Agree. We are very poorly educated on economics in the UK and it's this that lets government and their complicit media pull off the cheap parlour trick of blaming groups who have no money, no power and no influence, for all the problems that are in reality caused by the greed and corruption of the already wealthy, powerful and influential AKA the establishment and their enablers.

not sure, which "Green Party" you are talking about ... as soon as they are in charge, they are all together in bed with the owners`class - and try to secure the future of their own kids and family clans based on the networks they now have access to ... This is one point, why I am a big fan of CBDC and digitalization: the transparency will dry out the swamps.

I’m in a blue ultra safe seat, suella Braverman is my mp! ☹️ I was very involved in the Labour Party under Corbyn, because his policies aligned with my thinking. I gave Starmer a chance, but resigned after we were told we could not discuss JC being suspended. This is not democracy. He’s now back tracked on every single thing he promised. He’s no better than a Tory! I’m sorry, but I cannot support him or his party. Good luck though! I hope you can make a difference in Wormley at least!

Richard Murphy in his Taxing Wealth Report says pretty much what you are saying the very rich need to pay more to invest in public services that the less wealthy, ie most of us use. He reckons £90b could be raised by simple changes to the tax regime. A functioning NHS would be a good way to spend extra revenue for starters.
One of the great things about building a passionate community is that other people can take up the reins if you ever need to take a step back for a while (and vice versa). Everyone following this channel knows how fucking hard you've been working, Gary, and even though the work is important, I'm pretty sure no one here wants you to burn yourself out. Trust us, we'll keep spreading the message even if/when you decide to take that well-deserved holiday.

I only did it at school for 3 years but it helped me see the system for the scam it is even in my teens.
I rarely binge read books out of sheer enjoyment, but the trading game i couldnt put it down, up till 1am reading which i rarely do. Making it into a series or doc or film would bang no doubt. so many twists and turns, lots of emotional turmoil, and an insight into a side of society which ordinary people dont ever see. plus the implicit powerful political message, gets people thinking.
Congratulations Gary, you are a star. it’s also ok to slow down and stop for a while. Look after yourself, have that holiday and rest because you are important as well.

Take that holiday 😂. I just finished reading the book yesterday. I read it in three days which is something I never ever do but it was genuinely addictive reading. Fantastic work Gary and brilliant message to the masses. Just to add to your message an elderly lady over the winter period near to where we live up north, died from pneumonia, the truth is she couldn't afford to pay for both food and heating. She chose the food option, her house was so cold that the bowl in her sink which contained water had frozen. This is not an exaggeration this is the sad truth of reality. We are, I think currently the sixth richest country in the world and an elderly lady essentially died alone in a freezing cold house due to inequality and poverty. It ain't right and it should not be accepted as the norm or just another statistic.
In March 2020, just before lockdown, this 3rdager's central heating boiler gave up the ghost, and without the possibility of Airbnb bookings I could no longer keep up with the 300% Council Tax demanded for uninhabitable/semi-derelict houses that, prior to being turned into cannabis factories by their tenants, had housed Manchester's first BackPackers Hostel (aka 'Joan's Place') so the cost of a new boiler was also out of the question. I've just gone through my 4th winter with no heating and, for much of the time, no water. It's not killed me (I grew up in a 2-up/2-down with coal fire, cold tap, tin bath and outside loo) but it is debilitating. Attending meetings funded to research what older people need has kept me fed, buffet food gets a bit tiring but it's free!

I have been following you from the very beginning. It’s brilliant to see you breakthrough the noise.
People like me bought the book in order to see how the world is run. Even though I knew already the cruel reality of market trading, you brought home the laissez faire nature of it and how this unfettered free for 'some' way of carrying on, failing to tax the assets of the 'repeated' winners, must essentially lead to poverty for the many. It was a mind blowing book. Thank you for the education.

I have brought up many of of your observations with friends and Family years back, but always getting the "you dont know anything about economics"
Well done Gary, so pleased to channel has taken off, I have been following you since 26 January 2022, not sure when you launched? We have a similar background, I will be 60 this year, I went to LSE in 2004 to do a masters in New Media, Information and Society to understand why my mum refused to use a computer (I'am an IT guy), it turns out it was very simple, she saw no economic benefit until she discovered eBay then she was all over it. In my world in the 90s I was able to buy a flat, upgrade to a house, upgrade to a bigger house. I have three children 29,32, and 33, they are not going to be able to buy anything in London. They are living in the world that you describe. I work at PwC and am involved in our social mobility network, I have gone up the mobility ladder, my children are going down which is very depressing.
As with your previous career Gary, you’ve earned this man. Bravo. The movement you wanted to start is now gathering momentum ❤️

Gary, you deserve a holiday! But not yet, you are on the crest of a huge wave. Your accent is very easy listening, your imitation of others accents…I could hear what you were going for… you’re an economist & best selling author, not an impersonator 😅 It’s vital for us all to see the change you’re striving for. Tax the rich. Tax their capital gains, tax the additional homes, tax the royals, tax the megacorps.
...tax the religious institutions.
Abolish taxes and let the poor make their own way.
@@IrishFrank22That's a very sweeping comment, poverty can come to anyone for a multitude of reasons, that's why there is a safty net. Human rights are the safty line that stops economic harm in a system where everything costs. Also, taxation in the UK isn't redistributed. It is deleted on receipt from the UK Monetary Base. Social security and services are not paid by tax payers, that was an empowering soundbite by Margaret Thatcher to enable peope to be cruel to anyone below their station in life. 'Other peoples money' is a political fallacy, not a macroeconomic fact. Taxation for government expenditure ended in 1971. Taxation changed its remit.
@@maria8809ttt I read a lot of rambling from you. First of government don't create jobs and generate tax, private companies and citizens do. There is no such thing as a human right because I don't owe you a right. Humans are like any other species in a natural environment and that is we are competitive. The issue is people like you feel entitled to other people's money because you don't have it and they do. If the show was on the other foot you would be keeping as much of YOUR money as possible. Look at Venezuela to see what public ownership looks like. The rich left the country and continued to make there money in other countries while Venezuela became a third world country even though it has vast amounts of minerals. As long as human nature exists, people money will be safe from ideologies like yours. With Gary becoming successful with KZhead and the selling of his books, will Gary redistribute his wealth?
I haven't had to use the fire bridge, but I know, in a society, it is needed, the same for defence and law. The same with human rights. People in the middle and lower classes are paying taxes to remove inflationary pressure that should be removed from wealth, not for government expenditure but for price stability within the economy.

I'm very impressed with what you are trying to do in bringing economics to the layman in a way that is understandable. You have managed to smash a few myths about working in the City. You have been able to explain how you started working in financial markets and how you were sucked into the mentality initially but then you came to recognise that perhaps there were better ways to put your energy to better use and in a more socially responsible way. So now your journey into the political arena is well timed and particularly as you are so clear and experienced about what you see as a better way to use funds that can be raised through the financial markets to equal out society for everyone's benefit. So well done and I'm glad all your ventures are doing well what you are doing is so important so don't give up and keep the message coming to both the big influential bods and small fry like us in the country.

I finished listening to the audiobook (I also bought the book) last week and I can see how it could be turned into a TV series. You have to make sure, I'm sure you will that your core message isn't sidelined, because it's your realisation of how the economy/markets work and your conscience within that, that makes the story compelling. Your narration brought the characters to life. Some of the nicknames were brutal, but I'm sure apt and made me laugh. I could picture a lot of the scenarios. I worked in the City doing admin back in the day. You demystified the workings of a trading floor which you describe so well. Can thoroughly recommend this book. Good luck with everything. Will you write any more books?
