Air defence systems play a defining role amid the changing nature of warfare. This was borne out last month, when Iran launched a barrage of missiles and drones into Israeli airspace.
The Iranian move was to retaliate for Israel’s strikes on its mission in Damascus, which killed some of Iran’s top commanders.
Projectiles launched by Iran barely had any effect, thanks to Israel’s sophisticated air defence systems.
Iron Dome, Arrow 2 and Arrow 3, David’s Sling are some of the key components of Israel’s air defence.

Has the S400 been bought by India to be part of the Air Defense Network against enemy aircraft, or for ballistic missile defense? I've seen conflicting reports and opinions.

India has so many SAM systems but hardly any C-RAM systems. That is the main issue with Indian air defense today.
L&T Sudarshan for land based C-RAM and L&T Teevra 40 for Naval C-RAM is the best option. IAF has already placed an order for around 240 L&T Sudarshan guns. That approximates to around one battery of such C-RAM on every IAF airbase. This system is rather effective against drone swarms due to it having muzzle-programmable airburst ammo, which is widely considered to be the best kinetic counter to swarms of small drones. So I believe this C-RAM will win the Army's contract for around 900+ guns as well. Although I think Army needs a lot more than just 900+ of these guns. Given the proliferation of drones with non-state actors, our military vessels need effective anti-drone defences no-matter how small the vessel. What we need to do is replace all CRN-91 guns on our Coast Guard ships and some Navy ships with the L&T Teevra 40. Easier said than done because the former doesn't penetrate the deck, while the latter does. And if we want it to be used against drone swarms, we'll need a deep magazine capacity, so that adds to the space needed below the deck. I am not sure if Coast Guard ships even have space below deck for something like that. .
@@death_parade low rate of fire, no smart ammo. A gun-missile system is needed. AHEAD type ammo which can saturate an area with tungsten pellets, and low cost missile like MANPADS
@@arnabmit Wrong. L&T Sudarshan does have AHEAD ammo i.e. muzzle-programmable airburst. And that low rate of fire is in the context that it fires larger bullets than that Rheinmetall 35mm Oerlikon autocannon, which results in each Sudarshan round producing 1200 tungsten pellets per round while the Rheinmetall product manages to produce 300 at most. So in terms of tungsten pellets per second, L&T Sudarshan is superior to Rheinmetall Oerlikon even though it has a lower rate of fire. As for MANPADS, we have DRDO MPDMS being produced by Adani (once trials are done).
India need to create a defancs sistem in case of war ccp Missles could be Intercept,and Bharat need nano Missles which can carry small high explosion device which can enter china by the million and stop the ccp war mechinnery.. This is the way forward for Bharat silently start creating this things. The goverment should pump money in this business, they will try every trick, lndia defenetly need to be six step ahead. 💪💪❤❤❤.

How come we don't see Missiles with Stealth capabilities. If planes of gen 5 can have this surely missile should already be Stealth capable with advanced materials .. please Comment if anyone knows this
India must raise an independent Brigage consisting of Tibetans and Gurkhas . Also include Tibetans who are willing to immigrate . This should be a highly efficient fighting force. In the event of clash with China, aim should be to liberate Tibet
India does not has a 3-4 category of air defenses... we have bought bits & pieces of more than 8/9 types of AD🙄... even for shoulder launch we have 3-4 types... we can't reach economies of scale this way and it will hinder inter operability... India should design AD of only 4-5 fixed types of AD... & More n more defense projects must go to private companies rather than sich PSUs so tht there is no cost overrun n no delay #jaihind

Israel's land mass is too small.. Therefore can be defenced+ Israel has been helped by US and UK....
Aakash SAM isn't a missile defence system. It is AAD- Advanced Air Defense system(endo atmospheric interseptor). Our ballistic missile defence systems consist of PAD and AAD. PAD got replaced by PDV. Now two new systems are under development, AD 1 (endo atmospheric) AD 2 (EXO atmospheric). AD 1 was tested few years ago.
