Legitimately works. Dropped my wireless headphones with a Smattag on it at an EV charging station an hour from my home, found the signal and went back, and voila. Getting another one or two for my wallet and keys.

That’s a security feature, to get notifications if an airtag is found moving with you. Anyone can track you if that’s not the case.
Meh... they work almost exactly the same. Neither is "better" or "worse"... there are small differences but both do the same job. Just buy whichever one matches your phone.

You should make a SmartTag2 phone case cause if you lose your phone you can find it with your watch only with wi-fi connection (when it's not nearby). Also this will come out of nowhere but I have a suggestion to add a Safe Place option where SmartTags don't alert you (ofcourse a setting you can toggle for each tag) as well as on the Galaxy Watches. I prefer having it alert me until i stop it when it disconnects from my phone but for example at home i'm getting disconnected by leaving my phone in the other room and I go with the watch somewhere and it is so annoyng when i have to swipe every 10 seconds when it randomly disconnects

I thinks that if samsung could make like an smart suitcase would be really awsome. The suitcase will connect to your phone when need and when dont you cant turn the finding off. Sound pretty cool to me

I taught about this tag technology 7 years ago and someone told me I don't work in silicon valley or their members so I should forget the idea, and I did.
What would happen if it is out of range? Is it similar to an airtag in the way where it connects to other phones (or some other way) to put it on the map anywhere? if so I will be sure to pick these up! I was looking at tiles but they only have 250 ft of range. Edit: Can you use this with all android phones or just Samsung?
Yeah it connects to the network of Samsung phones. So say your item is even lost in another country, once someone with a Samsung phone walks by, it will then report back to you the last known location. I think sadly it only works with Samsung phones just as Apple Tags work only with iPhones. It would be amazing honestly if Apple and Samsung could cross platform the finding functionality of these. But I think when they are lost both apple and Samsung allow any phone to tap/scan the device to read the information about the owner.

It has the ability to connect to other Samsung phones. But, with certain conditions. For example the other phones need to also use smartthings and have all the permissions accepted

Correct me if i'm wrong but it only works if Smart things is properly set. Something a HUGE amount of people don't do. This is what you get for constantly isolating yourself from the rest. Apple does it too... but in a much smoother way.
No, it works with any Galaxy device and starting this year, it will work with any Android device, even not Samsung, those devices don't even run the Smart things app.

Officially 500 days, but it will last a year to be safe in terms of battery. Range is the whole planet, not just 200 KM. No, it does not require any internet or wireless connection to work. Android phones that are close to the tag will detect it and transmit the location to Google/Samsung servers, which is then available only to the tag owner, in this case you. It will work fine for that purpose. People use it for their dogs if they get lost. I think Samsung even advertised that in the past. You can even set the tag to alert you in case your father leaves a specific area, which means before he even gets lost.
