BottleCap Drill - Restoration ( only one in the world )
This is a unique weird drill machine restoration, i am very sure someone made this change because he was tired to tighten the bottle caps.I found this unique tool at flea marke somewhere at country and cost me 10 euro.
This drill is still functional but i realy don't know how it work...maybe you can tell me.I don't know the year was made but look like something from 70's 80's for me, what do you think?
I hope you like it this restoration, if you want to send me someting to restore please let a comment.

The most impressive part, to me, is that you can put these things back together..
I was wondering that myself. It’s not like he can look it up on google or anything. Especially since it’s one of a kind.
Yeaaaa
Easy just look back through the footage or take photos of each part before and after taking apart
I'm sure it helps that he filmed it
I know I can take it apart no problem put it back nope lol
Ahh, its used in wineries to wind metal tops onto wine bottles one-at-a-time. Maybe also used in microbreweries where the owners don't have the budget to upgrade to more sophisticated bottling machinery. Great restoration, but I would have liked to have seen it in action on a wine bottle or two just to see how effective it is.
Good, we're all agreed. It's a Fallout gun.
Turbo Pokey yeppppp
Nope. Bottle cap drill guns existed before that game. They're used to tighten bottle caps
@@montialarson 🤨 obviously... and I was being facetious.

So, what does it do? Tysy: It goes brrrrrrr!
he lost me at epoxy
I have Netflix and Amazon Prime and HBO and Showtime and I am sitting here watching a guy play with a electric drill looking thing. And I am going to watch another one.
This is what makes me upset when I’m bored at work. I think about how I just spent 6 hours watching a guy sand old things or make new one, meanwhile likes $200+ dollars in subscriptions are going to waste. Lol
so stop paying for the subscriptions?

"What is this thing?" A starter cap, used to save the windings of the motor from burning up when it has to continually start under load. Inductive loads like motors and fluorescent light ballasts create a state where the voltage peak in phase will lead the current by a number of degrees. This can create a state where in the windings of the motor, there is high current but no voltage, overheating the motor. The capacitor brings the motor into balance, particularly when starting up under load, as this device would. A drill typically does not start under load, so this modification was done to extend the life of the adapted motor.
Was curious to see if someone had posted it yet. Your explanation is far more elaborate and accurate than mine would've been though. Thanks!
Also it cut the spark current down on bushing.
also ensures the motor always rotates the same direction since it is single phase
So, essentially, it's a smoothing capacitor, right?
That, he might get a new one lol Even on his grinder!
If it’s Tysy, you know it’s gonna be an amazing resto. Hats off to the wife for the excellent assist (no gloves required). I wasn’t sure you could bring this one back from the dead, but you did it again. Just awesome!
I introduced my grandpa to KZhead with this channel yesterday. He wrote me today that he watched all the videos and seems to really enjoy the content
I would love to see it in action! Like this comment so we can get a Bonus video!

Oh! Hello, Mrs. TysyTube! 😊
I’m amazed at your ability to remember how to put everything back together again. You must be a mechanical genius to make all these old devices come to life again.
Have you not at any point watching these videos realized that he is recording everything he does? He just rewatches his own footage of disassembling the machine to see where everything goes back... 🤦♂️
I'm glad you explained this to this person. They have been wondering this for a year now. Great job!
There's one of these comments on literally every restoration viseo on KZhead.
"This is the only one in the world." *(tears pieces apart and hits camera)😂
I notice a possible problem when putting the rubber fingers back together at the end. If you look at the order that they are in before you disassembled the working end of the tool the rubber fingers are alternating in orientation to each other. look at 00:17 and then 17:43, doesn't take away from the great project video. I always learn new tips about restorations watching you work. thanks.
Nice bottle cap tightener! Funny looking thing... One remark, you shouldn't have greased the axle where it goes into the bearing on the back end. It shouldn't rotate inside it, so the interference fit is required! Otherwise as the bearing is getting older/dirtier and is turning with more resistance, the axle might slip and slowly grind itself a new, smaller diameter. I know that this thing might not get any use from now on, but it is a good thing to remember when you are renovating other machines. Well, just one more thing: when "pressing in" (you were hammering it) bearings, you have to put something (e.g. a tube) on the outer ring so as not to stress the balls and the rolling surfaces inside it. Best is to use a restored precision press... where have I seen one? :)
Good thing you fixed that. I cant live without mine. I don't know how I would manage.
The fact you remember where every part went amazed me.
Thats what the camera on a cell phone does. It records so he does not have to remember where the tricky stuff goes. He just refers back to the video when he gets stuck. I think his wife is the videographer.
I also agree, this is your best resto so far. Great work especially on the bottom plastic part. Not an easy task to re do a missing part of a piece, no matter the material it is made of. Thank's for sharing.

This was truly a great restoration. Well done! So many broken parts show that it was a well used tool now it has a second chance. You are becoming increasingly popular too hope you find some more treasures to restore to there former glory.
thank you so much 😊
You've become more daring and more resourceful as time has passed.

Хорошая работа! Хорошая голова, хорошие руки и человек наверное хороший! И с юмором все в норме! Молодец! Респект!
I have absolutely no idea what this device should be. But it looks like a little minigun. 😁 And I would have had fun with it too 😄
tightens bottle caps to bottles.
Good wine bottle have (used to have) a tin cap above the cork. This device looks like it could help fitting the tin cap tightly on the bottle neck.
😂 😂 😂 😂 Final is fantastic
Leland Clayton - This device is used to apply tin layers over wine bottles on the cork side. The round bits at the extremity rotate and deform this layer to fit exactly the bottle neck shape. This is absolutely not to tighten bottle caps.
its for capping champagne bottles wit 26 mm caps. before the champange gets its permanent cork, they put the bottle upside down to get all the yeast in the bottleneck. after thats done they freeze the bottleneck and pop the cap. and with it the yeast comes out get the permanent champagne cork. in short.
This guy got lucky...wonder weapon straight from the mystery box!
Good job you did restoring the bottle cap drill. I have never seen one of those before. Great work.

If you tighten it too much, it’s probably gonna break. That opens it, kinda.

I could be wrong but It appears to be a High Volume Commercial Bar/Caterer's Bottle Opener? For use at big events when you need to open hundreds or thousands of Bottles quickly to serve. I saw something similar a long time ago being used at a big event. Otherwise, Yes, a Cyberman's Pleasure Toy.

Did you research the manufacturer and model number on that metal label to get an idea of when it was made, and what it might be precisely for?
17:42 the rubber nubs are supposed to alternate in their orientation. large-small-large-small...etc
So what is this device used for?
Look at 0:35 in the video, it shows them alternating

I love restorers that strive to keep everything original
YOU ARE INCREDIBIBLE ....I LOVE YOUR WORK
The green thing is a motor Run Capacitor (condensateur)it alters the sine wave of the AC currentit and energizes the secondary coil before the primary coil which makes the armature turn. If your motor stays still and buzzes, but turns when the armature is given a little push, your capacitor needs replacing. This is common in clothes dryers, domestic appliances erc I saw in one of your videos that you had to push your bench grinder to get it running, you should replace the motor Run Capacitor
So basically he needs a new Flux Capacitor with the Cobalt infuzed coils and a little bit of liquid fairy dust.

What's something that's understandable? It was hard to reassemble this old-timer machine when it was getting revamped. It's something that was awful noisy. This has a strong reference to the new radial arm saws that are more slient running. It's just like the Arctic Submarines, which is run silent. Run deep also. 🤫 😶 🔇 🔕 📳 🤫 🤔
What an interesting tool. Well done

I remember these from old days the aluminum cases when the isolator bearing on the shaft would go bad it would ground out and electrocute the hell out of you lol which does date it to late 70s by 80s they were all plastic case for this reason lol you three elastomer bands are for holding the rods tight to help the rubber nubs grip the caps to cap as well as crimp ! I geuss they also had to account for it grabbing a finger or two while you were working! Could be 2 and 3 reason it was broke when it one exploded under pressure.. two grabbed a finger or three electrocuted them n they tossed or 4 all of the above lol
The amount of parts it contains gives me anxiety.
