Forever In Operations, The 8 Mountain Division Of
From taking part in the 1971 war with Pakistan, counter-insurgency operations in the North-east and spearheading the counter-attack during the Kargil war, this formation of the Indian Army has been 'forever in operations'.
Four of its commanders have gone on to become army chiefs. This is the story of 8 Mountain Division, which was raised in 1963 in Nagaland, primarily to deal with the insurgency there and, subsequently, in Manipur. As the problem manifested itself in J&K, the force was relocated to the Valley in 1990.
Nine years later, its role changed during the Kargil intrusion and it successfully led the counter-attack.
This episode of 'Simply Nitin' comes to you from the headquarters of the 8 Mountain Division in Khumbathang, Ladakh.
And StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale shares interesting details about the formation, now helmed by a man more three decades after his father commanded it.

Lines " Forever in operations" is enough to give me goosebumps......leaving rest all 🇮🇳
Whenever you say Ladaak instead of Ladakh , it always brings a smile to my face as the frontier is actively facing threat and your pronunciation is a hindi variation of Attack. 😊. Superb coverage of our armed forces on this channel.

thanks for your support @aloksharma4611
Indians reporting about the Indian military is always narrated in terms of Commanders as opposed to from Jawan/soldier PoV of western reporting. That makes Indian reporting very "elitist" and "top-down". Good to know that 4 commanders became Army Chiefs. But they did not achieve everything by themselves. They achieved by riding on the shoulders of Jawans, so a few stories about the soldiers, junior, middle rank commanders will provide balanced narrative.
Jai hind
Sir . Where is Nyoma Airbase Upgradation Video ?
🙏🇮🇳
why are you fulfilling my dream ( visiting each and every place of army ) sir?
All Mountain Divs , which are primarily in a defensive role should also become offensive in its operations , hen ever needed.
Mountain division of army pithoragarh uttarakhand..you must visit and make a video..for us..
Low volume. Needs higher base volume
Very good knowledge shared by you, slute you
I believe that during its deployment in nagaland it was known as 81 mountain brigade. It was headed by a Brigadier but was a division strength brigade.
Wrong. 81 was part of 8 Mountain Div at one point yes
As an Indian , I say that Indian defence is to be developed to large extent still.
Work is going on. we are expediting however 70 years of inactivity cannot be remedied in 10 years. give it some time . work is underway

buddy, work on improving your speaking skills, your diction. Your content is amazing, but listening to you is irritating. You do too many "aannhh-aannhh" while ypu speak.
*then* *why* *india* *lost* *half* *of* *ladakh* *infront* *of* *china* , *your* *army* *is* *nowhere* *infront* *of* *china*
In your dreams, Chinese poodle. And get your facts straight before running your filthy yap.
This could have been completely shot inside studio. They went all the up there for getting a background. Omg.
