I used to show the gifts as part of ' @The Chateau Diaries ' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us 💖💖💖
If you would like to see more of our life at the chateau, please go to our main 'Chateau Diaries' channel:

  • Marie needs to wear that style of dress EVERY DAY at the Chateau as she frolics and forages for flowers! That dress is perfect on her! So fun!

  • So glad you are enjoying the costumes. It gave me a lot of joy to see you both in my favorite gowns. I could feel the love. Believe me, it was an enormous pleasure to send them to you. I agree that the blue one is stunning on Marie with her coloring. It does look like it was made for her. I used to wear it with a velvet Tudor flat cap. But my husband commandeered it for his alter ego. A “persona” he created to prank a friend that created Casa Bardicci, an Italian palazzo that only exists for two weeks every year at a huge medieval event in Pennsylvania in August. You should google the Pennsic Wars. Now there is an experience that would be different for you and Ollie for your travel vlog. They actually have huge field battles, often with over a thousand participants on the field. It is quite the spectacle.

    • 📸 Yes💥! Those regal Renaissance costumes are rather spectacular. How kind of this lovely LaLander to share her artistic 🪡sewing🧵 talents with this historic household. 📖 A more fitting fairytale 🏰 setting she could not find! That 💙blue one certainly enhances 🌸 Marie Fleur's 🌸 natural, gentle beauty. Those silhouettes certainly make the best of the female form too. The ❤red velvet & pink suits Stephanie to a "T." 😉Perhaps when Michael Potts returns from his 🏁 international adventures, he can do another photo shoot. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

  • The large hand-drawn handkerchief lace pieces are coverlets to go over the top of bedding. They are beautiful to use as tablecloths as well. They were exquisitely and painstakingly handmade and were so precious they were used as dowry pieces which would have gone into a maiden's hope chest and would have been handed down through the female family members, from grandmother, to mother, to daughters. They were highly treasured before the industrial revolution when cheaper imitations were mass produced by machine.

  • This was a fun Cadeaux. Seeing Phillips "china Pantry" full was a nice treat. The linens for the bed I believe are called coverlets. The idea is to have a solid spread underneath to highlight the sheer lace over top. They are gorgeous. So nice to see Marie so happy and dressed up in the blue dress that highlights that beauty. I will really miss Cadeaux when it is said and done.

On the topic of suited, the costume gifts modeled by the always delightful Marie and engaging chatelaine Stephanie are bound to ignite the desire for a true fashion renaissance at Lalande and well beyond. I definitely feel a party coming on. Not least by any means is heartwarming news that the El Roi Baby Home in South Africa has a new home for those in need of love and shelter.

  • What amazing gifts! A warning note on Lace Curtain placement: I had/have some cotton lace curtains from my sister. The ones on the north facing windows are still doing great for the most part; they are never exposed to sun. One spot is thinning, from rubbing against a pull-cord when the window was open and the breeze blew, but better cord management has stopped further damage. But the amazing ones in my west and south-facing kitchen windows are falling apart from sun-rot, though they’re not as delicate as those (what could be more delicate?). It didn’t take many years for them to start failing. The west facing ones turned completely to dust. The south facing ones, shaded in deep winter by the neighbor’s house and in summer by a shrub when I’m slow to trim, is failing more slowly. It’s a bit miss Haversham, but I can’t bear to part with it yet as I haven’t found anything satisfactory as a replacement. Alas, I’ll have to go with polyester.
