After recording the audio, I watched the show a third time while editing the visuals, and I noticed something interesting... As a child, Mirana was bitten by a spider. We also saw the Invoker carry a spider over to one of the hybrid flowers. Since a spider was referenced more than once, there may be something there. Spiders have eight legs and eight eyes, and there are eight Eldwurms. So the spider may just be symbolic of the eight parts that make up the whole. But please let me know if you can think of anything more specific. Thanks!

Poor Marci, I wanted to see more of her character. I also didn't think they would kill off so many of the new characters by the end of the season, hopefully they are brought back some way or another later down the line.
I thought Marci was dead dead, until this morning. Now I think it's just Lina and Auroth, and Marci is sleeping. It might be wishful thinking though lol
She still has more stories to Tell. We haven't even met Wei yet or Magina.

Kasshura is from different reality. A different version of the Void dragon from the reality that this story took place. After Kasshura exposed to the Dire and Radiant influences, he got released from the cycle of Eldwyrm. From here on out, he travelled to every reality, in search of the Eye of the world or the Light creation. From all of the reality he visited, he found one where its was in the form of human which he can get closer. And for every Royal generation he watches, it was Mirana he took the most interest. Take note that the void dragon comes from the essences of nothingess the opposite of Mirana who was the embodiment of Light creation in a human form.

Like many people here stated, my main complaint about this series is the pacing. It has a lot of potential for character development and to explore Dota lore, but the neck braking pace is doing it no favors. Things just progress so fast from scene to scene that the audience has no time to get really invested. Hopefully they take a few notes from Arcane and try to dial the speed down a notch.
Probably because Netflix just want to keep it 8 episodes and the problem with it is that since it's an animated series, they can only just make it 20-30 minutes episode can't go beyong that like Arcane, arcane had 6+ years of development and bigger budget of course
If they made it 12 or 15 episodes, it would have been enough to build and it would have been godlike. Netflix always knows how to fuk things up.

@@icroosing I wouldn't say there are many plotholes, but there are a lot of things that the show does not explicitly explain and could be inferred(How selemene got her powers back, how is Marci so strong, how did mirana recover after getting shot by the arrow, Void dragon backstory, etc) but the fast pacing of the second half of the season doesn't let you breathe and process a lot of things. Things happen one after the other, and even though they make sense once you go back and analyze them, they feel kind of random and disconnected in the moment. Most of the issues with this season could have been fixed by letting the characters breathe a little and maybe re-arrange the order of some scenes like the void dragon backstory, the endless stream of action is cool but it ends making the story less cohesive and makes the big moments have less impact.
The book 2 was really good. I think in the future we will saw Marci, Lina and Auroth again. Don't forget what Terrorblade said to Invoker about multiverse.

Auroth and Marcis death seemed like a disservice to their recent character development and was totally unnecessary. Only problem I have. Really hope they bring them back next season
having 2 ancient radiant and dire probably is why kasshura get conflicted personality, since radiant and dire is always conflict with each other like how kasshura loves mirana so much but killing everyone she loves, different case with auroth only inflicted by the radiant stone, just my theory tho, also the statue that holds the ancients that kasshura has is the statue of the arc warden which is the otherworld beings that hold the radiant and the dire together and seal it into a madmoon before it breaks, interesting how kasshura knows about it.
Maybe Kasshura got infected with the dire ore as in lore dire represent strength and the blue ore represent intelligence, they are in conflict over one another and wanted to take over each other
good call. i probably should've mentioned that with words instead of just visuals. but it was definitely interesting that Auroth had only the Blue Radiant Ore, whereas Kashurra had both Blue and Red Dire Ore. and like you said, since they are in conflict with each other, maybe that's why Kashurra had sort of a split-personality thing going on as far as the statue that you mentioned ... is that Lore from the game or was that mentioned in the S1E1 intro?
@@bridge4 It's from the game. Arc Warden is 3rd ancient who trapped dire and radiant in prison inside the moon, but they somehow escaped from it (you can see 2 moons in the sky, one is cracked). Their pieces fell on planet and now corrapting minds of mortals and even dragons to fight by their side., giving them power But it seems some creatures like Auroth can resist ancients will and use this power for their own good. Still no idea why Kaasshura had a statue of Arc Warden in his house, guess he knows the story and it's just symbolic for him, or even it's just a fan service
@@Arturusss777 you must understand that Arc Warden is always trying to reunite the Radiant and the Dire. It can be assumed that dragons are quite significant in the world, therefore, most likely Arc Warden himself is pulling the strings and trying to collect crystals, just like in the recent Nemesis event.

I liked it very much, and especially the dragon in her female human form. The only thing that is a little annoying is the fast pacing that makes it hard to follow. Maybe this is because of financial reasons? If that is the reason they should consider that if they pay more, but create lengthier episodes with more time for each character they will only gain from that!
This is my issue with season 2, things are going at light speed. Season 1 was so much easier to follow and understand
Arc Warden's cameo truly gave me the chills.

So I finished book 2 last night myself and enjoyed it- the visuals were as gorgeous as ever, the new characters are thoroughly intriguing and set designs are fantastic! However, the pacing was simply horrible... so much happens and what does happen has little to no emotional impact due to its light speed pace. Absolutely devastated at the loss of auroth and marci however 😫

same here. i used to rock out to a song called DOTA, but i had no idea until last year that it was based off of a video game lol. i hear ya though on Lina and Davion's relationship. when they first met, they felt like they knew each other. Later on, they fought, and Slyrak called her his child. She refused to accept that, yelling "I am the fire!" haha but then when she was killed, Slyrak once again took control of Davion because he was raging that Kashurra had killed his child of fire, Lina its interesting to think that some people (or maybe all?) have an affinity for a certain type of dragon. Lina was associated with the Fire Dragon by nature, whereas Davion was associated by his circumstance with Slyrak. But now that Slyrak has left, is DAvion's relationship to fire done? or was Fire a part of his identity that he always had, but that he had repressed... ?
@@bridge4 with regards to the last part I reckon davion had no prior relationship with the aspect of physical fire but showed true 'fire' in a sense during his battle with the earthwyrm in episode one. He's someone who is unafraid of a trial by fire and will prove himself time and time again- impressing slyrak. We need to remember these dragons can be far more than their base nature and have extreme and extensive intelligence. I would also very much like to know how lina got her powers/ mastery over fire and if there are others in the world with different dragon aspects... these questions only deepen my belief this book was insanely rushed but hey ho we move
I liked the way how the characters are developing, each of them is unique and has its own purpose, before I watched the series I read a lot of comments people saying book 2 was disappointment, I don't understand why, people just need to follow the series with brain, unfortunately, most people like only the scenes of battle. I mean the flashbacks were perfect, the animation were perfect and everything was very unexpectable. in the game, the stories of mirana and luna says that they still worship selemene, i think they should change it after this season. thanks for the explanation btw.

when you say they change it, are you saying that you want to see Mirana and Luna go back to Selemene now? or do you want to see them go back if Selemene becomes better? side note: one of the things i regretted most about leaving out of this video was a metaphor that they used in the show (they said something along the lines of Mirana's light was being eclipsed by the Moon)

I can certainly understand why some people are disappointed by this season because especially for people who aren't familiar with the games, this season was very convoluted and hard to follow. They didn't explain much and just assumed you'd know everything. For exaple why Kashura was so powerful even though he wasn't an Eldworm etc.
Actually they don't need to change anything.Hear me out. I think we need to watch this series like we are playing a game of dota game starts from one point and can divulge in any which way like mentioned in the conversation between TB and Invoker there many different alternative realities as we can see invoker in different cosmetics in the fractals. So in the series rendition we are following the events that would transpire from the choice of fymryn stealings the lotuses leading to Miranas exile the downfall of Selemene etc. The theme of choices are very prevalent in the series and the parrellels between a game of dota for example how Winter Wyvern acting as a support saved Bram and Kayden talks about how to keep fighting on and that her choice was right. Eventually a game of dota is all about choices , sure we all regret some it's inevitable but being salty about it and flaming , trying to throw a game just means you haven't leaned a god's damned thing. Just learn and move on. So essentially I'm trying to say is prolly when we play a game of dota we aren't exactly starting from the same series of events or timelines as the series.Heck this makes Personas have alot more place in the series. Because the Persona of Davion of Dragon Knight from the series isn't exactly the same as the base persona.
It was a good season. They just should have kept Lina alive. She was very intriguing. Kashurra was a fine antagonist but we needed at least one more episode. I still don't understand the climax or pacing of it.
Lina quickly became one of the coolest characters. So sad to see her dead.
We didnt see Lina's body in the final throne room scene. Time for max Copium.

Good summary. I've seen a lot of people confused at why Kashurra turns out to be so powerful, but the answer lies in the stones. We saw what the red stone did to Mirana and the zombies in the cave, and we also see what the blue ore granted Auroth. So with both of those, Kashurra is pretty damn dangerous. I'm interested now that Luna has rejected Selemene if she'll serve Mirana, now that she's the new Solar Goddess, or if she returns to Nightsilver if Fymryn becomes Mene.
thats a good question. Luna had a conversation with Mirana where she said she used to look at her as a pesky little girl (or something like that), but now she sees in Mirana what Selemene saw. so if i had to guess, Luna is totally on team Mirana now
the answer does not lie within raident and fire. the void dragon is powerful because he is the physical manifestation of the void itself
I love stories that put the heart in conflict with itself. Those are the most interesting shows for me now that I'm in my 40's. A good story and a few good actors, and I'll get ASMR during the great parts...... Thanks for another great breakdown. I wish the season was a bit longer but it was a good way to kill a few hours

When i had scripted this video, i assumed all three were dead (Lina, Auroth, Marci). but while making the video, i convinced myself that Marci was alive. but unfortuantely, she's not. i had missed it due to focusing on Bram's voiceover, but one of the final shots was of Mirana at Marci's grave (you probably saw it, but i figured i'd throw it out there just in case)
I really hoped and wished that in season 3, they would like find a way to bring back Marci, Lina, and Auroth because killing these three characters is just an emotional train wreck. I mean Bram and Auroth have like a bond and it was progressing well until that Void Dragon ruined it by killing her and Lina is like literally one of my favorite bravest characters in the series and the Void Dragon killing her just wrecked me and lastly Marci. I could describe how emotionally wrecked when the Void Dragon suffocated her to death. I really hoped and wished they bring these three characters back.

I’m still confused on how there’s two void dragons. I thought the Choas dragon killed him unless the void dragon Mirana killed was from another universe since terrorblade said something about a multiverse
I believe we are suppose to think of Void dragons in general as a species as a whole and just assume that only ever one void dragon can ever be an elder wyrm at any given time.
He said that the ore freed the void dragon from the song of the Thunder, meaning he was no longer under the control of the the void elderwym. There are other void dragons, we just haven’t seen any up until now.

@@jonathanmacancela2284 He's absolutely ancient and infused with the power of THE Ancients, so he grew to a massive size. Remember Auroth was bigger and more powerful than a lot of the other water aligned dragons who attacked Dragons Hold for the same reason. Age and influence of the ancients.

I enjoyed season 2. I had to watch season 1 again just before watching this and I am so glad I did. I love Marci the most. I don't think it was intentional but she looked like Korra in avatar state for a moment there when she fought Kashurra, I was pleased to see that. It's really sad that she is gone.

Greetings fellow New Jersian! Great video! From someone who hasn't played the game, and isn't familiar with the lore, you really explained everything so well! Amazing breakdown, and I didn't even notice the voice from the first season returned when Mirana touched the relic. There's so much lore and easter eggs that I enjoyed in the two seasons as a Dota player and although book 2 felt rushed, I hope even non-players enjoyed the world building in the show.
here's one little bit that i didnt realize until after i recorded (and was too lazy to record). in season 2, Mirana spoke about the voice to someone and said that it was her mothers voice =)) thank you for the kind words btw. its a very interesting world. and as i am reaading through the comments, some hardcore DOTA2 fans are mentioning stuff that seems awesome (although admittedly, it's probably going above my head lol)

are you referring to Kashurra's statue that was holding the two pieces? so that was a person/entity that imprisoned the Radiant/Dire in a giant rock. but then the rock was shattered, releasing them both back into the universe? do you know if someone intentionally shatter it for a specific reason?
Yes the statue. Zet is supposedly the third fraction of the primordial mind. Unlike his brothers which are the opposite of each other and just wants to destroy each other(Dire and Radiant) he wishes to unify all of them back into a whole primordial mind so he imprisoned them inside a giant rock that eventual became a moon (or mad moon)orbiting a planet. Even imprisoned ,radiant and dire continues to battle each other until eventually their powers corrupted the rocks turning into dire stone and radiant ore. Zet the arc warden was unable to stop this as it was too powerful for him to handle as he became weaker after acting as jailer for eons . The mad moon shatters and the radiant ore and dire stone fell into the planet below.
In the lore, all of the multiverse has a constant endpoint. The war of the ancients.
Thanks, your video made a lot of things clearer to me. That being said, I have no idea why the void dragon randomly destroyed the city, Mirana understanding who she is changed nothing about her abilities and she had to rely on Marci and SAGAN to fight, and a million other things that just made no sense. Terrible writing in my opinion.
ive seen it three times, and im still trying to wrap my head around some stuff. in terms of Mirana though, she found out who she was. but that wasn't enough. seeing her best-friend die (or nearly die), was the catalyst to her finally opening her eye, so to say so long story short, s2 was mostly a teaser for her since we have only just begun to see what she can do.

I only tuned into this show for Lara Pulver (Murana) she is a great actress and love her voice. So glad that I fell for the story. It is certainly rich with lore and deep history. Your reviews help a lot. Thanks, again. Fabulous animation!!!
Radiant ore is known to have the influence to give people who have been exposed to it the power of Wisdom while giving them more intelligence, opposite of the Dire stone where it would influence you with madness and anger with a bonus of strength. There also have been lots of mentions of Order and Chaos, so it really makes sense to see the statue of Zet the Arc Warden. As Arc Warden is supposedly to be the influence of order and balance. It makes a lot of sense to see Kashurra keep talking about order and balance while he has love for The Eye, it's possible that he himself has met Zet at some point and has been talking with him. While the constant mentioning of Chaos could also be a calling card to Chaos Knight himself since Mirana is the "Light" of this world he could soon invade this reality and hunt her down, and Ezalor the keeper of light could also appear as he is literally the first light of the main DOTA world. Lots of possibilities here and there's more hidden lore in the ingame Mirana item called "Nightsilver Mirana" persona item where her responses to other heroes could be hinting at what's gonna happen in the future.

I think something that would make this show better is some characters that spout exposition every time someone appears in a huge battle, like other anime
I understood it as Kasshura realized he was part of the source he was looking for and he despaired realizing that being seperated from his eldwyrm seperated him from the source. That's why he found the eye of the worldwyrm, because it gave him another chance to come closer to the source of light.

Also the fact that we didn’t get Davion acknowledging her and reacting to losing Marci because he was close to her too and it kind of felt weird to me that he never looked at Marci at all just focused on Mirana

honestly i would be happy if season 3 onward would have a different name and not be about mirana and davion. this anime seem to have a huge scale like and epic fantasy, i want the attention somewhere else for now.
really enjoyed this series- just kinda bumped into it without knowing anything and only half thought it had anything to do with a game. it didn't have a too gamey feel, and characters were likeable. thought that eye thing might have been hidden in marci and i guess i was kinda right- without realising it, she was grated client access the eye. so, there is going to be a third season?
Story and animation is nice but i feel like i've been watching cutscenes througout the season, the transition was like that for me since season 1 and the finale was underwhelming imo, light shone then the void dragon dead or gone? I was expecting a fight then it suddenly ended 😅

maybe marci, lina and ww are in the narrow maze with razor and visage and try to escape the maze. great timing for monkey king to be introduced and he did accomplished it by ripping his name from the book of the dead, or maybe just maybe not introducing them in a multiverse plot (im having split thoughts on this) because if you bring them back in another multiverse it feels like mirana's god form was just worth nothing if they would just come back in a simple way, it just not the same way since they are alive last time just died then alive again, but the other side was they are just back
4:20(i know funny number) I had a theory on this. Terrorblade wanted the powers of the dragons so that he can end the conflict of the primordial mind(dire and radiant), i think the dire and radiant ancient will be the final villain and terrorblade just want to reshape the whole world into his likeness to end the ancients. He needs the power of the dragons to achieve it.

Here's my bid for plot points and maybe an inaccuracy: 1) Is Kashura another Byssrak from another dimension (multiverse) set free by the Dire and Radiant, or is there an inconsistency in the show where we think we see him get obliterated by the Chaos Dragon when The Invoker claims 5 dragon souls? 2) Kaden turns into Sven or is Sven in another universe, because 1] big sword, 2] mobility like Sven has with his scepter Q ability, 3] Rylai/The Crystal Maiden likes him (I think CM and Sven date in Dota, but it could be a fan-fic; 3) Fymwryn keeps getting betrayed, Mirana is the Goddess of the Sun and Luna becomes the Goddess of the Moon, but Fymwrn gets torn apart dimensionally and becomes The Phantom Assassin - gameplay wise, they can both blink, fade, and use similar weapons. Bonus 4) I'm rooting for Carl (The Invoker) to beat Terrorblade, collect all of the dragon souls (including Slyrak), but when faced with recreating the universe where his daughter lives, he decides to set everything straight and live out for his thousands of years, sacrificing never truly being with his daughter again (who might make a multiverse appearance to remind him to be "good") and yeah, hence he wins every time, and DotA is a constant loop.
I'm looking forward to see the other characters like windranger, dark seer, viper, zeus, bounty hunter, rikki, chaos knight, nightstalker, abaddon, ember, earth, storm, and vengeful spirits too! I'm a little upset lina and winter wyvern died so early T_T

Dota anime is really distancing itself to the Arcane(League of Legends) In Arcane you know the characters won't die because they exist in the game while Dota is not afraid to kill the heroes,

i hear ya Timothy. my first time through, i was confused by the same thing. but like v24 said the Invoker captured the 5 Eldwurms, including the Void Eldwurm named Byssrak. and Kashurra was a differently Void Dragon

the villainous void dragon is from another reality that is why they look alike, he himself says that he traveled through 15 realities before finding the supreme elwurn or supreme sun

Byssrak is the Void Eldwurm. he was betrayed by the Chaos Eldwurm, and now the Invoker has Byssrak. Kashurra is just another Void Dragon. but since he found Ore, he is no longer attached to the Void Dragons song. as a result, he went on his own rogue mission for the last few thousand years. since he is so old though, he is very powerful in his own right

Thanks for the explanation, I just finished the season and for the last two episodes I literally had no idea what was happening. The pacing was insane. I wanted to have feelings and know what was happening but it had blown past so much content that I had no connection to what was going on.

The final dragon villain was from a different reality. As he said he has travel different realities and found the one where he saw the eye of the worldwurm

So what happened to Slyrak v Terroblade
This season felt so rushed to me. Literally finished it in a day but throughout so many episodes I was like how the heck did we get here? Like seriously they really just off Lina and Marcy like that. I felt like Lina still had so much to give. It felt like it was implied that she was somehow related Slylack, but it still not clear. I wanted to see more of the exploration between her and Davion's relationship. To me, it felt like the writers kinda screwed things up, so much back and forth and then the actual dialogue of the characters had me questioning too...Mirana sends in Marcy to fight baldy and then once Marci gets captured, Mirana's like no let her go? Like sis, you sent her in the damn fight, what did you expect???
i bet all of them are going to come back to life in the war of the ancestors....

Ok just after season 1 i already told people that fymryn is mene incarnation. Now few more predictions from my side. Terrorblade will create world in his own world but it will turn out to be good thing just focus on this. He always mentions others problem he understand them but he is against evil. Like he told selemene that she dont know love. Or may be during initiation things will distort or realities merge and our fav characters may come back. Or his plan fails and the world will become like dota game dire side and radiant side .

I dont know, man, if Selemene is just going to go back to her old ways without learning anything, I'd say she's beyond redemption. Nor does she deserve it....Also, I'm really disappointed that Fymryn is backpedaling to just worshipping again after she had found her footing in season 1. I'm really hoping she snaps out of it.

Unfortunately Marci is dead-dead unlike Mirana, because we see her grave towards the end. You don't put someone to be revived in the ground. If they want to put back the dead characters back in season 3, they're going to borrow some ideas from Spiderman.
this is reality where things are different from the game, terrorblade literally said that invoker is same in all the universes and showed us the invoker from the game dressed in his attire from another universe, so basically this show is taking place in a universe where things are a bit different. And Dota world has many ways to revive the people who died🙂, So dont worry about talking things from spiderman.
They can in fact bring back dead characters if they see it fit, courtesy of the Ancients

i cant believe she busted through his void shield thing. that was awesome! Marci rocks!! (i love her background stuff the most. as an example, when they went outside and she saw Sagan, she ran up to him and picked up up, and his face was like "ooooooo" hahaha) there was also a funny one in season 1 where Fymryn asked if Mirana, Marci, and Davion were a pod (polygamous) and Marci's facial expression and "no" headshake in the background was pretty funny
@@bridge4 Marci is a huuuuuuuge fan favorite in the Dota community! They even ended up making her own playable character for the game (she is an original character that was made for the TV series). Despite being mute, the way she portrays her emotions is very well done in my opinion.
