserve any of the hate they get
@@mr.lholmes650 no they don't, I'm aware that they start development before announcing but gamefreak currently only has a 200 something employees as of now, and they probably had FAR less back then. BW2 and XnY were both in development at the same time, and it's obvious which one they put more employees into. Even, let's say a year of development isn't enough to make 30 FPS animations of every Pokemon along with 600+ new models when the majority working on it aren't even familiar with 3D software.
I would have given Birch Castform. Hoenn has some of the most prominent overworld weather of any region, in fact it is part of the environmental theme of Hoenn along with the Weather Institute and the Legendary Pokémon that would affect Hoenn's climate.

It's kind of funny how since Oak would be left with the starter weak to yours, he is getting the starter that is strong against your rival, so he's essentially spanking his son's arse in battle.
Why would he be 'left' with it; you're assuming he would use that unevolved form. He would probably have all the starters fully evolved.

@@Mqstodon Yeah but they're still pretty overpowered despite not being Legendaries. They're basically Legendary in terms of power. Plus, Burnet was the Dream Radar professor, so I say its allowed to give her the Therian formes of the Forces of Nature. Plus, if anything, it gives a reason to use Bisharp more often since it hard counters Landorus Therian thanks to Defiant and Focus Sash to survive Earthquake.
While the Watchog on Pr Juniper’s team is absolutely justified, it is a champion team. I’d swap it out for Golurk, for similar reasons to Sigilyph
I’d also give Fennel an Archeops because in the episode “Archeops In the Modern World” she successfully restored an Archen from a Plume Fossil and studied how the Archen learned to fly. Also I really like the Archen/Archeops from that episode. She was absolutely adorable.
That Archeops ended up joining a group of others of its species that showed up because they heard one of their species and left tho, meaning that either the species as a whole survived the extinction by hiding somewhere and started avoiding more modern live forms, or someone else revived those Archeopses and they escaped to hide somewhere from the present day; either way, I don't think she would be that inclined to revive a second one, just to end up with another prehistoric bird that'll just panic about its resurrection and probably make those Archeopses reappear to take it with them.

I feel like Rowan should include as many types of Evo as possible, which this team here doesn't do a bad job. Snorlax and loppuny for friendship, Mamoswine and yanmega for a move, gallade for a stone and gliscor for a item at a specific time of day. I'd probably change either snorlax or loppuny for roserade, since it's Evo line has two different ways of evolving, yanmega for either probopass or one of the Eeveelutions of this gen for location evos and probably gallade (because of the overlap with roserade) for a trade one, leaning on electivire since it kinda seems to match his personality, but it's a toss up on that one tbh

For Sonia’s team you actually gave her a Pokémon that made a lot of sense. The ninetails is a Pokémon she would’ve probably caught during Kabu’s gym challenge.
