  • Early in his career, his defensive ratings, and reputation, were poor. Even in his first NBA MVP season, he was rated as an average defender at best. While his defensive reputation is taking some time to improve, nearly all analytics/metrics had him as a top defender in the entire league (!) last year and this year they're as good or better. It's crazy, especially since he doesn't block a ton of shots and still appears a bit slow afoot in transition. But he has worked tremendously hard on his positioning.

    @bakerman10@bakerman10 Жыл бұрын

  • Jokic is the most underrated superstar hall of famer in his prime of all time. The way I see it , Dirk is considered the greatest European player of all time and is ranked between 16-25 on most all time lists. Respect to Dirk but Jokic is better, he just needs more longevity and he's been incredibly healthy so far so I think he can play at this level another 10 years. Jokic is a Dirk, Duncan, Bird, Magic hybrid, but unfortunately he inherited Duncan's lack of popularity. There's a good chance by the end of his career that the advanced stats have Jokic as the most impactful player of all time but unless he wins 5 or more rings, the type of fans who don't respect him enough now would never rank him as high as he should be ranked.

    @averagejojofan8649@averagejojofan8649 Жыл бұрын
  • What I love about Jokic highlights is that at the beginning of the highlight clip, I often have no idea what's going to happen. At any moment, maybe he might do a little shuffle, take 2 steps, and score on a sky hook. He may fake that move, step out, and throw a lob to someone. He might just stand there and dribble for 2 seconds and suddenly make a hard move to the basket and dunk it. He may move to the basket or away from the basket and throw a little bounce pass to a cutter who will then dunk it. He may fake the shot and throw a perfect bullet pass inside that results in someone else dunking the ball. I bet defenses also really don't know what he's going to do either. They might scout him and watch a bunch of clips, get some stats on his tendencies, etc, but he can create offense in so many different ways that defenses really cannot know when to pressure him with a double team or when to make sure there's nobody uncovered on the floor who can score off a perfect Jokic pass.
