imagine if the fight happens. mma rules and ryan is just too fast and keeps knocking down sean and wins with a stoppage or knock out. no grappling, etc, the fight is over before it gets to that. that would be the biggest moment in fight history and would bring into question a lot of things as if a high-level boxer can walk into mma and win by out working the opponent with just hands does that mean mma guys will start to realize the importance of good boxing fundamentals as no offense to any mma guys reading this but let's be honest a lot of mma guys overlook boxing and a lot of them have sloppy punches.
There's just no way he would piece up his legs to death he wouldn't be able to get in easily like you can in boxing. Ryan's legs aren't trained to take kicks and even a year of training wouldn't change that. Watch the Ian Garry fight vs Neil. Obviously Ryan would be a much better striker but taking so many leg kicks like that Neil couldn't even walk right after the first round and that's not including clinch

U can have sloppy boxing in mma cause a lot of boxing doesn’t necessarily translate well on its own if u had a boxer with wrestling mixed in you have a good fighter who could do MMA well I would say but just boxing it’s not gonna be a clean transition especially when you realize a lot of these unorthodox styles or sloppy techniques actually are somewhat effective due to the fact that you don’t need the best boxing if ur getting outboxed u can throw a clinch with some knees and elbows or transition into a takedown among other things

I love how a fighter has one good night and they’re considered a “new version” of themselves. Max could have just been having a really good night, or something about Justin matched up very well for him, or maybe it was a little of both. So many fair-weather fans. Before the fight everyone was acting like Justin was the best because he had head kick KOd Dustin in his last fight… fans need to chill with that shit. Also I’ve heard the exact opposite as far as a mcgregor card being stacked. Some people argued they would stack his cards and make them a huge draw as a bargaining chip. When fighters would ask for more pay the ufc would tell them they weren’t a draw and compare their numbers to mcgregors. This guy is just a mcgregor nut hugger

Anyone else feel like these crossover fights lose a bit of excitement after a while? Like mcgregor was on top of the world when he fought the arguably best ever boxer in his early 40s in boxing but nothing compares to that.

Shaun back at it! did you see the flight live? i was pissed i missed the ryan fight, was waiting for ryan to get back in the ring and fkin missed it... would have got some nice change depending on what the odds were like but yea idk about sean 0_0
the issue here is that you still have to get within striking range to win a fight in the cage. 1 left hook from ryan and it could literally lay sean out starfish style. and those hooks are fast af and definitely faster with the small mma gloves. basically, they would be faster than anything sean has ever seen in his life and would not be able to avoid them. the only way sean wins is if he sticks to kicks and doesn't actually close distance. basically just let the kicks break ryan down and finish him that way. because a close-range fight would more than likely end with sean getting knocked out cold. people act as if that old retired 50 year old boxer didnt walk in and KO a former UFC champ in 1 round. obviously an mma fighter will more likely win in mma but to just dismiss someone based on them being "boxers" is idiotic. anyone has a chance in either sport. if you can throw a punch, you have a chance.
I would argue Sean’s biggest issue is working in the pocket that last bit against Chito had him hurt and Tim himself was worried when Sean engaged in it but also I mean there’s more than kicks Sean can win by if I was him and wanted that punch KO I would just use mix in kicks with a lot of elbows and feed the illusion of an offensive based solely on that and then mix in a sneaky punch whatever O’Malley wants he can do this especially because he is so tall and lanky works with his body type well and I doubt Garcia knows the clinch like O’Malley
@@mlgfails2727 the issue is that once he mixes in elbows, he's within striking range. a ryan garcia punch will reach sean WAYY before sean's elbow connects. He'd be knocked out before he even gets a chance to elbow garcia. Giving garcia a chance is just stupid considering what garcia does to people around his weight. he just knocks them out stiff. haney is considered a defensive master in boxing. Sean won't be as hard to hit if he closes the distance on garcia. ofcourse sean can win with elbows etc, but it would be too dangerous at that point and he'd risk getting knocked out. also, i doubt garcia would attempt to clinch. he'd be throwing hard hooks as soon as o'malley gets close. im telling you as someone who trains in various combat sports, those small gloves make boxers way faster than people realize. that's why austin trout is having huge success in BKB because he's way too fast without those giant boxing gloves slowing him down. if o'malley doesnt want to risk embarassment, he'd just kick garcia to death rather than risk getting KO'd stiff by attempting to "do whatever he wants".
@@DrPlans also train in a lot of combat sports yeah there faster but if you genuinely know what to expect when from someone with fast hands you know theirs only really one weapon to worry about and it’s not like Garcia would choose to clinch you don’t really choose when someone clinches on you and if you know ur opponent is gonna throw big crazy hooks you won’t get surprised. Sean also has knock out power and Idk Garcia never fully knocked Devin out he got close woulda got a tko prolly if the ref hadn’t stepped in but no straight to sleep power and it depends how you throw your elbows too and at what range I can see Sean easily pivoting and cutting angles and mixing in knees and elbows and frustrating Ryan since it’s so different to boxing and he would if he wanted to throw in takedowns just to make Ryan bite on more things Ryan had a chance but Sean has a way bigger chance in boxing only of beating Ryan that Ryan does beating Sean in MMA especially with a coach like Tim really Sean biggest weapon in my opinion Goated Coach right there and again only time Sean was hurt was when he did something Tim knew would be trouble. He will ensure O’Malley avoids danger

It's a lot harder to avoid a boxer's punches because their hand-eye coordination is next level. They hit moving targets with their fists for a living. Look what happened to Ngannou as soon as he faced a real puncher from boxing. Different level power than anything he had felt before. All these boxing/mma crossovers have always been against feather fisted boxers that couldn't crack an egg like floyd and paulie. ryan is a puncher. look at pulev and mir. hell, ufc guys can barely handle jake paul's power and he's not even a good boxer. ryan is an elite level puncher. all im saying is that its stupid to give him a chance by getting in close. sean should just dismantle him from the outside. because if he gets close and ryan lands on him, it will probably be over very quickly.
I could definitely see ryan being a prodigious mma fighter if he practiced in the field.. i mean he already has 2/4 of what i believe is required to be an all around fighter. He would definitely need leg kicks and grappling.. his movements and boxing is already good enough, but not to the point where he can fight ppl with more tools in their belt.. ofc in the realm of boxing i definitely believe Ryan takes the match. its his element after all, as is mma for Sean..

I think Ryan could win in MMA if submissions were not allowed. Full on MMA I would expect Sean to shoot and make Ryan Tap Fast or Break/snap something . In Boxing Its the opposite Ryan Sleeps Sean when ever he wants to. Mixed MMA rules with no submission would be fire. Sean has a hell of a chin but Ryan connecting in those tiny gloves would be bad.
I don't think that matters if he can take down or not Ryan will not be able to handle high volume leg kicks if O'Malley stays on the outside until Ryan's legs are gone. It happens to UFC fighters who are trained to handle shots like that would be 100x worse for someone with no experience

For the sport, Ryan missing weight definitely makes him a clown. But it was honestly a smart move for his finance in my opinion, as everybody knows he won a lot of money betting on himself after acting like he was getting drunk the whole time before the fight(which would definitely increase his weight) so that people would bet against him and compared to his profit, he lost a negligible amount. I still think it was wrong of him to miss weight as a professional fighter though.
