not particulary normal. there are places where it is appropiate and there are places where not. people in germany are not that quickly offended by nudity. especially if it is sunbathing or bathing in the water. as soon as he would walk around like that, he'd be schooled for doing so
Its called FKK (Free body culture) and is a big thing here in germany since at least the 60s. There are whole beaches and camping-sites where everyone, young and old, is naked. And it happens in city parks and at lakes, mainly by old dudes who just want to sunbath, but its not tooo common there. But its legal and perfecly fine as long as hes just chilling there and no kids are around.

There are tons of rules in France; they are just different between the two countries. Nobody will look at you if you cross at a red light, but be prepared for a reaction if you don't cut cheese correctly.

Aritul There are three types of German secondary schools, the others being Realschule and Hauptschule. The Gymnasium is focused on preparing students to enter a university, where else the Realschule and the Hauptschule prepare their students for a Training of some kind of profession.

I absolutely agree about the point that french schools are much stricter than the german ones. I live in Berlin, but I spent 2 month in a french school and I'm so glad that I live here, in Germany. I always felt like I'm in a prison in the french middle school, there's no possibility to leave the building if you aren't authorized to do it. They even block the windows in the first floor! And how should french kids learn English, if they don't practice how to talk?! but whatever, I love France as much as you do

As French, I must admit that I was surprised to see the level of English of these high school students! And yes, in France, we do not even train to speak English to learn it

@@saint-elohim6623 that's the new generation of schoolkids that started learning english in elementary school, sometimes even kindergarten. When i attended school (i am 26 now) we started with either latin or english as our second language in the 5th grade (first year of secondary school) and got the other from the 7th grade onwards. In the 8th we then had the choice between french and ancient greek and in the 10th we got spanish, so there has always been an emphasis on learning foreign languages in school. Though as we started way later in our education to learn english, my "generation" was never as proficient as the kids in this video. In fact my parents sent me for a year to canada in order for me to learn proper english, as they thought that the one taught at my school was lacking. Long story short: i am just as amazed as you by the level and accent of these kids english.
Nice video and (as a German ) I feel like you described the "german attitude" pretty good. But especially the school looked a bit 'polished'. You talked to kids who visit a upper class school or at least are not standing on the losing side of the society. But what do people think who seem to have a lower financial or educational background? Their point of view could have been a good addition to the video :)
Um, so... never met any 'lower class' (btw, quite an ugly distinction to make) people who disagree with 'follow the rules that make sense to you'.
That is not ugly when you are a part of it. And indeed, it would have been different. There is an answer in the interview : they went to an upper class school class (add another class) in Paris. They are in the 10% (or less).

En Allemagne, les feux, c'est impératif. En france, c'est conseillé. A marseille, c'est indicatif, en Italie, c'est décoratif.

une fois à Berlin je suis passée "avec le piéton rouge" tous le monde m'a dévisagé, j'étais la seule à traverser :-) cet été à Paris tous le monde traversait avec le "piéton rouge" et un couple attendait tranquillement que ça passe au vert c'était des allemands; les parisiens se demandaient pourquoi ils attendaient :-)

The german english accent is obviously the BEST non native accent in the world. Nearly impossible to guess that the person is actually german.

I can tell the difference. The reason why they speak English so well like Swedish and Norwegians is because it's very similar to English.

@@watermelon5087 Good point. The Dutch speak very well, as well. I was just stating these languages are linguistically similar to English; Whereas, Italian and Spanish speakers (or in his case, French speakers) tend to speak worse is because their native language is more different.
@@ericl8743 True! And i also noticed that french-Belgian speakers have a better english than French Because of the language situation of the country which is situated right in the frontier beetween the roman part of Europe and the German part of Europe, and that they also have more Dutch influence.

As a German expat in Paris who is easily offended, I expected to hate this episode. Instead, it was amazing. Brilliant school director you found there, truly stereotypical of what I remember my teachers to be. I was a bit worried about why you would show the bavarian beer in Berlin but then the school was in bavaria so that made more sense. So the result is that we wait at a red light and we are able to communicate in English. Yeah, I can live with that :)

Every person dresses individually, and, honestly, at least people from age 13-30 have a similar style in most western european countries. D'une tu t'es gouré de police politique il ne faisait pas allusion à la Gestapo mais la STASI la police est-allemande (communiste)
Ben on rigole mais ya sans doute des restes. L'histoire influence et ya eu la Gestapo certes, mais aussi la Stasi après ça (dans un état aux antipodes du nazisme d'ailleurs) et la moitié de la population qui collabore à chaque fois. Ça laisse des traces dans l'inconscient collectif, comme nous on aura plus gardé le souvenir de notre passé révolutionnaire / liberté des individus etc. La guerre froide finalement mdr

German tourists - especially budget tourists tend to be the worst.
There are rules in Spain O.o none that can't be negotiated with the police (though the Guardia civil is a different issue)! Keep in mind that Spain became a popular holiday destination because it was dirt cheap after decades of a mismanaged dictatorship, so it appealed and advertised to especially the lower class of German society that wanted to go on party trips somewhere sunny (hence nowadays less and less of those people are going to Spain and an increasing amount to the "gold beach" at the black sea). Overtime the tourist destinations built accomodation for this type of tourist, which in turn turned other tourists away from going to Spain. So in a way Spain has created its own selective type of tourists, though with increasing competition from former east-block party destinations, stricter enforced, new rules and rising prices this type of tourists will in the long term drizzle away from Spain, opening the possibility for Spain to actively advertise and accommodate to a more senior clientele (though it's kinda hard, as many beautiful beach towns are ruined by ugly giant hotels right at the beach - which might have been acceptable for the cheap mass tourism, but will hinder the development of any new type of tourists coming to Spain.

It's usually the manga/anime side of Japan that french are obsessed about. I believe France is one of the country that buy the most mangas, especially if you compare proportionally, so yeah I guess that's a thing. But not necessarily a bad one. Unless people just talk to you about mangas and whatever just because you're japanese.

@@rastahatattack706 be belgian, you'll just have to learn Dutch, French, German and English if you'd want to work for the government or work in a big multinational company (Chinese or US owned companies). (Though only gymnasium level schools actually teach these 4 at the same time)

Je suis allé à Berlin (c'est probablement faux ailleurs, Berlin ne représente pas l'Allemagne) et j'ai eu une remarque pour avoir passé à un feu rouge de piéton pour une voie de tram juste après le passage du tram mais par contre, les gens fument dans les lieux publics même si c'est illégal. Il y a aussi de la prostitution et du trafic de drogue qui sont tolérés tant que ça reste dans certains coins et que ça ne déborde pas. Beaucoup de gens vont dans les bâtiments abandonnés pour se balader, discuter même si ce sont des propriétés privés et c'est illégal. La police viennent les déloger mais calmement en disant "vous n'avez pas le droit d'être là vous devez partir" et les gens partent tranquillement. Au final, si les Allemands respectent plus les règles, ça dépend mais j'ai l'impression qu'il y a plus de respect tout court.
ça me choque la quantité de pubs pour clope que l'on peut voir dans la rue et aussi les distributeurs de clopes. Les gens fument même avec leurs gamins à côté voir dans leurs bras !

Berlin est très cosmopolite, c'est d'ailleurs une ville dans laquelle on parle plus anglais qu'allemand c'est dire :p
Munich étant ma ville natale ou j'y retourne souvent pour voir mon père, je pourrais te donner ça comme info. La pub pour des cigarettes, je confirme, et les distributeurs aussi. Mais bon courage pour trouver des fumeurs, parce qu'ils sont quand même vraiment rare contrairement à la France...

Fellow german here. From my perspective this was a real nice insight view of our code. I love stereotypes, because there is in most cases a valid reason behind them. Just dont take things to seriously and just understand that it is a kind of a joke, a persiflage. Just for example, I laugh about the german stereotypes, but also I like cracking jokes about the french stereotypes about surrender easily in wartimes, but actual i have a lot of respect for all french soldiers. And, just like one of the pupils said, understanding other cultures makes it easier to grow more together, as an european, as well as a cosmopolitan. Im looking forward to more stereotrip episodes.~

Ce ne sont pas des allemands normaux je pense, d'après plusieurs commentaires que j'ai lu de personnes vivants en Allemagne il semblerait que ce soit assez peut représentatif. A mon avis ils ont bien choisi la classe et l'école. Les Allemands ont un meilleur niveau en Anglais que le reste de l'Europe (en ne prenant pas en compte les pays scandinaves) mais pas à ce point là.
@@chopsuey4698 effectivement, dans la vidéo on parle d'échanges de classe avec des établissements parisiens et de voyages dans des pays d'Europe, donc ça doit être un peu le top niveau de l'école. Les lycées ou collèges d'élite (on est pas au niveau des écoles privées suisses à plusieurs dizaines de milliers d'euros par an non plus) dans les pays occidentaux se ressemblent beaucoup j'imagine, et donc les particularités culturelles n'y transparaissent pas.
@@edgarmondant2064 tout à fait, ayant connu des jeunes étudiants en écoles interrnationales (type écoles pour enfants de diplomates) en France, on y trouve exactement ce genre d'accents anglais :-)
parlent mieux *hum hum hum* . Non, ils ont peut-être un meilleur accent que certains élèves mais clairement on peut pas juger s'ils parlent mieux sur d'aussi simples propos. Les inter de mon lycée ont vraiment un haut niveau (je suis en euro) et certains se sont fait degager de l'inter alors qu'ils parlent presque courament, parce qu'ils n'avaient pas le niveau. En fait ils avaient un bon accent mais un vocabulaire trop restreint pour l'inter.
Selon mon propre experience en tant qu'élève d'un lycée allemand c'est forte bien possbile d'atteindre un accent pareil sans jamais avoir quitté le pays parce qu'on a des cours de langue plusieurs fois par semaine et les profs sont normalement vraiement compétents.

Vivant en Allemagne depuis plusieurs mois je ne peux que confirmer le contenu de cette vidéo ! Je trouve que le système éducatif allemand est super et permet de plus sensibiliser sensibiliser les élèves à ce qui les entoure (cultures, écologie...) par exemple ça m'est arrivé plusieurs fois de voir des gamins ramasser des déchets par terre et les jeter dans une poubelle. Mais c'est vrai qui si tu te sors un peu du moule, les gens ne vont pas hésiter à te faire comprendre que ça ne leur plaît pas. Ils te lancent de ces regards >< sans essayer d'être discrets ! Quand j'accompagne les gamins que je garde à l'école on se dit bonjour avec les parents mais depuis que suis venu avec les cheveux bleus certains ne me répondent plus x')

ça m'a choqué comment ils parlent aussi bien l'anglais xD serieusement, je veux bien que le niveau général en anglais en France soit super bas, mais en fait c'est surtout le niveau des autres qui est super haut
Moi, j'étais assez surprise qu'à Paris, quand je parle français avec mon accent allemand, beaucoup de personnes répondent en anglais. Le niveau d'anglais n'est pas si bas.
Le niveau générale d'éducation est assez bas en France malheureusement
En soit, l'accent peut donner l'impression d'une meilleure maîtrise, mais je pense qu'ici ils ne restaient que dans des propos simples que les élèves français pourraient aussi exprimer. Les racines communes anglo-saxonnes aident sûrement ce point. Je voulais juste nuancer un peu ;)

To be fair, that high school scene seems kind of staged. I'm doing my A-Levels next year and am in the English advanced course and while our English is quite good, you certainly can't expect that from all German students.
This is not staged, I myself am a German student in grade 9, we speak English in math, biology, physics, chemistry, science, history and philosophy.

It depends on where you are and which students you talk to. Germany has 16 federal states, each with their own educational system. Also there are up to 5 different forms of schools you can attend for a higher level degree. We have Gymnasium, generally the highest one (classes 5-12/13), Realschule (classes 5-10), Hauptschule (classes 5-9), Gesamtschule (classes 5-12/13, but mixed students from all school types) and the Berufsschule, which is usually for working place education, but you can also get the highest degree there. And this is still excluding private schools and Waldorf-schools. You may also have noticed that there are some schools that either have 12 or 13 classes and sometimes even both. That's due to a policy in some states that made them switch from 13 to 12 years till you reach the highest degree. But this policy has been reversed, re-reversed and switched around a lot of times. What I'm really saying here is that you can't take one class for the entirety of Germany, because the German educational system is an absolute cluster fuck of different states and their weird policies, which makes it just weird. There was even a policy introduced from the federal government to grant the states financial support for more digital education (much needed btw.), but a lot of states declined, because they feared intervention in their educational programs.

Et pour le coup super format, avec des intervenants pertinents, le vieil italien avec ses grand sourcils est tellement expressif ! Very true. I've been living in Germany for 3 years now and it happened a few times that regular people called me out on my behaviour. They were somehow all related to crosswalks and bike use. The road is a sacred thing here.

I can confirm the thing with the red lights. Even in a small Southern city with less than 100.000 inhabitants, where the streets are literally empty after 7pm, if there is a red light, people stop and stay there. It it a VERY annoying custom...
It's a big mistake to think that no german will cross a red light, especially in Berlin XD
Of cause some ppl do, but in general poeple dont crosss the road.
